Printing money is not something done by the US and other Western nations only, it is done by all countries just that some countries will be forced to devalue their currency due to printing above the limits set for them by the people that call the shots. On the other hand, there are countries like the US that no one dare ask them to devalue their currency. But in general, uncontrolled printing of money is the root of inflation that neither the US nor any other country in the world can escape.
He good news is that we have bitcoin as alternative for us, people who hold their funds in bitcoin actually benefit from these reckless printing of money because bitcoin is immune to the inflation that is prevalent in fiat.
The problem is when we treat printing money as the whole problem. A country can increase the money supply without automatically ending up with the same level of inflation of the economy is also expanding and prodding more goods and services. The bigger problem now is when the government keep creating money to cover problems that should have been solved through production, better spending and economic reforms. At that point people are basically given more money while the amount of things that money can buy is not increasing at the same pace.
We need to ask ourselves, What are they creating that money for and what is backing the additional spending? If the answer is mainly to postpone economic problems then the people eventually pay for it through weaker purchasing power.
