Don't sweat it, GenZ like this boy knowingly did it to show off, I can't say the same about other Africa countries but in my country it is nothing new, the fact that the boy has a expensive ride even raise eye browns but I don't want to go into details about that. snip
Gen Z these days really love to show off what they do.. because I also once heard a teenager showing off his trading account balance to their friends, and kept bragging that he made so much money from trading.. this kid is only putting themselves in danger, because there could be a criminal around who hears it and later targets him, knowing he has a significant amount of money. These kids need to learn the proverb "the fish dies by its own mouth".. so they understand that when they love flexing too much, they could end up in trouble because of it. Real business people don't talk too much mostly exposing there investment to friends or random people exposing them self to risk of being attack by unsuspected person with evil intensions to be executed based on the information they have gathered. Many of the rich men and women we have today hardly share there private life's and information with the general public which gives them more immunity against scammer and hacker's.

Whatever my mind thought at the time, probably a scammer? hacker? He intentionally flex off the wallet thing, or maybe I read wrong, but that's not the case, he has no clue how to safeguard his Bitcoin wallet, boy going to end up with empty balance if this keeps going on.
At first I don't feel like bringing this experience on here but the whole thing still disturbs my mind, like are there beginners out there who behaves in such manner? In 2026? Since we have many beginners on here then maybe I did this right thing.
I have had similar encounter in a public transportation last month when a guy was accessing his crypto wallet without being skeptical that the environment might not be conducive to flag his wallet like that. I thought of tapping and whispering him about the risk of what he was doing in exposing his privacy but I had to think twice that if anything should happen to the guy in the journey I might be hold responsible which I see my intention as truly intruder. So I have to swallow my thoughts to safeguard my head. Good thinking for not letting him know, cause it will be more like an awakening of what he doesn't know or take into consideration, and may have an eye sight on you. I had exactly same experience, but not on a crypto situation. This was someone who we used same public vehicle, and he was seating at the front passengers seat, he opened his mobile app so relaxed and there were lots of people inside the vehicle, he checked his balance, and made a transaction inputting his pin and all security matters around his account. Good thing I know is that he is going far from where I'll alight, and other passengers dropped before I did. It was now I, the driver and the person with this security ignorance. I had to tap him and told him, with all respect, never try this ever again, otherwise, you may put yourself in danger, that was when he realized his mistake, and immediately locked his device. If this situation was a crypto related matter, I may not even border him, because what he was possibly doing was to show-off his account balance.

Stupidity has nothing to do with generations, you can find people of different generations with stupidity. The person you are talking about may be someone who does not know about it, or most likely, the scammer is trying to attract those new to Bitcoin. If a new bitcoiner sees a user like him, they will definitely approach him just for a talk about crypto, and maybe for some users he was waiting for, but now who knows if he was a scammer or a user with overconfidence.

The main reason people are supposed to keep such personal information like this private, but it turns out that nowadays people are so carefree that they are not security cautious, honestly I understand that most persons believe that it is a generational biased when others said such attitude is more common amongst this present generation and some how I do not doubt that because I have also seen cases where some people carelessly exposes things in public without being bothered on how it might affect them later, imagine someone revealing something as important as his seed phrases. Who knows what he is up to.

Lol, what if that lady actually saw him importing his seeds and captured the seed and stole the money ? Since he had an expensive car, he probably would have lots of bitcoins in his wallet. Stupid mistakes one would want to avoid. What would you do if you were in this situation ?
Maybe the lady might saw him but won’t know what exactly he is doing or know that he is importing his seed phrase in public, i don’t blame some Gen Z because most of them are from rich families or they have many bitcoins in their wallet and want to show that they have something valuable or no one can challenge them, this is the reason why some of them got kidnapped or something happened to them, if the lady is a bad person after noticed that he have lot of bitcoin and track him down to robbed him and kidnapped him to collect the bitcoin from him it will be a something bad and we will all called the lady some names, but we don’t know that the boy is the one expose himself in public to know that he rich and have expensive car.

Maybe this has something to do with the GenZ around you? Because almost all the Genz in my family are into crypto, even the girls amongst them, they can atleast move Bitcoin from one wallet to another.
They are all smart when it comes to learning anything tech, and that's the courses they all choose in school, I was still lecturing one yesterday asking why all of them choose to go tech route.
He was even lecturing me about robotics innovation in the other state closer to mine, so yes there are many Genzs that actually knows what they are doing, and there are loads of other Genz that don't care.
The Genz are built differently, the Genz in your family are into crypto because you or one of person in your family is into crypto, it is easy for you to transition them to learn about crypto and are able to avoid common mistakes. Their character development on the internet will be different from that of a person that knows nothing about crypto, such people are likely to get scammed if they are not well inform. There are some kids that learn alot from the internet. Some got the inspiration from the cartons and anime they watch and the grow up with this things that when you introduce crypto to them, they see it as motivation. Others that don't have this beginning can't relate at all. The opportunity we have depends on how we use them. You can't compare children who from child hood have been exposed to internet devices and have people to teach them certain things on line with those that hardly get access to the internet not to talk of devices be ause of financial contrains and lack of educated people around them, to groom them from that early age as they tend to learn faster at the age than when they are all grown up. This is not only about the Genzy but parental upbringing matters a lot to this kids, the kind of school the children attends have a big roll to play in there life's.

Bringing it here OP was a good idea, because some of us actually may want to judge people by their looks and not see them as a potential threat, so we may want to behave in like manner as that guy in OP's story. Now it will come to our realisation that someone may have a knowledge and not look it, so we shouldn't be too lousy while in public places, thinking we are the only ones privilege to having certain knowledge, we never can tell, they janitor around may even know as much as we do, but is yet to get same level of exposure we have, and then we expose ourselves to some real security threats that can cost us a whole lot.
What that guy did is how some persons get themselves exposed to possible robbery, when you open your portfolio in public like that, you may not know who's next to you and then before you realise it, you are up for a security bridge which you unintentionally exposed yourself to by some lousy moves.

Is it just me or there are other people too? So far only two friends and a family confirmed this so far, there is something about this weather that's making people feel sick.
It started on the last Saturday, I started feeling weird then a nasty headache took over, I hardly get headaches so I took some painkillers and on Sunday it got out of hand, I had to visit the hospital on Monday morning.
Yes I was born in the 80s, millennial to be precise, and I care too less about how I look, but it's a thing that people always look at me like someone who knows nothing, techy? Far from it.
I believe this was why a Genz boy confidently sat beside me and started importing bitcoin seed phrase right there. My mind went straight to that same things I've saw in the past, he must have thought that I have no clue what a bitcoin wallet looks like.
He made these mistakes right there on the hospital sit.
• I don't look like someone who knows crypto.. genz mindset way of thinking • Importing seeds with the internet connected. • Importing seeds in the public hospital, with camera behind him.
I checked around me and I noticed a lady across the room staring at the boys phone, like she knew and thinking the same thing that I was thinking, later the boy entered the doctors office and left, it was on his way that I knew he had a very expensive car.
Whatever my mind thought at the time, probably a scammer? hacker? He intentionally flex off the wallet thing, or maybe I read wrong, but that's not the case, he has no clue how to safeguard his Bitcoin wallet, boy going to end up with empty balance if this keeps going on.

That's why it is actually not good to take people for granted, because sometime you might come across someone that might seem or look weird but they are good, wiser and smarter than you think you are. It is not about age, because it doesn't mean. Or maybe the boy was on a mission, just like you said. If not why would you risk what you've work so hard for. You have to compose yourself very well when you are in the public, because some people around you might have innocent face but they are very dangerous and you can't differentiate them from others because you will never see scammers, hackers or other terrible names written on their forehead. That's why you must be extremely careful.

According to op story the person importing that seed phrases may not be aware that what he did was really careless .
Somethings are not suppose to be done in public, why can’t the person be patient and get home before doing that, or maybe he thinks nobody cares about what he is doing on his phone, maybe he believes nobody will be able to see what he is doing on think the phone screen brightness is high, and people around him are able to see what is being displayed on his screen. Maybe he just feels nobody will notice him, but next time he will have been so careful when dealing with sensitive things like this, and they are not suppose to be done in public space. You might just think someone isn’t observing you, but you going to be wrong. Don't sweat it, GenZ like this boy knowingly did it to show off, I can't say the same about other Africa countries but in my country it is nothing new, the fact that the boy has a expensive ride even raise eye browns but I don't want to go into details about that. With the story OP gave, I don’t think the guy might actually be doing it to show off, I’ll just say it ignorance, maybe he doesn’t even know that someone beside him was looking at this phone. Someone that know the importance of security will not purposely expose his wallet seed phrase in public just for show off without thinking of the risk involved, when he knows seed phrase is one easy way to access one’s account and off course if he has a lot of money, he will try safeguarding his wallet very well so nothing will happen to his money. I’m very much convinced that whosoever saw his seed phrase, saw it out of coincidence and might not be intentional from the guy.

I feel that most times having luxury pushes us into risky adventures without been bothered about the consequences or how it might put us danger. Like what OP shared the fellow might just want to flex his experience around or maybe wants to show off. I see it this way because nothing stops this guy from going to his car to safely carry out that phrase import but decided to do it publicly not minding the risk involved. I don't see this as peculiar to one generation alone (GenZs) but it think it's a common thing amongst most people who accidentally or consciously badged into wealth after spending so many years trying to figure out their lives.

If someone has not seen his seed phrase and if there is a camera in that place, then his seed phrases are on video. I think this kind of thing is a completely stupid idea. Whatever kind of confidential work I do, I do it in a safe place. Because I always suspect that if someone sees my password or sees the seed phrase of my wallet, they can steal all my assets and all my bitcoins. Even when I enter my wallet, I always try to be in a safe place. Because if someone sees it, it can be a risk for me, I always try to be safe.

This is the Genz era, and I never expect something like this to happen. But it is what it is. People are becoming more careless these days, why would someone be importing a seed phrase in public? If you are someone with bad intention, he could have lost whatever he’s holding in that wallet. This sort of behavior should have been happening in years ago not now. People can use any method to scammed you, technology has changed everything. Someone can use the hospital cameras or even the lady behind him can do him dirty. It’s very interesting to bring this up here for a newbie like us to learn from. But not just the newbies, but a life lesson for everyone.

Some people knows the rules and regulations of crypto wallets but they choose to become careless around it, I don't know how to judge this matter because it's possible that this person is careless and it's also possible that they are just showing off.
He can also have some bigger funds elsewhere, maybe that wallet you thought he was flashing in the public is just a hot wallet for small money, it will be easier to not care if that's the case.
Still, this behaviour is life threatening and very stupid. Sooner or later this person might pay a heavy prize for this behaviour.
Showing off could be the perfect explanation to such nonsense, if not so why will someone that knows the rules and regulations of bitcoin investment go about exposing his bitcoin vital information to the public without minding the implementations of his actions. This is not the first time such is seen neither will it be the last because am sure some stupid people will keep doing it even after seeing what happened to others. It could be that this set of people don't have spare money else where but just want to make others believe they are into bitcoin investment and they have enough on their wallets.

Keeping your cool and being humble can sometimes save you from harmful things. Publicising your personal life is not safe at all, especially now the people are looking for who to scam. Being mute have several advantages but some people doesn't understand. You must not inform everybody that you are a bitcoin enthusiast, some people will not mind where they are, they will just sit comfortably and vomit everything. For your own good, and also for the safety of your funds you have to learn how to control your mouth, because you can't identify those who you are surrounded with. So you have to mind whoever you share such kind of sensitive informations with.

I also agree that personal mistakes have nothing to do with a generation, but I disagree with your statement about "stupid people, or idiots". Fundamentally, there are no idiots or stupid people in this world, especially for peoples who invollved in crypto; there are only people who don't understand something fundamentally, or who are inexperienced (this is also the reason for the importance of sharing insights for beginners). Cases like the one @OP mentioned; are examples that reveal, that the person is unaware of things that could harm their crypto wallet (it can also spread to other errors besides that alone). The solution to this problem; is to learn more from the experiences of others, and this is a wise approach. Don't let yourself learn from your own mistakes, because they will be painful lessons for you. Ultimately, it all depends on one's wisdom. Your behavior determines how you will be treated.

Between not understanding or actually being unaware of what they are doing, it can cause them to suffer losses. Actually, if we understand this, as good people we should approach and give a little advice if it is accepted. If not, then it is no longer our obligation. There are many possible reasons, so being wise by thinking positively is quite a good way. If we understand that experts come from beginners who can certainly make the same mistakes, they might be in that position. Insulting will only make us more arrogant and disrespectful to others. Because indeed, everyone’s knowledge is different and may be limited.

Anyway, and although insult should never be the way, and patience with newbies should be considered a virtue, it is also true that after all these last years in which the news almost always talked about cryptocurrencies linked them to thefts, scams, hacks, pyramid schemes, etc. there don't seem to be many excuses for newbies to behave recklessly either. That is why a certain level of reproach can also be valid, because ignoring warnings is a conscious and avoidable recklessness. But the reproach is often unnecessary, because typically there is already a loss and therefore a kind of penance for them.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think this is an important reminder for beginners like me. A seed phrase should always be treated as private information, and entering it on a device connected to the internet or in a public place can create serious security risks. I also believe we should not judge someone's knowledge based on their age or appearance. Everyone starts as a beginner, and learning how to protect our wallets is just as important as learning how to use Bitcoin. Hopefully, more newcomers will learn these basic security practices before risking their funds.
