If they increase the price of goods and maintain the quality, that increase their cost and also impact to the profits which could reduce. Many companies reducing their quality slowly because the materials increases and that affect to their business.

The house goods now are reduced its quality but with more expensive price. We can't say much as the companies will gives the reason that is because they can cover the cost if they still using the old price. So they increase the price so they can still running their business but with lower quality.

But we have more options to buy the similar goods as many companies also releases the similar to the market. We might not know how hard the competition at the market so we only disappointed with the quality.

Till now I can't find any justifying reason for this selfish misconduct of manufacturers, since they have decided to increase the price why then reduce the size and quality with an increase in price.  On this i will say all this is just because we lack good monitoring system in our society today, if there this was in existence such reduction in quantities won't have been in existence.
The inflation i know is different from wickedness and selfishness that is practically seen in the lifes of all this manufactural. The true meaning of such behaviour is wickedness and not inflation because inflation only affects the price of products but do not affect the size and qualities of products.

Now my question is, why can these industries not increase the price of goods and maintain the quality? why is there an increase in price and then still the quality is being reduced. I have noticed this across so many other product in my countries market, not just this yogurt drink.

I know that this will not be so if my country has a good quality control unit, but even without that, why can these industries not act right and maintain quality, is reducing the quality of product while increasing the price not directly affecting their business?
It is very bad if despite the increase in the price of the commodity, there is a reduction in its quality, because inasmuch as I do not know your country, and how your economy might have been lately, it's unprofessional for a business to reduce it's quality as a result of inflation. Because one thing they failed to understand is that their will always be an available market for the company to sell it's product if only they are able to maintain the quality. But for the fact that they have now reduced its quality despite increasing the price of it, if I was to be in your shoe I will definitely just abandon the ice cream, because what drew me to it was because of its quality. However, there is also another factor that might contribute to this, which is poor management, because when a company shifts hand, it's quality can never remain the same, even though it still maintains the same brand name.

I don't know if this is only particular to my country but there's something I've observed about industries and the products they make that I would like to point out for discussion.

I visited a regular shop where I buy home commodities and I remember some few years ago that there used to be a particular yogurt brand that I used to enjoy because of its thickness and creaminess and considering that the weather was hot I went ahead to pick up this drink from their refrigerator, went to the counter to pay, I was not shocked to see that the price is no longer what it used to be, it is now more expensive than before, I was not shocked because I understand that things have toughened up in the economy. That was not my disappointment, my disappointment was that the quality of the product has dropped so much even with the price increase.

Now my question is, why can these industries not increase the price of goods and maintain the quality? why is there an increase in price and then still the quality is being reduced. I have noticed this across so many other product in my countries market, not just this yogurt drink.

The phenomenon of a product’s quality declining whilst its price rises must occur in almost every country, as there’s actually a technical term for it. I’ve just looked it up, and there are terms such as ‘skimpflation’ and ‘shrinkflation’. It was mentioned above that this sort of thing doesn’t happen in America, but of course it does happen there too – after all, the terms have been coined. But naturally, I’d assumed this happened most frequently in my own country, so seeing such a problem here surprised me a little. But as I said, these are things that can happen anywhere. Almost everyone in the world is feeling the effects of inflation.

Do you think there will be a serious reason for price of goods to increase while it qualities decreases? There I no tangible reason, it can only be selfish interest if some manufacturers who will hide under inflation and make more money from people while the quality of their product is tempered with. If price in increased and the quality is maintained, there will be no much problem since we all understand inflation, but if the qualities reduces while the price increases, it is called extortion and the government should do something about it because it might affect the lives of their citizens.

Prices of products are increasing, but their quality is decreasing, and this has become very noticeable. You can tell if a product you're buying is of poor quality, and now it's easy to see and evaluate how many things actually are on social media.

Manufacturers are also affected by inflation, but it's unacceptable for quality to decrease while prices rise. Products need to last a long time, but because their quality is no longer what it used to be, the lifespan of many products has also decreased. Everyone is affected by inflation, but some are using it for their own gain.

What you are saying has a lot to do with product quality and this has nothing to do with inflation it's just greed. Most of these fake products are being sold at high prices compared to what the original ones were sold for and this is not due to anything pertaining to the economy, it is purely greed. A lot of times people just want to produce something with cheap materials so they can sell it at a very high amount to make more profits but they don't care if these products would be of harm to the people that they sell them to, it's heartbreaking.

A lot has changed from my childhood till date due to inflation. In fact, I will say that those junk food we buy way back that was cheap and rich has lost its richness and the price is even high. Last time, I told a kid when he bought a particular kind of biscuit that the biscuit has lost its quality compared to when I was a kid.

I believe both of them are the problem inflation and greed. I don't feel comfortable buying snacks or drinks that I can prepare at home because it's a waste of funds to me.
Inflation is already given, we cannot do something much about it. But we can always make a product with good quality. After all, people are paying the price increase, so they deserve a good product as well. No need to compromise the taste, that's how the people love it so it should not be changed.

Personally, I see this as greed. Manufacturers are not losing because it comes with a good price, its the customers that are clearly at loss because they don't deserve a low quality product that does not fit its high price. With greed, all businesses will fail eventually.

Inflation may increase the price of goods, but the lowering of the quality of others actually indicates more than inflation that corruption is increasing in your country. Traders have started selling low-quality products in the hope of more profit and various factories are providing other low-quality supplies. It may also be that you are not getting authentic products but rather copy products are circulating in the market. Such corruption in food products is a very bad thing.

People easily accept the increase in the price of a product due to inflation because it is normal and it happens in every country but the percentage is more or less. However, marketing low quality products is a very bad thing. It is probably happening in your country but in my country it is not seen that the quality of the product is being reduced while keeping the price of the product constant.

It is definitely greed and not inflation, this greedy set of people that own small company are capitalizing on economic inflation and reducing the value of their products and still increasing the Price, making life so miserable and difficult for the poor masses. I know this happen in only developing countries that the government are not regulated  or don't care  about the implications it may have on people or moreover the bad leaders may even have hand in those atrocities, you wouldn't know. They may be hiding under the mask and doing as if they are free from those trickish behavior. This is what is currently happening in my country, almost the value of everything has dropped and yet the Price still maintain it value, isn't that a daylight fraud or robbery?

These things are not only in the case of yogurt but in every field nowadays it is seen that the good and quality products that were available earlier are no longer available in the same way. It is not only because of inflation but the overall situation has become like this. That is, increasing prices, reducing production costs and keeping profit margins the same, and on top of everything there is inflation.

Many companies increase prices, but at the same time use cheaper ingredients in the production process or change the ratio of ingredients. As a result, even if the consumer gets the same packet, they do not get the same taste, density or creaminess as before. Also, many companies think that no one else can offer their alternative products, which is why competition between brands is weak, as a result quality verification is difficult and the control system is weak. In the end, the consumer mainly decides based on price and has nothing to do.

Manufacturing companies are businesses that are driven on profits and when they find an excuse to exploit profit from the consumers they do it. I will not place the blame on them as much as I will do on the government. Is not this why we have government? They are repository of authority to regulate and ensure standards in product and service delivery.

But when a government fails in this responsibility, may be cause the officials own some of these manufacturing companies, which could be the reason behind the many oversight in the lots of exploitation for high profit that does not match products quality for the consumers.

This is greed hiding from the mask of inflation. People can be greedy when it comes to money, this is no different from gambling or trading. Even in business where every owner or manufacturer prioritize huge profits, they can make unreasonable things for their own interest. But greed in any form will not succeed. That's already proven a lot of times.

You can be greedy and take advantage of the people's money, but the moment they will find a good replacement of your product, they will never come back. Inflation may be out of our control, but being greedy we can do such things to prevent or stop it.

I will honestly say it's greed and this is what most companies are doing now this behavior is common in my country no company want to be back ward goods and commodities that use to be cheap with high quality and quantity is now very expensive with low quality and quantity though sometimes i blame the economy which is what the government brought to us. Every thing is at high price now both transportation due to the high cost of Petro too so these companies actually bought everything they use on high price and this also affected the price and quality of their products.

These are very common in our country. In our country, all products are adulterated, so it is difficult to get any genuine product.

You mentioned Yogurt, so if I talk about Yogurt made in our country, you will be disappointed. Some unscrupulous people in our country even use toilet tissue to make Yogurt. This not only spoils the quality of the product but is also harmful to health. Is this happening because of inflation? No, I would say they are greedy, due to which they are chasing more profits.

There are some companies in our country, who initially improve the quality of their products to gain a good reputation. But when they become known in the market, they gradually start reducing the quality of the products.

While I may not be an expert on this specific issue, consider how China dominates the market with products often perceived as lower in quality compared to those of competitors.
This demonstrates the complex strategies they employ to navigate a highly competitive landscape.
Last year, I saw a short video from someone in China revealing that the production cost of a certain product was incredibly low, yet it was sold overseas at a premium price.
We can infer from this that low-cost production often stems from massive production of scale, allowing companies to market these goods at significantly higher prices.

Market segmentation likely plays a key role here some countries prioritize high-quality products regardless of the cost, while others opt for affordable options, even if the quality falls short of premium standards.

Price control is something my country hasn't been paying attention to. As a capitalist state, price control is supposed to be among the  priorities of government; not just quality control because it's inherent in businesses to make profit. Every business is out there to exploit users, whether they admit it publicly or not. It's what it's. It doesn't matter whether it's in a developing country or not. Man is man everywhere, if not checked.

I know that this will not be so if my country has a good quality control unit, but even without that, why can these industries not act right and maintain quality, is reducing the quality of product while increasing the price not directly affecting their business?

This is a combination between "greedflation" and ""shrinkflation". You can google those terms. Maybe we should come up with another term "lowqualityflation" or something similar. Perhaps the company decided to lower the quality of their products because the raw materials got expensive, so they replace them with cheaper and lower quality raw materials. If the product quality drops and the product price goes up, the sales of that particular product would probably suffer a massive drop. I don't know anything about the yogurt market in your country.
If there's not enough competition between the manufacturers, companies like the yogurt manufacturer you are talking about would easily get away with such expensive and lower quality foods. Maybe there's a cartel in that particular market.

I know exactly how OP felt, I've been there too but the problem is people only make noise about this in their home, no one is calling out their government to do something about this problem.

Also there is big injustice in the country, maybe that's why people don't want to come out and complain? These companies are always ready to sue anyone too and for people who are struggling to meet some financial target they would not want this fight.

This is total greed, if anyone item is going to cost it's the price that will go up, not the quantity of the product going down with it, this is very common in my country. .m

You probably misunderstood the OP or didn't read properly, because this is not about fake products that are copies of the original ones, but this is about the original products losing their quality and having higher prices than before despite the fact that their quality is not the same anymore. There is no doubt that every single product in this world will have its copies, which will be manufactured and sold by other companies and not the original company, and those products are obviously not going to have the same quality as the original ones, and this often becomes a problem because vendors scam their customers by selling them fake products at the price of the original product.

However, as I said, this discussion is not about companies creating fake products and charging a lot for them, but it is about companies and their original products losing quality over time, and I have also observed this thing. This mostly happens with food or edible products, but it's not limited to that. Even if it's a product of general use, we often see that the quality standard that we used to see in the past isn't maintained in the present, and this could have to do with a change of management staff, and surely it is all related to greed and not just inflation, because if it was because of inflation, they could maintain the quality and just charge more for it, which would be understandable.

Brother what you are mentioning is called skimpflation plus a mix of inflation stuff as well. Actually companies doing this because of many factors like when the production cost of there product increases then at that stage companies start thinking like what if we increase the price or decrease the quality or some companies did both. For example if a dairy company want to make a yogurt after that they start making process and then milk and energy also packaging and transportation and wages becomes more expensive then the companies simply increases the selling price and some trying to lower its production cost by using cheaper ingredients .
