Road to Glory returns - in the most prestigious club competition.
Welcome to the Bitcointalk's Champions League – a season-long competition inspired by the UEFA Champions League, where your team competes across nine months for the ultimate title: Champions of Bitcointalk.
Build your squad, survive the league phase, conquer the knockouts and lift the trophy.

The Concept
The Bitcointalk's Champions League is a long-term, team-based competition designed to run alongside the entire UEFA Champions League season.
Teams of three players compete across a maximum of 17 Champions League gameweeks in a format inspired by the new Champions League system. Every fixture consists of several independent challenges that reward different skills, making teamwork, consistency and strategy just as important as football knowledge.
Unlike traditional prediction contests, every match is a true head-to-head battle where every player contributes to the team's success.

Team Setup

• Each team consists of 3 players. Buy-in per team is 3 mBTC.
• Every player may represent only one team.
• Teams may choose any name they like, provided it is appropriate.
• Every team selects a captain responsible for communication and submissions.
• Teams need to create their own logo or flag (160x100 px) that will be displayed throughout the competition.

We'll help match individual players together before the competition begins.

Competition Format
The competition follows the UEFA Champions League calendar and lasts for the entire season.
Every team is guaranteed at least 10 matches.

League Phase

• Every team plays 8 fixtures against randomly drawn opponents.
• Fixtures are played alongside the eight Champions League league-phase matchdays.
• League standings determine seeding for the knockout stage.

Knockout Stage

• Everyone qualifies for the knockouts — but not equally.
• The highest-ranked teams advance directly to the Round of 16, while the remaining teams enter the Playoff Round, following the Champions League format.
• The exact qualification structure depends on the final number of registered teams and will be announced after registrations close.
• The entire knockout bracket will be generated immediately after the league phase concludes, rewarding teams that performed best during the regular season.
• Every knockout tie is played over two legs, just like the UEFA Champions League.
• Only the Final is played as a single match, where one team will be crowned Champions of Bitcointalk.

Match Format
Every fixture consists of three independent events.
Each player participates in one event per round.

1) Prediction Challenge
• Answer several prediction questions related to upcoming Champions League matches.
• Better score earns 1 point.

2) Goalscorer Challenge
• Select 5 players expected to score during that Champions League round.
• Team with more total goals scored from their picks earns 1 point.

3) Betting Challenge
• Submit a $10 betting ticket on Rainbet with games from the current CL round.
• Minimum of 3 selections, 1.25 odds per selection
• Highest winning odds earn 1 point.

The team captain decides which player participates in which event every round.

The match score is the sum of the three individual duels and can range from 0-0 to 3-0.

Deadlines, Submissions & Results

• Deadlines will be announced before every Champions League round.
• TryNinja's Notifier Bot will be used for reminders.
• Questions will be published at least 24 hours before every deadline.
• Team captains coordinate player assignments and submissions.
• Assignments do not need to be announced publicly and will only become visible after submissions close.
• Missing a submission results in an automatic loss for that particular event.

Prizes & Buy-in
Buy-in per team: 3 mBTC
Sponsor contribution: 100 mBTC

The final prize pool depends on the total number of registered teams.
Currently planned rewards (based on 16 registered teams) are:

• Winner — 45 mBTC
• Runner-up — 30 mBTC
• 3rd & 4th place — 21 mBTC
• 5th–8th place — 6 mBTC
• Golden Ball — 7 mBTC

Golden Ball
Awarded to the player with the most individual H2H victories throughout the competition.

Tie-breakers:
1. Fewer games played
2. Better team placement
If still tied, the prize is split equally.

Freebet Rewards

• 1st–4th place after the League Phase — $150 freebet per team
• 5th–8th place — $90 freebet per team
• 9th–12th place — $60 freebet per team

The final reward distribution may be adjusted depending on the total number of registered teams, but the overall sponsorship amount will remain unchanged.

Nope, we'll only suggest teams for players that apply solo. We won't force teams, or seed players (for now).

The reason is simple - BSFL is a mixture of all sports and isn't the best metric for football only.
During the World Cup RTG, BSFL Division 1 players actually performed below expectations - so no need to separate them or not allow them to group up.

There's also an idea that's in my head regarding transfers - it would be quite fun and every player would have a value attached due to their performance.
That is for the future though - but we don't want to tie our hands from the start by seeding players.

The rules Format is the same as the RTG World Cup so I'm familiar with it and don't need to learn first.

Although it is undeniable that the mafia will always be at the forefront but of course there is always a gap to penetrate lol.

After the huge success of the World Cup RTG, I'm super excited for this! It was a blast in so many ways and having it run across a full 9 month stretch instead of just one month is going to make it even better.

I think you raise a valid point here, there could be some balance issues if stacked teams are formed. It's at least worth having a discussion about it.
One idea could be limiting teams to a maximum of one Division 1 player per squad. Though I doubt the Mafia crew would be too thrilled about that, since they'll definitely want to team up together. Just throwing ideas out there, it'd be great to hear what others think about it to keep things competitive.

Fair point, can't argue with that! Though to be fair that was just a single competition and luck always plays a bit of a role in short tournaments. Over the long run you'd still expect stacked teams to perform better on average.

Either way, I just threw the idea out there, leaving it as it is works fine for me too. Especially since Dar is in Division 1 as well... wait, Capi, are you in?

I was actually thinking which of these competitions will actually be OK to set up like the World Cup and definitely the champions league was what came to my mind and here we go.

I wouldn’t actually declare myself free agent since I have to talk to my team first, I went far because of them the last time and as they say why change when it is not broken yet.

I expect lots of participants in this one because most people enjoyed the World Cup edition own even those who didn’t participate

Good to see another Road2Glory tournament starting after the World Cup RTG.

My team came so close to winning the last Road to Glory, but unfortunately we lost because of the penalty question and to make it even more painful, it was the tiebreaker question. Well good thing we won the Golden Ball.

For me to know, how do one select a team or get selected, I have not been in any Road to glory games from the first reply those who were tagged are possible users that are used to these competitions.

That said I am open to joining a team, from every angle this is a team centered competition and I like it, the part that logo are unique to teams will encourage commitment to the team. I bring a lot to team work so if anyone needs a team member I am up for it

The World Cup RTG tournament was super interesting and being the first of it's kind it was far more competitive than I expected so I expect more this time around.

After captaining my team to a bronze medal in the World Cup I'm definitely not letting this pass me by. Bronze was good but this time we're going for Gold. Already reached out to my teammates, hopefully it'll be the same team as the World Cup.

Not that there are any members from my part of Asia as far as I know - but a team with a player from Northern China and Japan would have been epic (cultural differences from all three of us even if we share the same region)
