Inflation may increase the price of goods, but the lowering of the quality of others actually indicates more than inflation that corruption is increasing in your country. Traders have started selling low-quality products in the hope of more profit and various factories are providing other low-quality supplies. It may also be that you are not getting authentic products but rather copy products are circulating in the market. Such corruption in food products is a very bad thing.

People easily accept the increase in the price of a product due to inflation because it is normal and it happens in every country but the percentage is more or less. However, marketing low quality products is a very bad thing. It is probably happening in your country but in my country it is not seen that the quality of the product is being reduced while keeping the price of the product constant.

I don't think it's always right to say that it's directly due to corruption. Sometimes when production costs increase, companies try to reduce costs by  using cheaper raw materials, which is called skimpflation. However, the biggest problem is that people may accept the price increase to some extent, but at the same time, if the quality decreases, obviously it hurts customer trust.  If you have such an experience with a brand several times, it is normal to choose another brand next time, even if the price is a little higher.

This can only happen in a developing country, it's a playing ground where people like robbing themselves up in the name of the country is now harder than what it used to be, this is something that would land that company in big problem if it happens in America.

I also believe that developed countries have standard organisations that monitors the quality of products that is in their market and anyone that doesn't meet the their highest standards the company would be shutdown and the owners will be prosecuted. Producers and importers in those countries knows the consequences of not meeting up to the country's standards.

To buy anything in a developing country itself isn't safe anymore because you can buy something that will end up killing you, many things aren't original like they used to be anymore. Be careful what you buy and eat or drink.

It is very unfortunate that many producers who produced substandard goods gets away with their wickedness in developing countries because the standard organisations are very weak, the officials collect bribe to overlook substandard products that circulates in the market. Before they will act unless there is too many complains about a product that they can no longer ignore, probably it clearly harming the consumers.

It's ten times safer when you prepare your food in your house yourself, people don't put effort in what they do best anymore because the return they will get is not changing anything for them, they got tired but keep going because they have no other choice.

I agree with you that if you have the ingredients and time to prepare your own food and beverages it is better for you because you will make sure that it is hygienic and you will make it to your satisfaction according to your ingredients. Except for reputable products and restaurants in developing countries you are likely to buy substandard products in the market.

Prices of products may increase because they have other expenses that needs to manage. Their costs do not mainly focus on the ingredients of the products but there are other costs at the same time. As consumer, we only see the final product such as yogurt drink that you usually buy. However, for manufacturers, they also need to consider the packaging, transportation, labor, and any other expenses.

Due to these reasons, the manufacturers need to reduce the quality even if they increase the price because they are trying to avoid having a larger price hike and keep the product affordable for their consumers. This has been the case even before, because the manufacturers believe that their consumers will continue to buy their product even if the price increase with lower quality.

Things like that should not be overlooked because if it's a consumer product, their are chances that it may have a negative effect on our organ, so just changing to a different brand is not the solution, but rather, that brand should be reported and persecuted because reducing quality is a serious problem that almost everyone will struggle to ignore, especially when the price is also high.

Things like this are stopped by the government because if their agencies that checkmate goods quality, especially the ones for consumption are effective, companies would not want to take such a risk by producing things with inferior quality because they knows that if they are caught, their business or company may be closed down, but if the government are not doing anything about it or the bodies in charge of tracking such organizations are not that effective, they will definitely feel at home and even get worse as time passes by.

I just can't get it straight, I'm finding it so hard to reason your statement. I don't think that should be an excuse, because when the cost of production increases, the price of the commodities also increases, so I need to understand their essence of increasing the price of the commodities when they are making use of cheaper raw materials for production. When the price of commodities increases, I usually assumed that they are using the extra money (the remaining percentage) to balance the equation due to increased in the cost of production, but at the end of the day you will realize that the quality of the products decrease, instead of it to maintain its normal quality, it still doesn't make sense. Some companies are taking advantage of the increase in the cost of production to increase the price of commodities and make use of cheaper raw materials for them to gain more profits, this is greediness.

Your government is more interested in taxing the companies than it is to checkmate quality, that is why the companies do what they can to meet up with the taxes imposed on them by increasing prices slightly and reducing quality so that it can still be a bit affordable, all to the detriment of the consumer. Your government knows the situation of these products, but doesn't wish to act in that regard since they are meeting up with the renumeration assigned to it. Even if the control units want to act, these companies have coverage from a higher authority, further crippling the impetus of such control units.

Industries want to make profits, and whereby your government is increasing taxes and they see that a higher corresponding increase in price would make the products unaffordable by the common man who is their target consumers, they play around the quality to remain in business.

The only solution to this is seeking out products that still has good quality, but of higher prices. Here in my country, I have refrained from taking any other yoghurt apart from Greek yoghurt which still maintains it's quality but is much higher in price and smaller in quantity compared to others. I always prefer quality over quantity.

 At the ending of the day, all production companies want to make maximum profit from per unit production and one reason they have the power to do that his consumers loyalty to brands instead of quality. Till now I can't find any justifying reason for this selfish misconduct of manufacturers, since they have decided to increase the price why then reduce the size and quality with an increase in price.  On this i will say all this is just because we lack good monitoring system in our society today, if there this was in existence such reduction in quantities won't have been in existence.
The inflation i know is different from wickedness and selfishness that is practically seen in the lifes of all this manufactural. The true meaning of such behaviour is wickedness and not inflation because inflation only affects the price of products but do not affect the size and qualities of products.

This happens in countries where government does not keep a check on quality of products sold in the market or consumer rights are not well looked after. In such countries manufacturers are free to earn money by charging more on products they are selling and when asked why they are doing so, they blame inflation for all that. In the end its the consumer that has to bear the burden of inflation as well as greed of manufacturers. Its duty of government to keep a check on products sold in its regime.

When you do bricklaying and the cement climbs in price, you also need to raise prices. Or your helper need more due to whatever..

National greed and local greed (industrial greed). The economic dimension and stand of every nation speaks volumes of industrial quality and quantity of product and the price likewise. When the nation is not there for her people as per government interventions in human and environment development, the people carried away by such situation will do the same in there various industry. This kind of governance (national greed) will cause inflation but the industries will not only be affected by inflation out of national greed, they'll for sure apply their greed which will affect the quality and price even quantity of products.

Everyone is reporting this, even I am facing the same situation here. I guess it is everywhere, especially where the quality control authorities are not doing their job rightly. People who usually run these businesses are not educated enough, so they don't respect the authorities' employees. I have seen many fighting videos of them, which end up in the closure of the shops.

These companies can easily maintain the quality, but they still choose to reduce the quality, increase the price like it is their right, and people have no choice but to use them. I used to buy Biryani from a point, they made the best in my city, and they have not increased the prices, but they have decreased the quantity, and they have not compromised on the quality. Which is completely fine and makes sense.

But the ones that compromise are doing it wrong, but they must have a lot of demand. That's why they don't worry much. So to fight against them, we have to stop using their products and start using the ones which still maintains the standard quality checks.

In my country there are two economic 'systems' running in tandem:

I think its quite cynical by manufacturers to cut the volume of their individual products while
at the same time increase prices. Tey are certainly not keeping the price the same and just

Well yes, at some point when the inflation is way bigger already. They still increase their price even though they already reduced the size of their product. It's probably because reducing the size only is not enough to cater the increase in their expenses due to inflation.

But they still reduce the size of their products even if they already increased the price because they don't want to jump with a big increase. They can only increase the price little by little to maintain the affordability of their product  to keep their customers.

In my country, inflation is extremely high, so vendors and shopkeepers can become excessively greedy. I can't blame them, though, because the future is uncertain and they want to keep their businesses afloat.

Of course, it's greed, but don't put the blame on the quality & control unit. What if they complain and the company is not ready to do anything to improve the product's quality? There's nothing they can do. After all, it's the company that hires and pays their salary.

The only way the company can be compelled to improve is if there's healthy competition in the market. By the time they start realizing poor sales and losing customers to their competitors, no one will tell them to improve the product's quality.

Only a place where there is no industries regulations such things can happen, an industry can increase the price of their products but it's unhealthy for them to produce a product that is bad consumption. If the consumer protection is working, I don't think they will be allow to sell because many people would have complain about the product. I understand you though, some countries are bad and corrupted, they don't care about what their citizens consume.

If not for bad government, the shop where you bought that yogurt need be arrested for selling products that are not up to standard. By the way, I want to remind you that you can buy a fake product and think that you bought original. If indeed this kind of company can make you consume this kind of thing, why do you think that people distributors will not send bd products to people to buy. I don't blame people that do prefer to drink ordinary over some of these things.

A lot has changed from my childhood till date due to inflation. In fact, I will say that those junk food we buy way back that was cheap and rich has lost its richness and the price is even high. Last time, I told a kid when he bought a particular kind of biscuit that the biscuit has lost its quality compared to when I was a kid.

I believe both of them are the problem inflation and greed. I don't feel comfortable buying snacks or drinks that I can prepare at home because it's a waste of funds to me.

Everything in the country changes due to inflation. When we were young, we saw that the price of every item was very low, but now it is very high. You are right that the price of every item in the market has increased a lot, which requires a lot of money to buy, but still it does not taste like before. People now try to cheat people in every business field and their greed teaches them to cheat more, due to which all the products are made in a bad way. People and inflation are the two things that are currently having the worst effect on every country. If you do not buy anything due to inflation and want to cook them at home and eat, then still a lot of money is wasted in buying all those things. The price of every product is very high, due to which we have to buy them with a lot of money, then it is not possible to improve our economic position. Due to this inflation, the economic position of the country has also collapsed a lot and the standard of living of the people does not improve much.

Yes, almost everyone does this and I don't think this method is good. I think it is better to reduce the quantity of the product and at the same time keep the price the same. Because whenever the quality of the product gets bad, maybe everyone will start losing faith in the company and at some point it will be seen that a big impact has been created in the market. So at this time it will be better to reduce the quantity of the product and keep the quality of the product the same and be with everyone in the market. Maybe it may affect the market in the beginning, but in the long run this decision can be very profitable. Trying to avoid larger price hike shouldn't be the reason for quality reduction in products, a lot of them already have the knowledge of the weak system of many countries and their are exploiting the end consumers.


Price increase shouldn't affect the quality of the product, infact the quality should have increased to give customers more satisfaction for the money they are paying. Government regulations are the main problem with this situation.

One thing some business owners or producers fail to recognize is the fact that, once customers are into your goods, the good thing you could do is to maintain standard even if there's changes in price due to inflation.
