There was a tweet from a Twitter user who regretted selling his Bitcoin too early. And perhaps he is one of the Bitcoin OG’s who once traded Bitcoin at a very low price. Greg Schoen is someone who has said that he wishes he still held onto the several thousand Bitcoin he once owned. But he can only lament his mistake for selling them too soon, where at the time he regretted selling his Bitcoin at $0.30. And he regretted it because Bitcoin subsequently rose to $8 per coin. I personally think he still feels regret today considering that Bitcoin now commands a truly fantastic price. And it seems he still can’t let it go given that he was still tweeting about it in 2022 even though he had turned that old tweet into an NFT sale by then.

The halving cycle is still a long way off. And around each halving period Bitcoin offers the potential for profit because Bitcoin is becoming increasingly scarce and even demand for it is increasing across various sectors. Just because Bitcoin’s price has dropped slightly doesn’t mean you should sell it right away. You just need to be patient so you won’t regret it later. If you manage to hold out for a long time then you’ll reap the rewards of your patience all this time. Do you still think you’ll sell your Bitcoin at a low price? And aren’t you convinced that Bitcoin’s price will be very profitable for you? Please share your thoughts as well.
I believe every human being should learn how to save, even if it's not Bitcoin, people should learn how to reserve and keep a good portion of what they have as an asset, the reason why Greg Schoen is regretting now after selling is his coin for $0.30 is because Bitcoin had grown over the years, trust me, if Bitcoin was a project that later failed, he would have been writing articles congratulating himself how he saw what others didn't see coming. If he was visionary enough and he was patient and not in a rush to sell some of his assets, you will see that he didn't take too long before the Bitcoin market started rising in an astronomical level, it simply tell me that he wasn't a patient man. From the analysis it is understandable that if he had waited till bitcoin had gotten to $8 per coin, it then means he would have sold everything he had too.

There are many regrets from the past, especially for those of us who were already here early but were not able to benefit from Bitcoin in a big way. Thats understandable, but we could not see the future at that time, so we just have to accept what happened.

We still have a future ahead of us, so maybe thats where we should focus. Regret will not bring anything back. We are only human and we make mistakes, thats just part of life.

Even me, I have some regrets, but I try to convince myself that things happened for a reason. Maybe I would already be a millionaire now if I didnt sell early, and many others probably have the same story.

But what matters now is not who we were back then, its what we can do moving forward. We can prepare better and learn from those past mistakes.
BTC is less than 100k now, if we buy we might be able to sell at 1M each.

This post might also be historical after some years. We might look back and remember that Bitcoin was 64,978 today because it might get to hundreds of dollars in the future. No need to regret the past because there are still opportunities to accumulate Bitcoin. It might be expensive now, but DCA strategy will be helpful.

This is true, there is never a regret in selling except you sold at a loss but every profit is a profit. I see many posts of now actually look into this guys in the past and then think that they were dumb to actually have sold then but I bet you 90% of the current investors wouldn’t have been able to hodl their bitcoins too because the prices will actually have triggered their emotions plus how many people did believe that bitcoin would actually survive till now?

The same way we called out those who sold when the prices were just cents will be same way we will be laughed or questioned about selling around the highs we have when bitcoin probably does a 5x to 10x in the future. So I don’t see anything wrong in those who sold that early, it would have taken a firm believer to have actually bought and held for that long

But the fact is, selling Bitcoin too early isn't always a loss. Personally, I have never regretted spending my Bitcoin on useful things in the past; I view it as part of my journey. Sometimes, when sharing my story, I need concrete proof that Bitcoin is useful, the price doesn't matter.

Selling 1,700 Bitcoin at $0.30 made perfect sense at the time, as Bitcoin had no established value back then and there were no exchanges trading it widely. At the time, the majority of people bought Bitcoin merely to experiment or for other reasons, after all, no one knew then what Bitcoin would become ten years later. Just imagine, the rise to $8 back then left Greg Schoen full of regret; I can't even picture the look on his face when he sees that the price has now reached tens of thousands of dollars. think that’s the reason he kept posting those tweet up until 2022 because the wound of "selling too early" never healed.
Nevertheless, Greg Schoen decision at the time was highly rational, yet we can draw a valuable lesson from the incident. Instill in yourself the mindset that the goal of investing in Bitcoin isn't necessarily to sell at the absolute peak, but rather to avoid the regret of selling everything too soon.

The tweet was made during the year 2011. By that time the price reaching $8 per bitcoin was a big rise similar to what we experienced recently when bitcoin marked the ath. Based on the price history the price of bitcoin was around $0.30 around the starting month of 2011 and the mentioned $8 was reached during the month of May. This is not a early selling, because price movement were unpredictable and it is really hard to understand during the very beginning days. Even after these many years people weren't able to predict the perfect price move. There were speculations that the price would reach new ath. So, rather than regretting it is always good to enjoy what we were able to make.

Those who sold their Bitcoins at the beginning of Bitcoin and could not hold them when the price increased slightly are regretting it like a heart attack today. The holder who sold his 1,700 Bitcoins for just 30 cents made a profit of almost five times that moment, but he later regretted it when the price hit $8. If you think about it now, there is no limit to his regret. If he could have kept 1,700 Bitcoins at this moment, he would have become a multi-billionaire at this moment. In other words, time has shown that the longer those who have been able to hold Bitcoins, the more they have benefited. Bitcoin is actually a coin suitable for long-term holding and those who can hold it for this period will be the gainers in the future.

Normal for people to think that way, especially when they look at the current prices of Bitcoin at that time. Imagine what that dude feels now when he saw Bitcoin reach at double digit figures or even when it hits at 6 digit ATH.

For sure more bigger regrets would came up on his side. But can't blame them to sell early at that point, we don't know what's going to happen in future and Bitcoin is somehow unknown coin before.

I hope he buy Bitcoin again, since if he just live on the shadow of the past and will not do any action by holding Bitcoin. That same dude will provably post again on why they didn't buy Bitcoin before while they can afford to accumulate at that rate before.

When people who sold look back at the price they sold at and compare it with the current price naturally they should feel bad but regretting your actions of selling means their decision was greatly influenced by profits that's why they are pained seeing they could have earned more if they had hold on a little longer.

As long as you are well convinced about your decision to sell then what happens in the future shouldn't be your concern, your concern should be making the best out of the money you bagged and looking to invest ahead of the future.

No one actually expected Bitcoin price to move as fast as this and so even if they were to be taken back in time they'd still not hold on this long, they will eventually sell at some point.

In hindsight it's easy to blame early adopters for selling their Bitcoin early. However at the time there was absolutely no indication how massive crypto was going to be. Many people including Bitcoin developers like Mike Hearn lost their wallets early on (confirmed via email to Mr. Hearn). Some OGs bought and sold bitcoin with each price cycle, the small profits earned seemed enough at the time. So saying they weren't patient isn't accurate.

Those people who sold their Bitcoin early never knew that the price of Bitcoin would go as high as this in such a short time. If they had known, they might not have taken such action by selling it early. In the early stages of Bitcoin, most people who were holding Bitcoin were just holding it for for different reasons, but I don't think particularly as an investment. So, even when they were holding it and the price of Bitcoin increased, they simply sold it because they see it as opportunity. But as far as they sold it for a profit, I don't expect them to regret their actions because they may have had their reasons for doing so.those who are more likely to regret their actions are those sold their Bitcoin at lose. The point is that we cannot all be perfect. Some people have to make mistakes and others will learn from those mistakes.

In fact, there are some people who did not sell their Bitcoin early and kept holding it for the long term, but when the price became higher, they could no longer find their seed phrase. That is how they lost Bitcoin that may have been worth millions of dollars. So, those who sold their Bitcoin early may think that it was a bad decision, but I feel it was not necessarily a bad decision because they had their reasons for doing so. Their decision may have been a very good one at that particular period base on their level of knowledge, but later, things changed and made it look like a bad decision.Sometimes a decision that seems bad today may have been the right decision based on the information someone had at the time.

I would sincerely want to agree with your line of thought, at least a lot of them didn't know how massive Bitcoin will later turn out to be. now take for a example, if you have 10 acres of land, probably in an undeveloped area, and somebody's comes to price it, would be right for you to sell the entire 10 acres, wouldn't you think of probably selling half of it, then keep the rest, probably you might need to develop it in the nearest future, or at least keep some inheritance to your up springs. My point is that, it would be proper you don't sell the entire asset that is in in your possession, from that narration, that guy was having Bitcoin in thousands.

He regretted that he could not sell it $8, but look where it is now. I have seen many more people like him. They might not have thousands of bitcoins like him, but they had good amounts of Bitcoin 10 years ago and traded them in the short term for small profits. Now they also regret not holding them instead of trading them for small profits.

This has changed the psychology of a lot of people. After these incidents, a lot of scammers have started claiming that their coin is the next Bitcoin. They make people think that if they don't hold it, even though it wouldn't cost them much to hold it, they could miss out on the same opportunity that early Bitcoin sellers missed.

So people buy their shit and hold a token that is essentially nothing but a lie.

Anyway, this person is a legend. Whether his story is real or not, it is a huge lesson for people who still think Bitcoin is expensive, but I don't think it is.

This is a regular reason why people advice not to sell your bitcoin too early, and the reason is that you will rue that decision for too long you may not heal from it.
If I had listened or sympathize with this people I don’t do that anymore because they would have not kept the bitcoin they sold for anything in the world.
Dont sell your bitcoin and if you do then the regret does not matter.

When people are not patient enough to hodl there BTC for long they always regret for selling too soon when the price of bitcoin start increasing, this is one reason why investors are advise never to sell early as BTC is a rewarder of long time holders if you sell too early because of small gain you will always regret doing that when the price of bitcoin start to skyrocket in the future. Though some person might sell due to some life challenges but at least it shouldn't be all some portion can be sold while you can still hold the remaining for future purpose.

Haha, Bro there are literally countless stories like this one that you can find on the internet because it is full of such stories. Anyways, just think about this: he is regretting it when it reached only $8 and what his mental health would be right now. When Bitcoin reached $127k in the recent bull season. Have you checked this person's profile? If he is still alive, he must be weeping in the corner, haha.

Yeah, we know the history of Bitcoin, that showed that it has been increasing its market capital over time after each halving period again and again. So if anyone is buying Bitcoin these days, then, from my point of view, holding bitcoin really worth it for the next ten years. Till then, we can get the chance of almost two halving cycles, and the chances are really higher bitcoin will gain a lot till that time. DYOR!

You could imagine how he felt when Bitcoin got to the current all time high of $126,000 in October 6th of the previous year, such feeling is why people shouldn't rush into selling over a little profit whereas they've not held long enough, it always comes with a rue that hurts so bad when the price goes up years later.

Bitcoin is a coin that increases on the long run so it's supposed to be held with believe that it would improve as it's done in the past, if holding wasn't important people wouldn't bother doing that and Bitcoin would've been irrelevant currently.

It pays to hold than to sell, as long as you are not going to hold on a centralized exchange, holding your bitcoin on a non-custodial wallet is a perfect choice, while even if you decided to sell, consider not selling at loss, you have to be able to release for selling when you are already profitable with your investment in Bitcoin, this is why so many people tends to hold and achieve their maximum profitability before deciding on selling.

It is not a loss if you sell at a profitable price, buy low and selling high is the goal of every investor. I disdain investors who sell at a lower price, even if the gain isn't much, buying at $60K and selling at $63K is making profits, but selling anything less than the buy price is a big turnoff.

Applying long term goals is important for greater reward, short term investors often regret selling early.

We can't really tell if the price of Bitcoin would continue to rise or drop because of volatility and an investor with this knowledge of the market knows that it is only right to sell at the duration you have set, at the exact price of the market you envision because of the potential of the price rising and until this is achieved, why sell?

Even if an early investor sells their holdings at a wrong time, it is never  too late to start again to accumulate, so I see no reason why the example of the person OP cited is a concern, knowing fully well that the market is still open and profit can still be made in the future from holding more Bitcoin from today.

Comparing things like these never makes sense because people take good profit from their investment for the time being. In the early years, there was too much negativity about Bitcoin, and people were not sure how things would work because many big influencers were calling this a Ponzi or dead, but the good thing is it still makes its way and has this level now.

Too much drama happened in the early days with everyone remembering the pizza for bitcoin and many more things done, which still exist, and people are enjoying this adventure now. It's a good time to take lessons and have a positive mind because people like us are surely going to regret missing this chance and having no holding because of the good potential, and still the chance of going to another ATH is possible.

Always be ready for things that can bring good change in the future and in life now. Having 1700 bitcoins is a dream for many because the current price is surely too high.
