That is why most online casinos nowadays should be applying the KYC rule before the player even has a chance to place a bet. Now, the problem is that some online casinos do have a starter pack which lets the gambler play and gamble, but with limits. I believe I experienced that period on Stake.com back then. No KYC, but there are limits. That was way back, and I don't know if they still have that kind of rule for new players.

Anyway, that is why we should really be careful with which gambling site we are going to trust, because there's a chance that they are applying anything during our initial games, and we will only find out some fishy KYC will be enforced when we withdraw. I say, try depositing and withdrawing small amounts everytime we will have a chance so we can test the legitimacy of the online casino.

I’m against KYC for players, but I’m definitely in favor of casinos being licensed. After all, casinos collect a huge amount of people’s personal data, which could potentially be stolen, sold, or misused against the people whose information is stored in those databases. So any collection of personal information will always carry certain risks.Instead, casinos should be required to prove their legitimacy and compliance with certain operating standards through proper licensing and transparent legal information.
Most gamblers are reluctant to complete the KYC process, because it requires disclosing personal information that could potentially pose future risks to them. Reputable, long-standing and valid licensed casinos take great care to securely store every gambler's personal data. It is crucial for a casino to ensure that gamblers do not face any harm as a result of providing their personal information. When choosing a casino, one must exercise caution and thoroughly research how the casino handles and stores personal data, transparency regarding data security is essential.

For any commercial organization, profit is paramount. Regulatory risks and avoiding problems with law enforcement are secondary. 🙋

Preventing customer harm is, at best, a distant third ... Many commercial organizations (online casinos, cryptocurrency exchanges) typically view these as individual (customer) issues, not organizational ones.

In practice, you likely won't be able to analyze and evaluate a casino's customer data storage system. You'll have to take the casino's word for it that they conscientiously protect this information. However, they likely transfer it to third-party verification services. This data is systematically leaked online. We regularly read about cases of data compromises involving cryptocurrency hardware wallet users. Hardware wallets market themselves as impenetrable vaults, absolute protectors of important financial information... But even they regularly leak confidential information.  What then can be said about online casinos, which are first and foremost online gaming platforms and not impregnable citadels?

And just because a casino is licensed doesn’t mean they can indulge in any of those malicious practices you mentioned, I mean to sell people’s information, besides it’s not as if the owner of that information would know who sold or even whether their information was sold or stolen from a particular company. So the best way to go about it is to avoid giving out your information and stand your ground at all costs, even if it means to stop gambling or attempting to win a huge amount that may push the casino into requesting for your KYC.

Well with the direction the digital world is moving towards, a time is coming when you won't be able to do anything or use any service until you somplete your KYC, there are lots of services out there which you could use without having to worry about submitting any documents, but now you won't even get to get the whole dashboard of the platform until you submit it.

The thing is that a lot of people are becoming too relaxed, once a section pops up that is requesting for a sensitive information from them, they don't even think about it twice before they submit it to the platform, in the past you get people refusing to use a site for asking them for their BVN but now you get people trusting site more because they are asking for your BVN. lol.

You’re very correct, KYC is now becoming a normal thing when it comes to digital world but we should not allow it make us to lose our sense of caution. Just because a platform asked for your BVN or any other important information doesn’t mean that the platform is automatically real. We still need to check their data, why they need it, and how they can protect it. Privacy is very essential, even in this Modern word.

I think people are not being taught about how to be conscious of their privacy and what identity theft can lead to, that is why they think that nothing isgoing to happen when they give out their sensitive information to these sites even when there are several red flags from the site.

If they go through documentaries and articles about people whose identity were stolen and used to commit serious crimes and how the whole incident ruined their lives, they would start ot think about which site to give out their information to and won't just hand it out to whichever site is requesting for it.

Apart from micro finance banking I don't think if I can share my BVN to any phishing site, and you're right when you said that the security of a platform or site matters. Of course sharing our KYC details to a platform is not an issue, but the question is how reliable is the platform in terms of securing people's KYC details and other important important data ? This is the question we need to ask ourselves before giving out our KYC details to any platform.Personally, I don't trust any site that is why I usually avoid sharing my KYC details to any platform.

The whole scenarios is pointing at the casino being transparent because gamblers get related withdrawal issues where the casino has its term's hidden for new players.
Even, testing the water with some minimum withdrawal amounts may not be enough to justify this attitudes of casino because, they might tend to pretend by allowing you to process your withdrawal at some certain levels and as time goes you'll be revealed with different level of Kyc requirements before you can continue your withdrawal or by the time you'll want to make bigger amounts of withdrawal will be when you'll be hold down conditionally with a different dimension of Kyc.
Some casino don't reveal all Kyc terms early for new user's while they awaits you to fall into their trap.

For any commercial organization, profit is paramount. Regulatory risks and avoiding problems with law enforcement are secondary. 🙋
I think you are a bit confused about this, those two things are directly related to each other and not separate. If profit was everything and companies could ignore the law, why would they implement AML or KYC? To implement it properly costs a lot of money, and checking each user and investigating suspicious cases takes even more money. It would be best to ignore it all completely, and treat all money that is coming to the platform or leaving the platform as the same. But the reason why they don't do that is because they can't ignore the regulator or the fines, because first they eat into a lot of the profit and second they could even lead to permanent shut down or arrest.

Preventing customer harm is, at best, a distant third ... Many commercial organizations (online casinos, cryptocurrency exchanges) typically view these as individual (customer) issues, not organizational ones.
This is very true sadly, in these days customer's position is very weak. It is being treated just like a number, that is why businesses get away with many kinds of bad things. I hope that there will be a change in the future.

You'll have to take the casino's word for it that they conscientiously protect this information. However, they likely transfer it to third-party verification services.
This is the better choice. A company that is specialized in doing this service will have higher data protection standards than hundreds or thousands of casinos each implementing their own services. Actually this happens very often in each industry, as specialized services outperform others at a lower cost. If a company has its whole existence depend on doing this and not leaking data, it is going to do a better job than businesses that are just complying because they are forced to do it.

Basically still the obligation of the user to take time to read their Terms and Agreement because most of them listed into there about the requirements for the withdrawal, basically I dont want to make a huge amount deposit for the casino I haven't well-known and there is no active support representative in this forum most of the time I check if they are exist here in the community so if ever there is a problem the representative and the other community members are aware about the issue. I am also aint fan of having a KYC just to withdraw your funds, at the first place you know to yourself that its all a win and you wanted to withdraw but apparently the casino prevent this but they flag the account instead it gives a huge frustration to the players too much and then they willingly leak their information just to get their money back.

KYC processes may well evolve over time, as powerful models are now capable of forging virtually any document, after all, it is trivial for AI to compile a database of documents and feed them into a generator where you can simply input a name to produce a convincing forgery. Exchanges might try to counter this by employing their own AI - potentially using similar forgery techniques -but that is unlikely to succeed. Ultimately, I believe that in the future, all exchanges and services - much like casinos - will rely exclusively on live identity verification, though even here AI could pose a challenge, given its advanced ability to manipulate facial features.

We still need to check their data, why they need it, and how they can protect it. Privacy is very essential, even in this Modern word.

BVN scares me more than handling my driver's license or national ID card to any online platforms, BVN is going way too far into who you really are, they got everything in one go, I wouldn't mess with BVN for verification, hell no, that's way too much of requirement for verification, BVN is something that only the bank can ask for, it's not something that you should be giving out online, too dangerous, I can remember Opay asking for my BNV even though they are banking app, I felt reluctant and used other option.

The primary goal of any commercial organization is to make a profit. Incidentally, this is usually reflected in the incorporation documents of every commercial organization upon registration. 🙋

Should online casinos be afraid of government regulators? Of course they should be! The government can create a multitude of problems for businesses...

However, some online casinos exploit KYC and AML requirements (originally established by the government) to generate additional profits. Have you noticed that many online casinos are reluctant to require their customers to complete the KYC procedure before making a deposit? But after a large win, they often impose this requirement on players?

This paradox has a very simple explanation... Commercial organizations make money and generate profits. Online casinos count on players not to put in too much effort to withdraw funds, but instead to gamble again and ultimately lose all their winnings. Such stories happen all the time!

As for the reliability of KYC aggregators, unfortunately, absolute reliability does not exist.  KYC aggregators are a very attractive target for any hacker. The likelihood that data will fall into the hands of a hacker and subsequently become public is very high. This is a very serious data security issue. All it takes is one mistake, and the system will be hacked. 🙆

Come on, you share your data every day. You sign up for social media, online shops, delivery services, and so on. The streets are full of cameras monitoring your every move. And you're still afraid of KYC?
The main issue is that if my data gets stolen (and I know at least some of it has been sold by banks and mobile operators), I'll just get more spam calls. That's it. Just keep an eye on your phone and credit cards. These days, you confirm every risky transaction with your phone and 2FA anyway.

Dismissing a KYC breach as "just spam calls" completely underestimates the risk. When a full verification package (HD passport scan, selfie, proof of address) leaks, it isn't used for telemarketing - it gets sold on darkweb markets for synthetic identity theft, opening fraudulent loan accounts, or bypassing verification on other platforms under your name.

As for the reliability of KYC aggregators, unfortunately, absolute reliability does not exist.  KYC aggregators are a very attractive target for any hacker.

Spot on. Centralized KYC vendors create massive honeypots. You aren't just trusting the casino's internal security; you're trusting every third-party verification API they route your documents through. Once an ID scan leaks, you can't simply reset it like a compromised password.

I was a victim of phishing one time, but it was years ago. Thankfully, I used a dummy account when I registered on that website, and the fool actually used that account here in the forum. But even with that happening to me, I trust that a reputable gambling site would not do the same. But I only filed KYC on one gambling site, and I think that is to minimize the risk of it happening again.

Anyway, about the security of KYC, this is where it becomes fishy. There are claims that they sell information on the black market, but it has not been proven. Although, when many advertisements are incoming in your e-mail, you might as well think that your email address was sold for money.

The claim about data being sold on the black market is hard to know for sure, but if a lot of spam or strange offers suddenly come in an email that was only used for one site, that is already a clear sign the data got leaked or sold to someone.

It is scary how sold users data that were made available by players on casinos request can get to the dark web and can be use to do different havoc on innocent players that had submitted their information on the casino they once thought will keep their data confidential from the public view. Centralized casinos are big threat to our self privacy and players need to do something about that.

I wouldn't call this an honeypots but a loophole that have the possiblity of making users vulnerable to attacks from hackers and scammers that had gotten full access to their private information. KYC casinos should be evaluated on term of how tactically bold they can keep their users information from the general public through unsolicited access.

If every person plays within the rules of the casino then there may not be any problem. But whenever there is any irregularity then there is a problem. If we play within the rules of the casino then even if there is any problem we can easily deal with that problem. If the casino is fraudulent then we may not be able to deal with it but if the casino is good and if there is any problem then we can easily solve it through the right information.

Many casinos do not ask for any kind of KYC to make a deposit and KYC is asked whenever a withdrawal is made. Many people consider such casinos as fraudulent and but if they read the rules of the casino then they will definitely understand and will not raise such misconceptions among themselves.

yes but it doesn't only apply to the players, it also applies to the casino, if it respects the rules
It should also keep your data safe, I repeat that KYC for a game is not worth it

As I recently learned from some friends that games like Roblox have introduced age verification by showing your face, are you kidding me?

You'll never how quick it is when it spreads like a virus. While it certainly helps to reduce the risk.

But it only takes one leak and boom, your identity is probably travelling already in different market places and many hands.

Yeah, we will not know if the leak is on the several illegal marketplaces but assume it that it's already there and hackers won't waste time of not putting it up on sale and included it on a one huge database and package.

We must try as much as possible to protect our data by all means possible because that is the only way and means to keep them free off the market, dark web customer have their link and contact among some companies data center, who sell customer information ls out for various reasons some more severe than just spamming purposes.

Some criminals can use another person data to commit crimes and they blame it on original data owner, this one reason we need to use decentralized casino when we worry about data leaks.

If someone decided to use a regulated platform then KYC will be required sooner or later but it will be there and user need to be ready for that. Many casinos try to advertise as no KYC but it implies that there is no mandatory KYC but they can ask for verification if they suspect the user is doing something shady that just mean we can be asked at any time even if there is change in IP logs.
Actually his suspicious activity excuse of casinos is actually a complete trap. Those of us who surf the net from regular phones, when we switch from WiFi to mobile data, our IP changes naturally, and this is a very common thing. But the interesting thing is, whenever you win a big amount, they will try to block you by pulling the history of your simple IP change, and we are also seeing topics about this in this forum. But when making a deposit, they do not bother with these IP logs at all. However, if you use a VPN, the matter is different. Because many casinos are not VPN friendly. Basically, the No KYC tag is used only to attract users and deposit funds, and their real target is to block funds under the pretext of such a policy during withdrawal.
