Yes, I often hear this phrase, "Don't trust, verify", but already a huge quantity of people have run nodes and that is being verified. So if I run a node, where is my benefit here? I am sorry if I have brought up a previous discussion.

You will have privacy while running your own node with Tor. So make sure that you run it with Tor. You will not rely on central server but only use your own node.

The second thing is that you are useful and being part of the reason bitcoin is more decentralized as you add to the total bitcoin nodes.

Your node will also validate bitcoin transactions and mined blocks.

Not everybody will definitely end up running a bitcoin node, but we must see how we could try our best to ensure if possible to run it, because this gives us the maximum privacy and security needed when we are into this, there is nothing bad in learning how to do it and also having the required device specification to achieve this purpose because you may need it to download the full blockchain.

Yes, the best is to download the whole blockchain to run your own node, but some people can go for prune node after reading its disadvantages.

Unfortunately it's not everyone that cares about their privacy, some people would rather sleep in the hands of others for guidance, privacy is far from many, this bitcoin node thing isn't for everyone.

Most people will be fine not running bitcoin node, like a friend from 2019 who knew about Bitcoin before me, I asked him about nodes one time like that and he said he has no reason to run Bitcoin Node and he said he doesn't even know how.

Many people will be fine storing their coins on Coinbase or buying ETFs or holding bitcoin without ever getting involved with Bitcoin Nodes.

The essence of running a personal Bitcoin node, is because they want a privacy and they don't need interference of any body, so they needed to be independent of every transactions they carried out without a third  party, so it's not compulsory that everyone most run a Bitcoin node.

Running your own node is not about giving you security, it is about giving you privacy. Security and safety is another different discussion entirely.

The use of it is for verification and to enforce the rule of Bitcoin, then they may know how to avoid using those third party servers which somehow posses risk.

It maybe optional but this is the best way to use Bitcoin properly.

But if people don't feel like doing it, then well there's no one forcing them. But its good if they try to discover this things, because there are lots of learnings to get from running a Node.

It is not really about helping the whole network it is about having your own proof. Running your own server means not depending on others servers to know what is going on on blockchain.

You can personally check that your transfers are good and the Bitcoin you receive is according to the rules of the network. If you do not have your own server, you are basically putting your trust in someone else software and data.

Many people do not run a server of course since they are comfortable with that level of trust. But for those who want fullest control and secrecy running server gives them more freedom.

Node is not so hard to setup nor  , most people only find it hard to keep it running.

The point of running a node is to help the network.. you can also make use of the wallet .

The extra benefit is that you have a copy of the blockchain.. for devs, they can use it for so many other stuffs.

When you’re trying to run a node, you need to verify the signature before installing it aswell ..  you don’t need to if you can’t keep up, wait till you can comfortably do it.  If your sole purpose is just to use the wallet, you can easily just use SPV wallets like Electrum.

Everyone who really cares about Bitcoin, the decentralization and security aspects of the network
should run a node in full or even a pruned node.

A very appealing advantage to running a node is that you can avail of faster transaction confirmations
by broadcasting your own transaction to the network directly and IIRC Trezor make that possible in their
wallet software. (dont know about other wallets)

I tried it myself a while back through Linux on a chromebook and couldnt even get out of the starting
blocks but I do intend to revisit that at some stage.

Definitely worth a try by anyone remotely interested in more than just what the market does and when
they can take their profit.

Running a Bitcoin node is not mandatory. People who choose to run a node intentionally want to support the Bitcoin network in the little way they can. Furthermore, running a Bitcoin node can help you understand how the blockchain operates. A node is one step to understanding the Bitcoin blockchain.

Check this thread: how to run a bitcoin node

Bitcoin has been good to me.  I'm returning the favor and helping to maintain decentralization by taking on the expense of running a full node.

Better guides on how to run a Bitcoin full node.
[GUIDE] The simplest Full Node guide ever.
[Guide] How to run a Bitcoin Core full node for under 50 bucks!

What are the extra benefits of running a bitcoin node for a person who uses bitcoin?

Yes, I often hear this phrase, "Don't trust, verify", but already a huge quantity of people have run nodes and that is being verified. So if I run a node, where is my benefit here?
When you run your Bitcoin full node, you can run it with Tor, and use your node for broadcasting your Bitcoin transaction. You no longer depend on nodes of the others and with Tor, you will have better privacy.

https://learnmeabitcoin.com/beginners/guide/node/

You can run a Bitcoin prune node with Bitcoin Core too but remember that you should never download Bitcoin blockchain snapshot because you don't know what's inside the snapshot.

When you run a Bitcoin node, either full node or prune node, you must do your Initial Blockchain Download (IBD) that takes time but it is important to do by your own node.

Bitcoin Core pruned blockchain: download it here! (DON'T DO THIS!)

Of course, anyone can use Bitcoin without running a Bitcoin node; then what is the point of running a Bitcoin node?

You are practically supporting the network with validation of transactions, propagation of transactions and blocks, and verifying blocks received from other nodes. If you choose to run a node, then you are enforcing the Bitcoin consensus rules on Bitcoin transactions and blocks, and you may also sometimes enforce policy rules on transactions. For example, Bitcoin Knots does not accept and relay OP_RETURN transactions with large amounts of arbitrary data under its default policy, most Knots nodes even disable this option because they believe the Bitcoin network is not for arbitrary data, while Bitcoin Core allows larger OP_RETURN arbitrary data, but its default policy limits them to 100KB, unlike Knots with 83bytes limit. There are many other policy rules, but these are the reasons I have seen people run nodes to support the Bitcoin network independently.

There are benefits like your privacy. You get better privacy when you run your own Bitcoin node, and the statement "Don't trust, verify" means that if you do anything on the Bitcoin network, you are relying on other nodes. Besides, you are giving away your privacy anytime you do that. The node is going to have your IP address and your wallet address, and such data are what chain analysts use for statistics. In case you don't know, such data is expensive and is being sold to other companies that need it. In fact, people buy premium accounts to use such data.

What or who is a "Bitcoiner"?
This is not a trivial question but a real doubt on how to classify users of a technology. Are we making the same with other technologies/users - that requires a certain grade of expertise?
I think that you can use bitcoin and being a bitcoiner in many useful way.
There are many ways to achieve the best setup - mostly would be based on what you're looking for from the technology. It's not all the time possible to have a node active, but I would see this definetely as the best privacy oriented solution.

Yes, I often hear this phrase, "Don't trust, verify", but already a huge quantity of people have run nodes and that is being verified. So if I run a node, where is my benefit here? I am sorry if I have brought up a previous discussion.

The answer I would have loved to give is that, yes every Bitcoin investor should be able to run their own Bitcoin node but that's unlikely to happen because not everyone here is for the privacy that the industry offers. Some people are just here for the money gain from price appreciation and alot of them fall under this category. Still, if you have the privilege to run your own Bitcoin node then do it as it offers you a lot of privacy. I haven't ran a Bitcoin node before but that doesn't mean I won't try to do it in the future, just that I'm not that big yet in transacting with Bitcoin right now as it's accumulating I'm big on to position myself well for good wealth accumulation.

What or who is a "Bitcoiner"?
For me, if what you do is only invest in Bitcoin, I dont think that automatically makes you a Bitcoiner.

To really call yourself a Bitcoiner, I think you should be someone who actively follows and supports Bitcoin, understands how it works, and maybe even does things like running a Bitcoin node. That shows a deeper involvement than simply buying and holding.

Personally, im not that expert. Im mostly just into buying and holding. Even though ive been in the forum for a long time, I still dont really consider myself a Bitcoiner.

Take it easy mate.

In my opinion, people who own and hold bitcoin a long time are all deserved to be called as Bitcoiners because these actions show that they strongly believe in Bitcoin and future of this blockchain and the coin too. I disagree to set up too strict criteria for defining who are Bitcoiners.

Honestly, we have no rights to define what the others are or are called, so again, take it easy.

People who only buy bitcoin for short term profit, speculating in the market and exit the market forever can not be considered as Bitcoiners but if they repeat it a long time, I think they are Bitcoiners too because they are necessary parts of Bitcoin community and market.

Of course, anyone can use Bitcoin without running a Bitcoin node; then what is the point of running a Bitcoin node?

What are the extra benefits of running a bitcoin node for a person who uses bitcoin?

Yes, I often hear this phrase, "Don't trust, verify", but already a huge quantity of people have run nodes and that is being verified. So if I run a node, where is my benefit here? I am sorry if I have brought up a previous discussion.

I have run a bitcoin full node earlier and to be honest, the main reason why anyone would run a bitcoin node is privacy and decentralization.
You don't have to depend on a 3rd party to use a block explorer to verify any transaction as you can do it yourself, thus you improve your privacy.
You contribute towards decentralization of the bitcoin network by adding your bitcoin node to the network.

It's like ordering food vs cooking it yourself Cheesy nodes are veery necessary but running one isn:t mandatory. Btc would be dead if they were mandatory, they help with decentralization but they're kinda resource hungry
