yes but it doesn't only apply to the players, it also applies to the casino, if it respects the rules
It should also keep your data safe, I repeat that KYC for a game is not worth it. As I recently learned from some friends that games like Roblox have introduced age verification by showing your face, are you kidding me?

How will they be able to verify that you are old enough to play when we have many cases of people being younger or older than their ages as it does not reflect on their faces. They are just trying to make gambling less enjoyable anymore and all this rules are not making sense. Casinos that want to implement kyc should do it from the beginning of registration to avoid there to be a misunderstanding when it is time for withdraws. There are also other ways of bypassing face verification as someone that looks older can be used and then underage gamblers get free access to gambling without any supervision.

Come on, you share your data every day. You sign up for social media, online shops, delivery services, and so on. The streets are full of cameras monitoring your every move. And you're still afraid of KYC?
The main issue is that if my data gets stolen (and I know at least some of it has been sold by banks and mobile operators), I'll just get more spam calls. That's it. Just keep an eye on your phone and credit cards. These days, you confirm every risky transaction with your phone and 2FA anyway.

I would advice that you take sometime to go through some documentaries of people who have had their details stolen. You would see that spam calls shouldn't even be considered as things to be scared of, those are not even on the list.

There is a possibility of your identity being used for a huge crime meanwhile you would have no idea about it and then you would be in trouble, trying to defend yourself against it while all the evidence point to you. People's sensitive information that is being sold in the darkweb what use are they for? Just for spam calls? The fact that we have never experienced it doesn't mean it doesn't exist or reduce the risk of it, so it is better to be careful and prevent anything that would lead to it than to expose ourselves to it.

In the case of Stake.com, the matter is very simple. They will ask you to do KYC after taking the deposit, which is not the case. In fact if you do not complete your  level-1 KYC, they will not give you the deposit address. And you will not be able to make any deposit Cheesy. All casinos should follow strict rules like Stake.

Actually you can make deposit without KYC but you will not be able to withdraw. This is a kind of scam. I think at least the issue of returning the original deposit should be considered separately from the confiscation of winning, if the casino itself has accepted that deposit first.
I think that this is one way to show that a casino is transparent, it is important to have such strict rules so they just don't seem like they are after deposits by all means. Being able to make a deposit into a casino without KYC and then being being asked for it after winning like you said is a scam, it proves that the casinos are not concerned about underage gambling in the first place. A lot of gamblers would even assume that because they were able to make a deposit without being asked for it then it would be the same when it comes to withdrawals.

You'll never know how quick it is when it spreads like a virus. While it certainly helps to reduce the risk.

But it only takes one leak and boom, your identity is probably travelling already in different market places and many hands.

Yeah, we will not know if the leak is on the several illegal marketplaces but assume it that it's already there and hackers won't waste time of not putting it up on sale and included it on a one huge database and package.
We must try as much as possible to protect our data by all means possible because that is the only way and means to keep them free off the market, dark web customer have their link and contact among some companies data center, who sell customer information ls out for various reasons some more severe than just spamming purposes.

Some criminals can use another person data to commit crimes and they blame it on original data owner, this one reason we need to use decentralized casino when we worry about data leaks.
That's how the bad actors do it.

When the hackers sell it on dark web or any other illicit markets, the main purpose is to use it for their actions and compliance.

They won't have any fear of doing anything illegal with it because that's not their identity. It is the reason why victims who are innocent claims that they have no idea what they did when they are present somewhere which is far from the crime scene.

Casinos that want to implement kyc should do it from the beginning of registration to avoid there to be a misunderstanding when it is time for withdraws. There are also other ways of bypassing face verification as someone that looks older can be used and then underage gamblers get free access to gambling without any supervision.
I have noticed that some casinos use KYC as a weapon to not allow winners to withdraw the won amount. They take advantage of such loophole when needed and freeze won amount of a user in name of KYC. Sometimes when a user wins a huge amount they often blame that user to have multiple accounts and other such accusations so they could take the winning.

In few instances they give the initial deposit and get praised for that but in actual they use such things as weapons to legally take won amount of players. When it comes to KYC then it can be bypassed and some people do bypass it with help of AI these days but again such a thing isn't recommended as it's not ethically correct.

I get what you’re saying. Every casino should always be very transparent with their policies and terms. Because if KYC suddenly becomes a requirement just only after a player wins, then it means the rules were never really clear and transparent and that’s not a good reputation for the casino. The goal shouldn’t just be to get people to make a deposit, but to stay in the casino even after winning. Requesting for KYC isn’t wrong, but it must be clear so that the players know what they’re walking into.

Casino sites have been playing their dirty game with regards to KYC since a long time now.
The concern is that we haven't really been able to tackle this situation from user point of view.
I agree that it eliminates the bad people and scammers from the picture but in some scenarios it also impacts the genuine users.
We can't imagine winning a huge lottery on the site and enjoying the moment just to find out we can't withdraw the money because their system tagged us for suspicious activity.
Then we are asked for KYC and boom, they freeze our funds. How bad would it feel ?

You’re very correct, KYC is now becoming a normal thing when it comes to digital world but we should not allow it make us to lose our sense of caution. Just because a platform asked for your BVN or any other important information doesn’t mean that the platform is automatically real. We still need to check their data, why they need it, and how they can protect it. Privacy is very essential, even in this Modern word.

I think people are not being taught about how to be conscious of their privacy and what identity theft can lead to, that is why they think that nothing isgoing to happen when they give out their sensitive information to these sites even when there are several red flags from the site.

If they go through documentaries and articles about people whose identity were stolen and used to commit serious crimes and how the whole incident ruined their lives, they would start ot think about which site to give out their information to and won't just hand it out to whichever site is requesting for it.
I believe everyone doesn’t see KYC as the way you see it, it might not be an issue to you but providing kYC can be an issue to so many others. When data are shared with a third party, stolen or bought it can actually be used for different purposes which along the line can lead to something bad, that why the most important thing here is to be careful.

Yes, we had a few confirmed cases of this coming from even the reputed casinos and they resolved it after bitcointalk community gave them negative feedback. But we have multiple cases pending in the scam accusation section regarding KYC but most of them are at use fault and they try to blame the casino and make them to pay the winning amount of the initial deposit.

First of all, if a casino does not require KYC for making deposits but asks for it when it is time to make a withdrawal it should be an information clearly stated in their policy and if it is not then it clearly says a lot about the casino. A lot of gamblers would even go as far as tagging the casino as a fraud and we all know that this can affect the image and reputation of the casino. If a player needs to p through KYC process to make a withdrawal they should also be required to go through the same process when making a deposit as well.

I am actually very surprised; I thought everyone knew the risk of sharing their sensitive information with online platforms.

You really can't force can't have the same ideology as you, but at the same time pointing them to things that would help them see things in a different perspetive would do a lot of good here and that was the reason in my reply to that user, I asked them to immerse themselve more in documentary so that they can see what is happening in real life and people that have been affected by this whole identity theft before.

That's how the bad actors do it.

When the hackers sell it on dark web or any other illicit markets, the main purpose is to use it for their actions and compliance.

Exactly, you may actually have a case to prove even though your data have already been used to commit that crime, but then it through leaked data on some KYC data base, one thing that we can say is that most of the buyers already have their pre determined motive behind the data purchase and know exactly how to go about it.

As a player we should have this at the back of our mind that whenever you leave your personal data online for whatever verification reason, it already used by someone other than, even though that is just possibility and not reality in some cases, and this brings us to the question of how we can protect our datas from such abuser if we have to still keep our presence on those online platforms that demand them from us?

I think this is where transparency comes in, these are things that the players must know about before they make their deposit so it is not going to be a surprise to them when they want to make a withdrawal. Gamblers should also do well to make sure that they go through the terms and conditions properly because In most cases this is actually written but the gamblers don't take out time to read through before exploring the casino. Some casinos don't ask for KYC to make a deposit and they don't ask when a player makes a withdrawal but they suddenly request for this when a huge amount of money is won, a lot of times this is just a security measure for the gamblers safety.

There must be a firm statement, at the beginning there must be KYC or not, for example withdrawals above $1000 there must be KYC that must be set.
KYC rules in crypto casinos are now still in a grey area, between mandatory and relaxed, although the ToS always make it less clear, as they will prompt when someone is suspected of abusing bonuses or games.

Maybe some players do believe that when it comes to KYC, it is better to keep their privacy so they can gamble and play freely without the need to worry about their identity being exposed or their personal data being leaked. It's understandable because if we consider that most of us have already shared our personal data through different social media platforms and online shopping apps, we allow those platforms to have an access to our personal information because it is required when creating and to use the account. But in gambling, is is really different because it involves money and has a greater financial risks. I think such concerns about privacy, identity protection, and the use of personal information become much more significant in gambling.

No one can tell you the minimum amount you'll be asked KYC. I think it's possible to request verification starting from as little as $100, especially if there's any suspicious activity on the player's part. However I think verification will only occur after attempting to withdraw large amounts, as small withdrawals won't attract the casino's attention. Almost all casinos have automated withdrawals, and the system will only respond to large withdrawals or unusual activity.

Exactly, you may actually have a case to prove even though your data have already been used to commit that crime, but then it through leaked data on some KYC data base, one thing that we can say is that most of the buyers already have their pre determined motive behind the data purchase and know exactly how to go about it.
They truly have the ulterior bad motive from the beginning because if they don't have, they will use their own ids for any compliance.

I think we know the answer for that question.

When we do compliance for kyc, it should be done on websites or platforms that we highly trust or we mostly use. Because randomly doing it on other websites that we rarely use and just want to comply with it for some bonuses, I don't think that's an ideal use of it.

But for specific websites that we use almost daily, and the company itself is reputable I think we have to limit ourselves into those types of casinos or even in the exchanges that we value and are trustworthy in our opinion.

For most casinos it is clearly stated in their terms that withdrawals may sometimes require KYC especially if they are withdrawing a huge amount of money, this is also important for security purposes as well. But In a case whereby the casino doesn't indicate this I might as well call them a scam because it makes zero sense that they accept deposits with no KYC and then ask for it when a withdrawal is placed, these are important informations that players should be aware of.

well, deposit and withdraw are two different things, and have different rules too. a casino maybe easy to let players make a deposit without KYC, but when someone with that accounts wants to withdraw a large amount after a big win, they need to make sure the account and the person behind made a request the withdrawal are legitimate or by it self. this way also become a services to prevent fraud or someone else trying to withdraw the money from casino. so, if casino already write the rules if that KYC can be required for large withdrawals, then I don't see it as a scam. Players should simply know about the possibility before depositing by read the rules of withdrawal.

I think has become the new standard, though; casinos would allow some activities but when it gets to the aspect of huge withdrawals they would start to demand for it, if it is stated in the ToS, that is fine, gamblers should be aware of it and prepare their mind towards it.

The one I usually frown at are those who claim to be no-KYC, and then when you take a look at them you would see that they also ask for documents when the withdrawal is large, but to them the fact that they are not asking for your details during the registration process makes them a no-KYC, that's the only one I frown at. Just come clean and let people know who you are.
