Why people smoke, drink alcohol or other drugs?

I went out with my friends today. Then I asked one of my friends, why do you smoke and drink alcohol? I really want to know what happens when you do these things? I also asked him, just like we eat food when we are hungry, it satisfies our hunger. When we are thirsty, we drink water, it quenches our thirst. Similarly, why do people who smoke, drink alcohol or consume other drugs basically take them?

My friend answered me that they do drugs only to fulfill their desires. When I asked him to answer separately, he said that smoking only satisfies his mind. And when I asked about drinking alcohol, he said that there are different brands, flavors and events of alcohol. Alcohol is consumed for different events. Alcohol is something to enjoy based on the event. Especially when you go to a casino and have fun with friends, you can enjoy the time more. But if you drink too much alcohol, gambling becomes difficult. So, it is possible to enjoy real pleasure only if both alcohol and gambling are kept in the right amount.

Now my question is, do people really consume these things just for entertainment? I would like to know your opinions.

Especially when you go to a casino and have fun with friends, you can enjoy the time more. But if you drink too much alcohol, gambling becomes difficult. So, it is possible to enjoy real pleasure only if both alcohol and gambling are kept in the right amount.

It has always been advised that your drinking or consumption of any stimulating substance be kept in moderation when you're gambling so that you can still be in control of the decisions you make because over consumption of alcohol while gambling can lead you to over stimulation making you make wrong decisions that can drain your pockets. For instance you can choose to under the influence of alcohol to increase your bets or even go above your gambling budget because of the thrill.
There are people who consume alcohol even in high amounts and quantity but they are still very conscious of their decision making, if you are not one of those persons it is advisable that you totally avoid consumption of alcohol while gambling or keep it in moderation.

Should we also consider the financial demand that is required in buying all these drugs and drinks? Or should we look at the health implications it has on many of them, that they don't know or even pay attention to what the consequences may be on them over time.

All of these drugs are done for enjoyment (dopamine) and slowly and gradually we become slaves to it. These things are mostly fantasized by big companies and organisations just to increase their sales and use us as products. They are not advantageous to us even a little but rather are just for short term enjoyment which leads to long term sadness and losses. These are things that are not to be played with and under their influence we shouldnt do sensitive and risky things like gambling and investing etc

Back to your question, some people love getting high in order to enjoy their moment and if such people are gamblers, they will definitely smoke or drink when gambling to have that extra sensation of the combination. Just like your friend said, you do it moderately and not excessively if not, you wouldn't know when you will empty your bankroll because you're drunk.

It's simple: people who smoke and drink at the same time are addicted to two things at once, and both of them have health implications that outweigh the temporary satisfaction that the smoker can get.

This things are almost inseparable, taking alcohol or other drugs or smoking has been a blend with gambling for years in my society I don't know of others. Growing up as a little boy, it was almost as if gambling is only done by smoker, alcohol drinkers and or other drugs takers. Howbeit, it is a good idea, a safety measure to avoid or smoke, drink alcohol responsibly when going or thinking about gambling for proper financial management.

Initially, that's the motivation, unfortunately. Then it becomes an addiction, and it's difficult to control the urge to smoke, drink, or use drugs. I quit smoking eight years ago and drinking ten years ago. I enjoyed both and even felt relaxed, but it's a false sense of pleasure and satisfaction, and in reality, I was just ruining my life faster. I started in adolescence, with friends, at parties. I felt like I belonged to a kind of “tribe”; I felt like the macho man; I thought it was great to be rebellious, and the girls admired me. Pure foolishness on my part; deep down, my life was empty…

Gambling companies and alcohol production companies are aware of this bait to get people to keep consuming their products, most times people tend to gamble more recklessly when they are intoxicated and even losing without minding how much they are actually losing, most times the reason why bars are always established in casino is to get people high and gambling uncontrollably, vas majority of them end up becoming addicted to gambling and all the other substances that come along with that.

Well it's most likely stress or habits if i say so. I am much more a drinker than a smoker but when i work in the military, every time before i go to bed, i smoke a one cigarette. Now i can't sleep beacuse of that. It is much more a habit for me beacuse i did that in when i was served. I think a lot of people smoking beacuse they just get there self to point where they can't relax without them. Yes it is a addiction and it is hard to drop when you are in a continiues situation. If you start one time you are gonna fell the stress just comes from your throat and if you want to relax, you need to smoke or drink. Well most people can't drink when working, or if they are not smokers they came home and just get one or two beers to make themself little bit dizzy.
