President Tinubu has approved an increase in Nigerian soldiers’ salaries, reportedly between 30% and 80%. I was glad to hear the news, although it may still not be enough considering how risky and demanding their job is. At least, it will motivate our military personnel and encourage them to do even more.

Having been close to some of these soldiers, I’ve seen firsthand how much they sacrifice to keep Nigerians safe. They give their all, and truly, they deserve more.

In my opinion, the Nigerian government should not focus only on salary increments but also work seriously to reduce the inflation rate. This way, whatever our military men earn will have real value and meaning in their daily lives.

What are your thoughts on this?

The Government should also consider focusing on providing good and more powerful technologies and weapons to our Military Forces, increasing the salaries is a good effort though but I think the military needs more than that at this moment.

The Nigerian government needs to put in more effort to bring an end to this massive insecurity problem that is trying to become something normal, some attacks do happen sef and the news media would not even report about it.

I'm tired of the politics our leaders are playing with us, despite this news, I am still not convinced until our military to receive that amount of money, just because the election is close they are trying to bring so many things so that we will believe they are working, honestly how are you uniform personnel are not treated very well in this country, they are welfare is so bad to the extent that so many people are running away from the job. They should be among the people that are earning big in the country, because we have the same life as them but they are trying to Sacrifice themselves for the country, they forget about their family and stand for the entire country, I think this is enough for the government to look into so that their family member will be taking care of very well.

You may think that Nigeria doesn't have powerful technologies and weapons to combat and end terrorism because of the way terrorists are operating freely in the country but deep down Nigeria have the technology to track terrorism and know their hideouts and they also have the weapon to neutralize them. However, they don't want to end terrorism in the country because they are making money from it.

Since Bola Ahmed Tinubu became the president of Nigeria I have been hearing news of increment in military salaries, I just hope this is not another audio promise from our president, because our military deserve to earn reasonable amount of money for their lives they are putting in line to defend this country.

Its nice hearing that our military will experience salary increment that is if it will reflect in there pay because in Nigeria we have an audio increment and that is what is mostly noticeable in all sector.
Of a truth the problem of Nigerian military has gone beyond imaginary salary increment although its good there salaries have been increased but what we need is a system where lifes of soldiers are not used for political gambling.
With level we are now it will be of great importance if the military structure is revamped and placed in a situation where political interference will not have any impact in the system the way it do now, then only will any increment made gets to the soldiers meant to receive it

We have being talking about how some captains of the Military wanted to stop the increment of salaries of the soldiers on this board barely two weeks ago and coming to see that the increment has taken place is a thing of Joy to all of us that knows what the soldiers are going through in protecting this country and the number of times they sleep in the bushes and those that have been killed by the terrorist, all this sacrifices for us to be safe so they deserve better, one thing is to sign and implement it immediately it shouldn't be just be heard that it has been increased and the soldiers won't see it

Now that they have increased the salaries, they should make provisions for a better ammunitions for the soldiers too because the bandits have a better weapon than them, so that area should also be looked into. When someone is paid well he or she goes all out to put more efforts in their work so the soldiers will work happily now in defending the country.

It's only in Nigeria that you will see government asking bandits for negotiation what a failed country.

Honestly di idea make sense sha because our military dey deserves better. My opinion for here be say, di increment good but where di real problem dey na inflation. Because if price dey keep dey move up, di increment no go help much. If di president wants dem to feel di impact em go need to work on di economy too.

If di government wan make dis to favor dem, em should work for both salary and cost of living as well. Because our military dey sacrifice a lot just for the country to be in di peaceful state, na military dem dey fight insecurity wey dey happen for di country like kidnapping, bandits, boko haram and all other bad gangs with just small payment for dem. I'm glad the president increase dere salary e fit go along way for dem.

Exciting news for military's officers. They deserve more than the increased amount, though. Nigerian militaries have suffered from low income, and that has led most of them to become bad cops, kidnappers, and dangerous men in society. The increment of salaries will reduce the rate at which military officers are involved in social crime, but it wont stop them from tasking vehicles on the highway as well as taking bribes for crimes committed without the public notice.

It is almost election time. Tinubu has decided to make changes in a lot of things. So that Nigeria will have a change of mind voting him in for the next tenure. I can't think of any reason why he has decided to do all these things now.

I'm surprised that in the same military, some senior officers are against the increment of salaries, knowing fully well that it will benefits their junior officers the most. Those officers need to be stoned because they were happy and comfortable with the way junior officers are suffering and struggling to take care of their basic needs and for their family. The president did a good job for increasing the military salaries but I hope this increment isn't only for the Nigeria Army but the rest of the sisters military are also included in this increment?.

The soldiers are equipped but their problems is that they are been ambush and not well motivated but I believe the part were there aren't well motivated has been settled through this increment of their salaries. Now what is remaining is for the government and the military authority to flush the badd eggs who are selling out classified information about troops and their movements.

Well said, Nigeria still have a long way to go when it comes to security, salary increment is good judging from the current economic hardship in the country but a lot more should be done, if you see the kind of guns the Nigerian military carry you will observe that most are so old, outdated and rusty, with such poor third world armory there is no way this soldiers can combat insecurity effectively. The soldiers should also be enrolled for further military courses in modern warfare, the world has gone past gorilla warfare that is practiced by the Nigerian military, this days both drones, robots  and aircraft with stealth avionics are used for warfare not this old guns our military is using, some soldiers can’t even read nor write like a lot of work still needs to be done to revive the Nigerian military. Though let’s appreciate the little Mr. President has done and hope for better reforms in the military though i know it is politically influenced just to buy the heart of the military this coming 2027 elections.

Dey try use “Allegedly” if you dey talk about sensitive issues like this ooh.. Lol. Back to being serious, the government have the weapons then they should supply it to the military officers in these areas where the bandits are plenty, so they’ll atleast safeguard the life of innocent civilians and farmers in their communities if they want us to believe they’re working on solving the issue.

There a conspiracy theory about this whole insecurity thing, many people believe it’s all about mineral resources in the north and they’re using the banditry to push away the indigenous population of these mineral rich areas, so they can mine and move the resources out of Nigerian illegally without being detected by the Radar.
~snip

Exactly there’s lot more to solving this insecurity problem than just increasing the military salary, even though it’s a good improvement but at this point the military needs more than just that.
