I did some research about this lately and I have noticed that almost all the billionaires in Nigeria are now into real estate and most of them build and buy those houses in the name of their children. For example, let's look at the case of ochacho and peller, the 400m house he gifted peller belongs to his son. Will the building appreciate with time? Yes, but it all depends on the location and the economy of the country, and sometimes the government. Bitcoin doesn't depend on the economy of a country, government or the banks to function. Bitcoin are heavily influenced by global macroeconomic conditions.

We have seen cases of government destroying their homes, without even compensating them, I mean this is Nigeria and anything can happen. We also have land fraud when a land is being sold to two people and this will lead to a long dispute, and you will have to spend money in court and all of that. But in Bitcoin, no government is coming to freeze your account or just block your Bitcoin wallet, you own the master key of your wallet and no one is authorized to use it without your consent, you will sleep even better knowing fully well that your Bitcoin is safe in your device instead of some government land that is about to be demolished.

We also look at the difficulties people go through just to sell the house or transferring the land/housing requires a lot of documentation and legal procedures, taxes, time and energy. Why go through such stress?

Your Bitcoin is in your device, if something happens to that device, you can simply get a new device and login your Bitcoin account and wallet into your new device. But you can do this with your house. If something happens to the land, you can't move out your building, if something also happens to the building, you can't move out your land. You are stuck.

Let's also talk about the maintenance of the house, as time goes by, you will be paying your tax, you will have to fix, change, decorate and upgrade some old designs around the house. But in Bitcoin, you don't need need to spend money to keep it in check. You don't need no renovations. Just buy and save, without stress.

I personally wouldn’t advice that, investing in bitcoin is actually a very good investment but from a billionaire perspective it is better to buy landed property like plazas and real estates for their children than to invest in bitcoin for them because of the much volatility associated with Bitcoin at this stage. They can actually add bitcoin to their portfolio and allocate some money they use for buying stocks to buying bitcoin as an investment.

Billionaires or millionaires don’t just buy anyhow real estate properties, they make sure they confirm locations, check for possible problem, confirm from their lawyers and get the C of O before they invest much money into it, and even though there’s still a possibility that it might fail or the government might take over the property.. that possibility is very very low.

And talking about land or property transfers, it is actually much easier in scenarios like this than bitcoin inheritance since you wouldn’t give the young child the keys at that age and many unexpected things can happen, but with a clear will then the lawyers will handle the transfers smoothly after the demise of the father.

I don’t think it’s actually comparable though, because most of the properties these rich people are acquiring for their children are either good lands in strategic locations which doesn’t require the maintenance or plazas which they will rent out and even if they want to sell it in the future, the price will appreciate very well. Nigerian billionaires or millionaire don’t actually like investing in very volatile investments especially if they are planning to leave it for their children, they prefer stuffs that grow slowly and steadily.

Also Self Custody can be stressful sometimes, since you are now your own bank and most of these people hate that stress, they employ accountants and lawyers to handle much of their finances. They can buy bitcoin though but not as a substitute to buy real estate because it’s not as easy as you make it sound.

Every investment has its own risks and some investments are irreplaceable by any other investment. Housing is a global need and everyone needs a house. Saying that because you want to invest in bitcoin that makes the real estate or owning a house a wrong choice is very untrue. We can balance up our investments at all time. Do you know that if everyone stops investing in real estate, the cost of accommodation which is already high could get to a real choking level.

What matters is ensuring that you acquire every property through the right source and obtain the necessary documents. Those areas that are prone to government destructions implies that you have to check the city maps and land registers before acquiring a property there. You must go through the right channels and when this is done, you can be assured that should anything happen to your property, you will be compensated. The problem is that most people go for cheaper ways of acquiring all these properties and one day, disputes will arise or government will want to make use of the site.

Security wise, bitcoin is not free of risk. We have a current theft that occurred with users of coldcard where large amount of bitcoin has been stolen from over 500 bitcoin owners https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5589927.msg66995578#msg66995578 do you think they were the most careless of bitcoin investors? No, scammers are innovative and sometimes more innovative than anyone can imagine so they develop various ways of breaking into wallets once they discover any lapses. If a person had invested with the money he was supposed to use and get a house for his children because he believes that owning bitcoin was better than having a house, he would perhaps die without having a house or start from the beginning.

Real estate acquired through the right channels is sustainable and appreciates too. When we invest in bitcoin, we should also invest in real estate and ensure you have a house in a good and safe location just like we should also invest in bitcoin securely.

I think each of them have their own place. Because you want to buy Bitcoin doesn't means you shouldn't build houses . Houses and lands are one of the top assets that are guaranteed to appreciate. This is because as time moves on they become rare and development occurs. Bitcoin is a good choice but I don't think there really should be comparison between both. The pellet house you mentioned, depending on the location and how well the house was built, the land alone may be sold for 200million in the future . So yeah they are but good in their way

Every individual or investor has his/her own mode of investment they believe and have trust in, investing in Bitcoin with no doubt is a very good and reliable Investment but not many people or investors believe in Bitcoin or any other online investment.

Most of our rich men and investors in Nigeria believes more in physical investment they can see always than mobile or online investment.

Most of the rich, business men and investors in Nigeria don't believe in any investment that has to do with online, most believe all online marketing or investment are all scam.

Some also believe they can be easily scammed or stolen from easily, when they make any such investment.

Investors and rich men that will think of buying or investing in Bitcoin instead of buying houses and investing in real estate, are People or investors that have knowledge on Bitcoin and knows how it works.

So the decision to invest in Bitcoin rather than buying or investing in real estate depends Solely in the investors, and the trust, believe and knowledge they have on Bitcoin.

I support Bitcoin 100% but it's not the only investment option, real estate is another investment option that's very good even before the existence of Bitcoin and can generate good ROI for long-term if managed properly, it's not good to lay all eggs in one basket so both can work together, for instance if anyone has held long enough for withdrawal stage the person can diversify into real estate and get more income to keep sustaining their Bitcoin investment. Bitcoin is a very good and trustworthy investment option but real estate isn't bad too.

You may only see a land purchase, but you may not notice the business strategies behind it. There is a business thought behind every step of a billionaire. When a billionaire buys a land, he considers everything and consults with a lawyer and sees all the risk management before buying it. For them, buying this house is an investment for the future. They buy these houses in places where the value of the property is likely to increase a lot in the future, such as above 70%.

When it comes to the place where they build houses, many big companies own houses, so a good relationship is created between them, this can be called a profitable investment. The amount of money that seems like a lot to us is not a lot to them.

If an investor has all it takes to invest both I would not channel my advice on Bitcoin only despite having full courage that Bitcoin is best and futuristic in given investor what he may desire diversifying in a society where one most time don't know what will be the outcome if what you believe so much on is better should one failed you the other aspect can guide or wage war for you. Property like housing is still having some value increase in our society and the demand keeps increasing buying houses and investing in Bitcoin is not bad if the buyer share the idea because while waiting for Bitcoin under Long term housing system can sustain the holding during the time frame but asset have it's own way of generating income in every income one must supercede but total negligence of the others may be harmful but Bitcoin may be greater bit given smaller attention through diversifying means could also help it's not even good to totally invest in Bitcoin without others sources of income as such investment may mot reached the target period as all financial Borden may be eyeing the investment.

You do not have enough good reasons people should not buy or build houses for themselves or their children. It is good if you have money and buy bitcoin for your children, but buying or building house for your children is also very good. Both are good investments.

The chance that you buy bitcoin for your children and they will spend it is more than the chance that you will buy or build house for you children and sell it.

If you have the money, you can give your children both.

This is a wonderful advise if properly analyzed but the truth is that shelter belong to the basic needs of man so your children deserve a roof over their head. If I have enough money that I want to preserve for my children, I will definitely keep some in bitcoin but in the spirit of diversification, I will also consider investing in real estate for them as well. I will not support anyone putting all their money in bitcoin judging from what is happening now like the Coldcard vulnerability, no one knows what will happen in the future. Hence, to avoid taking too much risk, I will diversify my investment into real estate and even stocks.

My brother I no agree with this your idea because in Nigeria wey we dy so, e dy very important say you get house. We dy see wetin dy happen for we country and how house rent dy skyrocket daily, so me personally no go prioritize Bitcoin over having a house of my own because Bitcoin investment no be like business wey go dy give you money daily, na so house self be, but I go choose having a house of my own over a Bitcoin investment because I know how things be for we country when it comes to having a good accomodations.

I be big fan of Bitcoin oo, no go think say I be Bitcoin hater, but bro I no go lie, I go choose a house over Bitcoin for so many reasons, especially in naija my country.

Buy Bitcoins for your children instead of building houses for them Buying Bitcoin for your children instead of building houses offers superior liquidity, lower maintenance, and higher growth potential. Real estate requires high upkeep costs, faces property depreciation, and is difficult to sell quickly. Bitcoin eliminates these burdens while securing their long-term wealth for example you can use bitcoin blind your wealth in long time investment

Have you compared the previous (10 year ago) cost of buying or renting a house or plain land with the current cost? In major areas and cities of Nigeria, the increase is around 300% and more in some urban areas. You can imagine how much more it's likely to increase in the next 10 years. The rich people you are talking about have their financial decisions and how are you so sure that they are not investing in Bitcoin? Perhaps, Bitcoin is not a public asset like landed properties where you can know that a certain person owns this building, as a Bitcoin holder, no body gets to know without being told, so why do you think that some rich people in Nigeria are not buying Bitcoin? One can still be planning on how to acquire some landed properties while also buying Bitcoin for theur kids and self.

For an average citizen, It is easier to invest on Bitcoin than it is to invest on a landed proper but while investing on Bitcoin and at some point you had huge profits from your investment, you can always take the profit and invest in land for your kid while still holding some Bitcoins. That's my opinion.

Ochacho gifted peller a house and you are comparing it to Bitcoin...as how na! Have you forgotten that you can lose your seed phrase and that will be the need to your Bitcoin portfolio. Have you asked yourself of what if you got hacked and your Bitcoin is stolen? What is the vakue of your Bitcoin depreciate? So why do you think real estate is a bad choice?

We also look at the difficulties people go through just to sell the house or transferring the land/housing requires a lot of documentation and legal procedures, taxes, time and energy. Why go through such stress?

It is only the poor people with penury mentality that will think that owning a house or investing in real estate is a bad choice.
Invest in real estate and see the difference and stop writing rubbish about real estate because you know nothing about Bitcoin investment you are praising.

Buying Bitcoin for your children can build wealth much faster than traditional real estate. Here is a short example comparing the two options the real estate choices you spend $200,000 to build a house over 15th year the property value may double to $400,000 however you must pay for property taxes costly repairs and ongoing maintenance or the bitcoin choices you invest that same $200,000 into bitcoin for your children because of its strictly limited supply and growing global adoption it long term growth potential historically outpace real estate

Both assets aren't bad maybe op didn't know about that and you shouldn't be harsh when explaining it to him, he made his own research and maybe his research didn't tell him that houses and lands do appreciate too, yea a Bitcoiner can lose his hodlings out of carelessness of forgetting his seeds, exposing it to the public or being hacked but those are the risk in Bitcoin investment but all of these can be avoided if one know the do and don't and keep to them, I support what you said that he shouldn't have make any attempt to compare both assets as but my reason is that Bitcoin is a good and valuable asset, real estate is also profitable because if it is not, most big guys won't invest in it.

As for Bitcoin price deprecation, that's the nature of Bitcoin so I believe the ups and downs of Bitcoin shouldn't be a hindrance to anyone that wants to invest because it bounces back overtime.

Don't you people get tired of giving one piece of advice or the other every time? Now you have come up with this one. Why do you people like to make things look as if it's one or the other? So if a person builds a house, he can't buy Bitcoin, or if a person buys Bitcoin, he can't build a house? We get, you people love Bitcoin, but there's no need to be unrealistic. Having a house is one of the best things you can do for yourself. It's funny how you mention all the things that can go wrong with having a house, what about all that can go wrong with holding Bitcoin? You can't tell people not to build their houses if they want to, simply because they can hold Bitcoin. Did you even think this through?

They are looking for merits, that is the reason they think extra length and posting beyond what is actually real. I believe if he has money, buying land and building house will come to his mind.

Why would someone be comparing two investments when it is not necessary? Land, real estates, building and other things like that are investment and they are lucrative investments. House is a necessity for many people.

I can invest in bitcoin but that can not stop me from building houses.

This is simply a comparison of Bitcoin and Real estate. And generally Bitcoin is better, for a lot of reasons which you have written some of them down already, in addition;
Bitcoin can be sold and bought quickly, (comfort)
Houses takes time, Agent, extra money, stress etc.. to either get bought or sold.

Bitcoin can be done world wide, bought and sold worldwide,
Houses are limited to a particular location

Bitcoin doesn't need anything physically maintenance
Houses needs maintenance which will cause stress, more money, etc ..

And there are more, so it is good to understand that Bitcoin is generally better than that of housing or real estate.

Although everyone has what they are good at, some people might have grace or skill in real estate and that will be very good for them if they stick to it, it's all about perspective and passion, but it's also good to know which of them is generally better

(Real estate still has good amount of emotional demand as well just as bitcoin)
