I was reading a article about Bip-110 Split. I saw that it was explaining that same transaction is being shared in two blocks.

Quote
The breakaway chain inherited bitcoin’s mining difficulty with only a tiny share of hashpower, leaving blocks hours apart while both chains still accept the same transactions.

How come same transaction can validate in two different block.  Also why Bip-110 was not synced with bitcoin core node?
I don't saw any thread regarding this on forum. Can anyone explain this to me a bit easy way.

Article Reference - https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2026/08/09/controversial-bitcoin-fork-bip-110-mines-two-blocks-then-stops
 https://primexbt.com/news/bitcoins-bip-110-soft-fork-splits-the-chain-as-miner-support-stays-below-2-5/

If the UTXOs are the same, then it is the case. But there are some coins, which are now splitted. For example:

non-BIP-110: https://mempool.space/tx/909b486928dc415d9b6613fcc70ccdbfb4d2f88516a040522365b95794774608
BIP-110: https://mempool.guide/tx/61ff0a1070b084d2601245056946480917a5f3efcb30fde082e7dafbd2b17158

And in this case, coins are coming from different transaction IDs, so they can move independently.

Quote
Also why Bip-110 was not synced with bitcoin core node?
Because they are now running different consensus rules. And they will probably remain splitted forever, because BIP-110 chain is lagging behind.

Not sure if this is ELI-12 enough:

The chain split, e.g. "Bitcoin blockchain" and "Knots Blockchain", so those are now two separate blockchains after the split.
Given that their mempool can contain some "replayed transactions" that are valid in both chains,
some can be included in a block in Bitcoin blockchain and also in Knots Blockchain if it's valid in both chains since it only appeared in each chains once.
The issue is if it's included in two separate blocks in one Blockchain, which wont happen.

Also why Bip-110 was not synced with bitcoin core node?
I don't saw any thread regarding this on forum.
There are lots of drama discussion threads in Bitcoin Discussion board regarding BIP-110 which is basically Bitcoin Core vs Knots.
TL,DR: It's simple, majority of the Bitcoin Core developers don't support BIP110 so it's only implemented in Bitcoin Knots.

With most of the 110 people reverting to a knots node that runs on Bitcoin again - I would say the 110 chain is dead. I have seen Luke posting something about a possible POW change on 9/1/2026 - we shall see I guess.

This isn't related to the article that OP has mentioned.

BIP30 is for duplicate transactions in the same blockchain mostly for coinbase (mining reward, not the brand "Coinbase") thus, transactions that spent those can be duplicate as well.
That was an issue in the past before that mentioned BIP.

On the other hand, OP was reading about BIP-110 article which has an part that's talking about a fork in the blockchain.

It would be worth putting numbers on this instead of arguing about it. At the moment, mempool.space is at 961,994 and the BIP-110 explorer quoted in the previous post, mempool.guide, is at 961,633. The Kilombino endpoint that the split monitors were using now matches this figure exactly.

So, while the main chain did roughly 360, the BIP-110 side has moved about a block. One caveat before anyone considers it settled: a stalled node and a stalled chain appear identical from the outside, so verify both yourself rather than trusting a screenshot.  Smiley

Doesn't it feel great that we can leave this utter waste of time and energy to the past? And not only BIP110, but also LukeDashJr. From what I read on X, he's reached the delusion level that he's now planning to change the algorithm of Bipcoin, so that blocks don't take a whole day to be mined. I think we lost him for good.

The biggest damage this malicious BIP dealt was to any arguments against the exploit that was introduced by SegWit specifically version 1 that allowed easy and cheap injection of arbitrary data into the chain. Now every time anybody wants to talk about that, everyone will be reminded of this malicious shitfork instead of talking about a real existing exploit.

He is taking a page out of the bcash book by trying to make a shitchain survive artificially. I wonder if they also allow mining of thousands of blocks per day to surge past bitcoin's tip height and get miners some incentive to go there for the reward. Cheesy

When you have a hard-fork, with a new mining algorithm, then you can pick any starting difficulty. And if it will be too low, then of course, a lot of blocks will be mined instantly. We saw that for example in testnet4, where the first 20k or 30k blocks appeared quite quickly, before the difficulty adjusted.

And on Bitcoin instead, for almost the whole 2009, the difficulty was too high, because there was no adjustment.

We had our first automatic adjustment of the proof-of-work difficulty on 30 Dec 2009.
If they really believe in soft-forks, then they will let it adjust automatically, according to the schedule, no matter how long it would take. But if they would take a hard-fork route, then they can basically do anything, for example assign all coins to Luke, because why not.

BIP-110 is the best soft-fork in the Bitcoin history.
Picking a hard-fork would just send a signal to all existing nodes, that they are irrelevant, because they now have to abandon the old BIP-110 rules, which were supposed to be perfect. Because not adjusting the difficulty is a BIP-110 rule, no matter if they like it or not. Breaking it would break the promise of it being a soft-fork, and will also destroy all mathematical chances of reaching a stronger chain in the future, because then, no amount of Proof of Work will reorg the non-BIP-110 chain.

We saw that for example in testnet4, where the first 20k or 30k blocks appeared quite quickly, before the difficulty adjusted.

Given that its a hardfork there is much they could do to prevent an insta-mine.  E.g. make the initial re-targeting much faster,  set the reward to 0 initially then phase it in once the hashrate is stable according to some automated criteria, missed rewards could be paid out later.

It could even initially restrict the blocksize to just a coinbase transaction and require it to pay nothing to an op_return-- let the initial fans mine nothing but headers to calibrate the difficulty.  This might actually be a very good calibration, given the reasonable assumption that the coin will be worth nothing we should expect altruistic nothing miners will well approximate the long term hashrate.  Grin

Failing that kind of live calibration they could instead take the recent hashrate on their fork (about 7 EH per ocean stats), convert that to power usage (about 100 MW conservatively), then convert that to hashrate with the asics available for their new work function (works out to maybe 500 PH).   It might still be way off, but it could be a starting point for a system that could recover on its own.   If they're not able to get 100MW on their "real bitcoin" they can't really sustain those claims.

But they've given themselves zero development time-- they don't even have enough time for a testing and ordinary release cycle, and they still much at least develop their POW and reorg protection plus the ecosystem support to make the thing possible to mine.  And so the development needed to prevent a windfall instamine will almost certainly not happen.  "Oh sorry, we accidentally printed ourselves a bunch of money, no one could have expected that!"

Such a travesty, because they could do something cool with their hardfork as there are plenty of good changes that aren't worth doing in a system with active users that would be disrupted or are just subjective enough that one can't justify foisting them onto people who haven't opted in... but instead they're going to push out some hastily created slop and rip their faithful off and probably blame bitcoin for their incompetence, greed, and delusional conduct.

Quote

I doubt they consider that much of a loss, as even delusional people can see that that chance is only mathematical rather than practical.

Even while mocking them you are still thinking with the mind of a Bitcoin developer and not seeing things through the eyes of a shitcoin creator. Cheesy

The first thing they'll have to do is not fixing their shitcoin protocol, it is to get it listed on some exchange so that it can get a price tag. That's because at the end of the day mining is a business. The miners have made that investment (capital investment in hardware, location, paying the electric bill, maintenance, etc.) to make money. They can't do that if they can't sell the shitcoin they receive per block.
Although I have to say it is already too late, they should have done it like Bcash, listing it on exchanges before the fork not after it.

They screwed the prospect of exchange listing by forking at the 110 activation height, a height where they insisted no fork would happen.

The result is that exchange balances have already diverged between Bitcoin and Bipcoin-jr --- which means that an exchange that adopts Bipcoin-jr likely can't 100% credit their bitcoin holders with bipcoin-jr.   This will predictably result in the exchanges being mired angry customers that feel ripped off and potentially litigation (which may then trickle down to the bipcoin spokes people who insisted that there wouldn't be a fork)-- better to ignored bipcoin-jr completely, as they can't be compelled to adopt it (and with solid case law behind that in the US at least in Archer v Coinbase).

Spend some time on their subreddit bitcoinismoney or reading their twitter feeds.
It's worth it for the laughs. It's a true cult at this point.

But as said by others at this point no legit exchange is going to touch it. Some of the fringe ones might because they really don't care about getting hit with lawsuits.
I figure the supporters are going to get hit with tons of donation requests by the miners to "keep things going" while they work on it.
Or the other claims about people attacking them and they need money.
Whatever.

Since they are forking to another algo to mine and making other changes can we please move all of the 110 discussions to the altcoin sections now?
This way they can just fade away into obscurity like all the other forks.

I mean, we can still keep posting about it and laughing at them but at least it will not be showing on the main boards.

Who remembers how the Bitcoin Cash discussion evolved here? Did it initially take place in the main sections, and then all BCH-related threads were moved to Alternative Cryptocurrencies? Or were new threads created there, while the old ones in the Bitcoin sections just gradually died down?

Isn't the tactic to prevent exchange listing of a separate asset? BCH's credibility was measured by its price ratio

Since they are forking to another algo to mine and making other changes can we please move all of the 110 discussions to the altcoin sections now?
Who remembers how the Bitcoin Cash discussion evolved here? Did it initially take place in the main sections, and then all BCH-related threads were moved to Alternative Cryptocurrencies? Or were new threads created there, while the old ones in the Bitcoin sections just gradually died down?

It was probably the loudest and most controversial hard fork, which was louder than Classic, Diamond and other nonsense. Plus, even those who didn't believe in him just had the intention to sell BCH right away, which they did. I think that the wider community has, to some extent, succumbed to the idea that Bitcoin has a worthy competitor, of course, I'm not talking about really experienced and technically strong crypto enthusiasts, for whom this whole story was initially easy to predict.
