Honestly I don’t think this is a Genz thing. Anyone can make this mistake if they don’t get the risks. What that guy did wasn’t confidence. It was just careless. Learning about security and privacy is so important for people who invest in Bitcoin. Since so many people have lost their assets because they didn't understand these aspects. They were so careless and didn't prioritize these matters. And in the end, they had to experience what it's like to lose all their assets due to their own carelessness, thinking that nothing will happen until they did.

It is a viral behaviour among the GenZ's  with flashing their net worth in public, it is an attitude I can not understand, or may be they feel it is the way to get respected when people knows you have lots of money.

They do it for different reasons. They do it to feel good, earn respect, and of course, to impress girls. Sometimes, when they go to the bar or club, they will be displaying their stack of cash, bank, or even crypto balance on purpose as a way of wooing girls. They do not consider or take seriously the potential harm such an act could cause them.

As much as I try to disassociate such careless behaviour from a particular young generation we call Gen Z, I keep recalling every other personal experiences I've had with them which exposes how much they want to get noticed, impress the wrong persons and act like they are old enough to handle things while they keep making mistakes that shows that they still have alot to learn about life, safety, security,  privacy and then bitcoin.

Not only GenZs are guilty of this, anyone can be ignorant, but the Gen Zs seem to be at the center of this level of carelessness. Check their social media handles and you will see how much they want everyone to know that they are BTC lords. It is indeed funny 

Kudos to those young people that know what they are doing. To the ignorant ones, let's wait for experience to teach them good lessons.

You’re very correct, protecting your bitcoin assets should be crucial to you as knowing how to invest. If a person invest responsibly but careless with the security of their assets they may lose everything one day.

One thing about practicing thorough security is that you will have to assume everyone is against you and wants to steal your money. This goes beyond just financial security/self custody... It's also a case of someone actually putting his own personal safety at risk just for a silly mistake. I would have easily said that the person in question is actually doing it out of insensitivity, but again, people can consciously endanger themselves just to prove a point... That's the world we live in today.

In as much as self custody shouldn't be that difficult, we're still going to find a good number of users who will eventually become victims of their own negligence just because they fail to recognise the importance of confidentiality. I will consider the former first before anything else. First, someone who has an expensive car and is into crypto should know the risk of displaying a wallet phrase in public; it doesn't matter who is nearby based on how popular crypto is now; the chances of the next person having a clue of what it is are very high, so I will say it’s an intentional act by the dude to lure someone into trying to steal what’s inside that wallet. It will probably not be Bitcoin but some altcoins, which will require you to deposit a native token to cover up gas fees, just like the popular social media scam where scammers post their phrase online to lure greedy victims.

A call for a wrench attack that was and the young guy may later be wondering who or what may have tipped anyone that he is with some bitcoins in his possession. Yes I was born in the 80s, millennial to be precise, and I care too less about how I look, but it's a thing that people always look at me like someone who knows nothing, techy? Far from it.
