As mentioned, data leaks are common in France, and a few recent hacks make things easier for people who have criminal minds; they can search for crypto-related people easily, especially those who have big amounts, but good things happen the former owner already left this place, and now a new family is suffering, with the most chances that anyone who buys this house in the near future will also face the same consequences.
Are you confused between data leaks and physical attacks on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investors?

I knew well about information, stats about physical cryptocurrency attacks by nation with France is on top of list of nations. However, to be honest, I have never known that France is a nation with most or one of most data leaked nations.

I know that data leaks can possibly result in physical attacks later but it's not right to assume all physical attacks are because of data leaks.

Who knows if the former owner of the house sold it because he knew that he's not safe in that house. They might have attacked him before he sold the house. Investors forget that crypto is money and you need to keep all your crypto dealings as a secret to prevent wrench attack. Physical attack is more dangerous than online attack because you might lose your life in the process.

As you said, there is a high possibility of this happening, basically when this person planned to sell the house, he may have been attacked before. He may have planned to sell it when he found out that the house was not safe for him, investors often forget that there may be such dangerous possibilities in crypto. Crypto security for a person is not only a focus on online hacking issues, but also his own physical safety and needs. When hackers attack an investor online, it can cause financial damage but not his own life. But when it comes to reality, when an investor purchases something worth seeing with a large amount of money, especially this person has purchased a house, he will definitely be attacked by criminals. Accordingly, the most important thing for the security of your life is to keep yourself hidden from people as much as possible.

Like LoyceV wrote many times that he taught his kids to live privately.
And that is a great thing.  Other than 'Internet money' I can not even see how publishing your own life all the time has any advantage to ever bring you.  From not being able to live in the moment to things like men trying to get women, showing off will only bring you toxicity in your life.

And now there is one more reason for it.  Publishing your life all over the Internet may even affect others in the future.  Not that it was not a thing already, considering how many people are nowadays all around popular and even remote locations with their live streams and 360 cameras all over them so the chance is pretty much zero to have ANY level of Privacy.  Should I even bring car technology and Flock cameras in to discussion.

This is hell we are building for the future, with our own hands.

This could be one of the dangers of buying a house own previously by a crypto person. As we all know that France is notoriously known for it's data leak, criminals who has in their possession the house and the address of crypto holders.

But for safety or whatever reasons, they've sold their houses and the new buyer is not aware that the owner is on the radar of this criminals because they have obtained their data. And so the new owners should know the risk specially buying from a crypto millionaire.

Also for the crypto owners that have sold their house, they are still not safe, because the data might have contained their real names and identities.
After this experience, I will arrest the realtor who sold the house because they were not supposed to hoard information regarding the house. A professional realtor tells you the structure of the house, the past owners, and how they lived in the house.

The family is to be blamed as well for failing to ask the necessary questions regarding the house. I really don't understand why someone would buy a property blindly without knowing the full details of the house they are buying.

Yeah.. I went ahead doing more search. Found out the  attackers were only after  the money own by the previous owner. According to this article , a tip that they own 1M in crypto made them visit continuously.. they probably don’t know it’s a new owner already Tongue.
It’s good to make enquiries before buying a house .. else you might just end up in a trap.

Buying a house permanently is a must, so you should definitely check the past owners, the more trouble-free you want to be, the more you should check and verify that the right owner is there before buying a house. This kind of incident happened in France, which is really a sign of laziness, where if you had done the right research and planned to buy a house from the beginning, it would have been possible to avoid facing any problems later.
However, one incident later became a reason for many more to learn.

Before buying a house, you should definitely check the previous owners, but did you notice that crypto gangs have mistakenly attacked a French couple several times after information was leaked on the dark web, in fact, the crypto gangs were not aware that there was a new owner. The criminals thought that the owners of the house were those who had 1 million euros worth of cryptocurrency, but we noticed that the victims never owned any cryptocurrency.

Since the French couple have been attacked three times after buying a crypto house, it is safe to say that this incident will become a lesson for many more because crypto wrench attacks are constantly increasing and this attack has been the most in France, so it seems that crypto holders should maintain more privacy as a result they will be able to avoid the attacker's trap.

France has become the center of that trend. CertiK recorded 52 verified crypto wrench attacks globally during the first half of 2026, including 33 in France. Home invasions surged from just one verified case in H1 2025 to 20 this year, while recorded financial exposure across all wrench attacks reached $124.1 million.

Yes it is, and it is impossible to know whether the previous owner of a house owned crypto. It is weird to ask such a question before purchase and even if one cares to ask, it's mostly that he won't get the truth.
The funny thing is, well not funny to them of course, but funny as in "how can a stupid person pull this off" kind of way. One of the attackers not only found it on the dark web and thought he had the right people, but also livestreamed the attack they did, for ... what purpose? Lol. These new-generation criminals are literally morons; they are not even aware of how stupid they are.

If this were like 40 years ago, we would not even hear about a thing after they left; we would hear that their house was broken into when they were asleep, because even criminals were more professional. You think that the intern or the junior at your company is doing a bad job? Well, that is not just the regular jobs that you see every day; it is true for the crime world as well. We keep getting younger and stupider versions of everything, including people who are trying to steal stuff.

Things like these increase fear factors about hardware related stuff and also centralized systems because it's only possible through this. Even invaders are now under arrest, but still there is no guarantee families will live in security in the future because just one month and three times of invasion is a big trouble, but now with things like these, it's important for crypto related companies to increase their data security systems, otherwise, they can also face consequences in the future due to this.
If I am not wrong, the co founder of Ledger was also kidnapped, and many founders of crypto faced wrench attacks. There was a site someone mentioned on the AltcoinTalks forum that had all the information about the wrench attacks, and the numbers were increasing like fire.

Yep bro, it is obvious to say that the owner might not be safe. Just because two people have been arrested, it does not remove the owner from the list. But why were they so focused on this specific house that they tried three times? This shows the owner must have a huge amount of coins because these people must have the breached data of taxpayers.

Losing numbers, mail, etc. won't tell much about your holdings as much as the taxpayers' data can tell these wrench attackers.

If you ask me i will say that, this is a security issue and this remind us as crypto users to be security concious with everything that we do as people who are into crypto. The truth is that, there are people who are into crypto that are too loud with their crypto hodling and this will bring unneccessary attention to themself. This types of attacts are not new because, there has been targeted attacts relating to crypto holders all over the world.

The lesson we should take from this type of news is always make sure that you dont make yourself that known to people in your envariment , that you are into crypto especially if you own large amount of money in crypto. This can bring in envy which can lead to things that may not be pleasant. It can lead to physical enjury and even death because these types of attacts are well coordinated and these type of criminal minded people are usually dangerious.

But three attacts in just one month is just too much, the police should do a proper investigation and bring these criminals to face the music that they have started. Because this is a serious crime that should be treated with all levels of seriousness.

Fortunately, I live in a country where law abiding citizens have the right to own firearms.  Home invading perpetrators have a high probability of becoming perforated.    Cool
I live in a country where you're required to annually report everything you own to taxes and you're not allowed to own firearms. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of people at the tax office have access to your data and they don't keep track of "who looks at what". There have already been cases where corrupt government employees sold address data to criminals for bomb attacks (not Bitcoin related).
So taxes are dangerous (and very expensive).

This is looking like a movie, I have watched a similar movie before but I don't know what was used. So because of data leaks now we can't buy or acquire houses again. So who is now to be blame, the person that knows his privacy was comprised and left the place or the company that let their data be exposed. Sometimes, I don't think I can trust these companies for buying hardware wallets again, you can't tell if in the process of protecting your Bitcoin you might lose your life.

I think it's time for people to start using unreal details when they want to order for wallet. Use real name on your order but let the rest of the details be false. The company will sell to you even if you use wrong address or location. You just need to let them bring your package to where you want and they will deliver to you. That way if something happened later in the future, they will not be able to track your house.

Man, crazy things are happening. One would have thought that with the reports of so many failed physical crypto attacks, these criminal minds would desist from their acts but here we go.
I know for sure that they would eventually get caught and it would be such a waste of time, one they would regret for the rest of their lives.
On the other hand, I wouldn't blame the new homeowners, they couldn't have know that such as thing can happen.
We just have to be now more than ever very security conscious.

But is this really just a special thing in France? If criminals really wanted at all cost to obtain data from crypto millionaires and possibly their addresses, aren't there lots of ways to get that done? There are so many public figures talking openly about their holdings, showing off on the Internet or having their data leaked by an exchange. It isn't that much of a deal to get that kind of information in my opinion.

And if you think through this further, what is the conclusion? Never buy a house when you know that the person selling it owned crypto? Perhaps you as an interested buyer can't even know if the seller doesn't openly talk about it. You could accidentally buy a house or always ask "hey did you ever own a good chunk of crypto?".

The question for me is how reliable is the data about these alleged cases. Here it might have been true, but a newspaper sells better when you have all these ingredients, crypto is involved, innocent people are involved, and criminals are involved and then the story is once again perfect. It would be interesting to know whether these cases are disproportionately happening when crypto is involved, and compare that to just millionaires who get robbed as well. Hacking attacks will definitely be targeting crypto a lot, but criminals coming to your home because they found out you own crypto? It is happening, yes. But it could as ell happen when they see you have got three lambos at your house and they want your gold bars, jewelry and what not.
