I don't understand why this isn't discussed in more detail, and even YouTubers are afraid to reveal the true reasons of it. However, I'd like to discuss the story of one fandom that has completely become totalitarian prison, where freedom of speech and artistic freedom is suppressed, all for the "protecting children". The fandom also equate the types of art types they dislike (for example, pro-shipping*) to pedophilia.
*pro-shipping is the position in fandom culture that supports artistic freedom without any restrictions
The vast majority of the internet is simply afraid to stop the totalitarianism in this fandom because of its highly toxic community, builded on a hate of free speech and artistic freedom and persecuting artists of genres they dislike. The internet simply watches this and don't attempts to stop it, and YouTubers who discuss it, side with them when it comes to persecuted groups of artists.
This is dangerous because even after the fandom's destruction, this phenomenon began to spread to other communities, creating a new, massive wave of purity culture*, which even influenced not only fandoms but also the decisions of entire countries to strengthen censorship.
*Purity culture in fandom culture is a position within community culture that supports content censorship and control over content within the community by any methods.
This is FPE (or Fundamental Paper Education) community - a patient zero in the rise of a new wave of purity culture and has built an internet dictatorship in their fandom.
It's noteworthy that this didn't arise out of nowhere, but began to emerge through a series of crises in the fandom (most of the fandom are teens). The communnity get brainwashed by the manipulations of one notable person in that community.
