The identity/identities of Satoshi is irrelevant to its adoption.

Bitcoin's hindrance to become a mainstream monetary system isn't Satoshi's anonymity. Knowing the person/persons behind the pseudonym doesn't in any way address volatility, scalability, regulatory uncertainty, and other issues.

On the contrary, knowing Satoshi would be detrimental to Bitcoin. I'm sure Bitcoin critics would go into ad hominems in order to try bring down what's otherwise beyond anybody's capacity to destroy.

Thoughts on this. In order to have Bitcoin achieve better credibility to be used more mainstream as a world money system,
Do you think it is important to find the final answer on who Satoshi is actually or was?
Would this bring more confidence to majority of the population in order to want to use BTC as the mainstream money system?

Do you think if we find out the identity of Satoshi that it would increase value? or would it decrease?
First things first, if we, or you, are thinking that Bitcoin could actually become the only system to remain in the world by replacing all the fiat currencies that currently exist then we/you are wrong, because that's not happening, not in a thousand years, because governments are not going to let that happen because the current monetary systems are completely under their control, and they wouldn't let an asset with basically a decentralized system or network take over and take most of the control out of their hands, because if that happens, they won't be able to control any bitcoins other than the ones kept in centralized platforms, self-custody and non-custodial wallets and funds can't be controlled by them.

With that being said, I don't see any reason or logic for why someone would want to know the identity of the creator of a decentralized asset before they use it. I mean, it's not like it's controlled or centralized and you want to know who is the one controlling it, it's decentralized, the network runs through the work put in by miners and it's totally community-controlled, not controlled but powered, I guess. So, there is no reason for anyone to say that they won't use Bitcoin as a currency if they don't know its creator. If people think this way, I think they are better with the fiat currencies they are using.

I don't think that knowing Satoshi Nakamoto's identity is essential for Bitcoin to be recognized as a global currency. Rather, if his identity is identified, it will create a difficult and risky moment for Bitcoin, and whether Bitcoin will be able to withstand that difficult and risky environment is also a matter of concern. In other words, there seems to be no need to identify Satoshi. At the moment, Bitcoin is in a safe position without Satoshi's identity being identified, and when it is possible to identify Satoshi or to identify proof that he is alive, then perhaps Bitcoin will not be a decentralized currency, then Bitcoin will manifest its centrality, which is not a positive aspect for Bitcoin at all.

I don’t want to know who Satoshi is or was. I don’t think it would be of any great benefit to know, it would be a security risk to him and it would create loads of FUD.

He walked away, he doesn’t want to be found. Decentralisation and the anonymity of Satoshi is a positive.
I sincerely don't know why people are interested in knowing who satoshi is and was and I'm curious to know what whole would the identity of satoshi play in bitcoin now and yes I agree with you that it would create FUD and I personally believe that, one of the best things satoshi did for bitcoin was been able to walk away leaving all his previous identity behind.

I'm even curious to know what the reaction of those who have over the years been search and seeking for satoshi's would be if they get to find out that, maybe satoshi wasn't a gentle man or maybe has some very dirty and criminal records , we they still trust the coin?

Let's continue enjoying bitcoin without bothering over the identity of a man who already did the right thing for bitcoin.

Now this does not matter any more who he is. What matters more is what he has delivered to us in the form of a digital decentralized asset.
We and many others are enjoying its benefits. Its quality of being the world's first decentarlized asset make its unique and different thing, which later on time becomes the reason for its higher adoption. Now I think if somehow people come to know he stoshi is, then the Bitcoin market price can crash badly. And even if the Satoshi Nakamoto wallet gets alive, this can also impact the Bitcoin market price badly.

Other than this, it is a necessity for world leaders that they now accept it; otherwise, it opposes their traditional finance system.
This makes them weaker. The traditional finance system uses our money to make themselves rich, but Bitcoin changes a lot of things, and due to this asset, people can hold their money in their own hands without involving or getting help from any third party or centralized system. Well, this is my point of view. DYOR!

Bitcoin is famous with its decentralization but it's too general to talk about Bitcoin like this, and it does not emphasize actual evolution Bitcoin has made so far. Some articles and book with a lot of information and insights to help people learning more about Bitcoin and its evolutionary contributions.

The bullish case for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin: an accounting revolution.
Bitcoin: an accounting revolution that shook the world.

Other than this, it is a necessity for world leaders that they now accept it; otherwise, it opposes their traditional finance system.
Bitcoin would have not accepted by people, companies, financial market, by Wall Street if it had not made an evolution in accounting.

There is no need. In fact, it would jeopardize his safety, besides, Bitcoin was intentionally designed without a leader. The reason retail and institutional investors believe in Bitcoin is precisely because no one can control it, not because of the prominent figures backing it. They believe in its clear rules. 21 million coins, that’s what gives it credibility, not Satoshi face. People believe in Bitcoin not because Satoshi is a good person or a rare genius, but because the rules are written in the code and verifiable by everyone and no single person can change those rules.

If Satoshi's identity were revealed, the price would likely decline or trigger short-term panic, and the image of decentralization would be damaged. Satoshi anonymous identity is part of Bitcoin value, if that identity were revealed, new uncertainty would arise.

Do you think it is important to find the final answer on who Satoshi is actually or was?

Nope, its not important at all. Arguably the main reason adoption isnt going faster than some
expect is because Bitcoin is decentralised which in turn adds to its volatility. Finally getting
Satoshi's identity wont change anything about Bitcoin itself.

Do you think if we find out the identity of Satoshi that it would increase value? or would it decrease?

Its likely the market would drop . . . temporarily and then recover to where it was prior to the
"big reveal"

Why? because Bitcoin is bigger than any one person - even Satoshi.

So Satoshi's identity is revealed tomorrow and he* provides proof that he* is he*, what exactly
do people expect would happen? I find it bizzare that these questions come up from time to time.

In order for Satoshi to implement any change in any way there would have to be consensus,
and his* proposed changes may never be accepted anyway.

people can fantasize....

is it blasphemy to say that I never think about Satoshi until these threads come up?

You can forget about looking for Satoshi, because he's already made it clear that he's moved on from Bitcoin. However, this has more to do with the many parties who are unhappy with Bitcoin if it becomes more widely used. Bitcoin has long been viewed as a threat to fiat currencies and the banking system, and those with a stake in those industries are not happy about the prospect of Bitcoin eventually achieving such widespread adoption. So the use of Bitcoin in the financial system may be heavily scrutinized or even banned in some countries.

Quote

His wallet contains a huge amount of Bitcoin. People would naturally be concerned if his identity were revealed, and this could have a negative impact on market sentiment, as people would start speculating about the coin. But this is just a hypothetical scenario, there's no need to imagine something that may never happen.

To know Bitcoin, we have many good experts and people who have all the information about Bitcoin, but the questions that will be asked on it will create new answers for us. Bitcoin should be studied to understand its benefits technology history and long term value. All this is important. It is difficult for every newbie to read this, but even without them, the complete information about Bitcoin is empty. Understanding Bitcoin is quite good, it improves our knowledge because Bitcoin is a digital assets , due to which making interesting questions is a good test for us. The creator of Bitcoin is not known, but there are enough people who teach Bitcoin, so we should keep learning in its place so that we can make better financial decisions and use Bitcoin safely.

You know i for years i always had suspected a person who is Satoshi.
My reasoning also had nothing to do with bitcoin or anything along crypto just a fascination since i was young with a particular industry.

Now i would be called a crackpot etc etc for who I'm pretty sure it is.

Now imagine my surprised reaction when i read this thread about 40 mins ago and google who i think it is and lo behold he's actually involved with many btc headlines and named by Dr Craig Wright  Shocked

Its what 17 year since btc release Satoshi has 1000s of wallets with millions of dollars in each wallet again 1000s of wallets with millions of dollars in each.

Who in there right mind doesn't touch that ? 17 years wtf.
I'm sorry but no person is not touching that money your mind will make you do it or helping people unless they are dirty rich already and a public figure or they have passed on.

A guy infuriates his bosses by hacking into Clintons agenda for a friend apparently. US UK agencies dig into him see that he's clearly a threat to international fiat and he's on the same side.
Later to be confronted with "we know what you've been building and want all the keys code etc etc" said person either refused or destroyed all keys without trace.

So to send a message to whoever it be said person ends up in a sports bag that was padlocked from the outside.
Acquire a "yes man" launch some vulns or attacks on btc "yes man" assumes Satoshi's identity to play the part with the aim to look genuine but get out clean.

Exactly 9 months later  Roll Eyes April 23, 2011: Satoshi emailed developer Mike Hearn. When asked about his future involvement, Satoshi stated definitively: "I've moved on to other things. It's in good hands with Gavin and everyone."

Exit plan step 1 achieved "yes man is making a exit" after 9 months. Seem like a good time to close down an op  Wink

Step 2 full exit April 26, 2011: His final known email was sent to Gavin Andresen. Satoshi expressed frustration that the media was painting him as an enigmatic "shadowy figure," advising Andresen: "I wish you wouldn't keep talking about me as a mysterious shadowy figure, the press just turns that into a pirate currency angle. Maybe instead make it about the open source project and give more credit to your dev contributors."

Goodbye goodnight zero nada nothing in 15 years not a peep not a sat moved or spent. "yes man" Moved the focus onto new team and exit achieved.

People can bring up the quote about every lost coins etc etc adds value etc etc or if Satoshi spent coins etc etc btc will plummet etc etc
That is complete bs we don't live in them days no more.
Prime example the stock market GameStop 2021 RK now if you know you know if not look it up.
Every time the guy tweets which since the GameStop incident has been almost radio Satoshi esq silence the stock pumps like mad.

People would be jizzing if Satoshi spent a sat or moved to another of his accounts it would make headlines around the world.
All the incidents thefts etc etc new era of computing and radio silence for 15 years after creating

"a piece of open-source software, released quietly on a mailing list, now secures hundreds of billions of dollars if not a trillion with no central bank, no CEO, and no headquarters"

The whitepaper wasn't created by your basement kid it was a well thought years of meticulous dedicated planning with crypto standards that hold to many attacks/thefts etc etc till today read that again withstands crypto attacks till this day secp256k1 sha256 hash160.

Now i wonder who is a person that would create such a thing that was clearly going to infuriate many governments around the world ? People have left this world for trying to make cars run on water and same for other big big businesses tobacco etc etc but here we have a very very intelligent person that has attack withstanding code 17 years and counting ahead of time and clearly big big balls thinking they could stay anonymous against major governments that his creation will hurt.

The biggest decentralized financial network created in human history and not even a sign after 15 years what do you move onto that would ever top that ?

You don't end of the day Satoshi was a spook he also had access to code years and years ahead time and for many more years to come (spook code)also a smart mathematician that went anonymous to the general public but behind closed doors brought attention to himself with his bosses by hacking a president.

Now if Satoshi gave up the keys or was taken etc etc and the government moved funds from Satoshi wallet now to a government wallet btc collapses no doubt about it.

Now when the day comes when fiat collapses and btc becomes adopted currency in USA and UK you will see all Satoshi wallets in government hands where btc cant collapse.

Just my crack pot movie theory.

One assumes that it is understood that the reason Satoshi's identity is unknown is a reference to anonymity itself; it is the idea that anonymity is not an option but a right, and therefore its very essence of maintaining this idea reinforces one of the main characteristics of Bitcoin.

Satoshi not revealing their identity and walking away was 2 more genius moves on top of many genius moves made by Satoshi.  Further fostering and bolstering the pillars of anonymity and decentralization.  There is an old saying that goes "Never meet your heroes."  Nevermore has this been more applicable.

Do you think if we find out the identity of Satoshi that it would increase value? or would it decrease?

why or why not?

This is a pretty old topic and your questions don't add anything new to the discussion.
Bitcoin is as mainstream as possible right now. The Bitcoin/crypto newbies, who are entering the crypto world and buying BTC simply do not care who Satoshi Nakamoto is. Revealing Satoshi Nakamoto's identity won't change anything in how Bitcoin operates. I don't think that it would "bring more confidence to majority of the population". The "average Joe", who knows little(or doesn't know anything) about Bitcoin wouldn't dive a damn if Satoshi's identity was revealed. The people, who are indifferent towards BTC will stay indifferent towards BTC, even if we find out who Satoshi Nakamoto really is.

Satoshi have given a great innovation to the world. All his communication associated with bitcoin has taken place through our forum. His profile is the monument and even without revealing his identity he had done a great achievement, and the community continue to work on it. Also, he had done it discussing with members of our forum. Even the term smallest unit of bitcoin(satoshi) is suggested by one of the forum members. Maybe if his identity was revealed, things could've taken a different track as corporate networks will try to have control over him. So, identity is not important, it is all about the trust it had gained in all forms. In recent years mainstream usage has increased with more people giving importance similar to traditional forms of investment.

Satoshi absence from the public domain is the core strength of bitcoin decentralisation, because all of us have adopted bitcoin because of that fact that bitcoin creator is unknown, we have no business with the individual behind the development f bitcoin and satoshi is aware of that and that is the reason he become private and unknown right from the very start of bitcoin journey and nothing have changed since then and nothing needs to change to make bitcoin better like you said.

Take precedent from all the other cryptocurrencies in the market that it creators are known, how well and widely have their be adopted as mainstream currency, none so what putting an individual privacy on the line because you want others to see the potential in bitcoin like you already seen, I see no reason for that actually.

Before I was really curious about who Satoshi really is. But now, it's not anymore. It's not that I don't care, but for me, there are things that we should just leave it alone or untouched. We've reached the level that only a dream for us before without knowing his identity. So, knowing his real identity or not doesn't matter that much to me anymore. If one day, I discover the real identity of Satoshi, I won't spill it to anyone and just keep it to myself.

Knowing the creator's identity is already a great deal for me, there's no need to share it. I'll just respect his privacy and thank him for his creation, Bitcoin. We are already good having the same cycle, I don't want to break it with his identity revelation coz if ever it will surely affect the price, whether bullish or bearish. The cycle span would probably change. I don't want that.

There is a regional proverb in our country: Eat the fruit; you don't need to find the tree. So it’s better to take advantage of and benefit from Bitcoin; it's not necessary to search for the creator. Bitcoin is truly decentralised by birth, so whether we find Satoshi or not, it doesn’t make any difference for Bitcoin itself.

But eventually if Satoshi is identified, then he will have a bigger influence on the Bitcoin ecosystem, although it’s decentralised. Also, he would have a life risk, and if something happens with him, then it will hugely impact the Bitcoin ecosystem. I wish Satoshi shouldn’t revealed himself until he was alive.

There has been so much discussion about Satoshi's real identity that now even if Satoshi really reveals his identity, no one will believe it. (If this is imaginable) Personally, I feel the matter is like this because people's interest in knowing about Satoshi's issue was there from before but currently it has gone towards relaxation. Still, sometimes I see posts about Satoshi's identity issue in bitcoin discussions and also see discussions from other people, but now I feel that if the discussion is happening, let it happen, there is no need to unnecessarily increase so much talk here.

What Satoshi created from within silence is working as the life of the crypto market. Bitcoin's popularity is increasing day by day and it has also provided a person with the arrangement to move freely without worries while keeping his identity hidden from complete safety.

If bitcoin functioned all this time without the involvement of Satoshi, then Nakamoto’s identity is completely irrelevant. That is the very essence of decentralization: there is no single "center", such as the creator as an individual, through which bitcoin could be influenced.

Would this bring more confidence to majority of the population in order to want to use BTC as the mainstream money system?
It seems to me that the exact opposite is true: bitcoin is trusted precisely because the identity of the person (or people) behind "Satoshi" remains unknown. If nothing is known about the creator, true decentralization is preserved.

Do you think if we find out the identity of Satoshi that it would increase value? or would it decrease?

why or why not?
I would assume this will have a negative impact on the valuation. After all, if this person is alive, it would be possible to influence bitcoin through Satoshi, thereby altering the current state of affairs in the cryptomarket (changing the established "rules of the game" that have formed by now and are currently understood by everyone).
