A few hours ago I noticed that I had been banned from displaying signature which came as a suprise to me, I've been seeing talks about signature ban for a while now here on bitcointalk but didn't really pay them much mind only to find out today that I've been banned as well though not for as long as some others that I've seen, turns out mine was for 3 months, to be lifted come November.


I will very much like to know what 'basic writing skills' in this context means and what the supposed improvements entails because there is very little to go on with what was written there.

@nutildah I will appreciate it if you cleared me on this because I haven't seen anything wrong with my posting and would like to know why I was banned.

Do pyramid quote/ nested quote is one of things to make your post looks like a shitpost but it's not the only factor.

A post can still have good quality, not a shitpost, and it depends on the post content, idea for discussion but surely if it is pyramid quote/ nested quote, it's more annoying and forum members less likely want to read such posts.

When you write a post, you need someone to read it, and if your pyramid quote keeps them away from your post, it's your failure.

To emphasize, shitposts can not become good and quality posts if you simply trim pyramid quotes.

If this reason is taken on consideration of the ban, then we have half of the signature campaigns members doing it regularly and even putting two or three quotes to spread the text between them to look legit. It is the best way to divert attention.
The tool is just an experimental feature. I suppose there are other hidden reasons behind the decision.
By the way, I ask @Nutildah and the staff eventually to create a virtual court with 3 members on it to judge these cases. It doesn't make sense to see the member taking the decision of ban, responsible also for the opposite decision. It will discharge Nutildah from this waste of time and effort, in addition to making the process transparent.

I do not think it will be because of pyramidal quotes, but pyramidal quotes supposed not be too often. I have seen reputable members that are doing their own on the wall observer with pyramidal quotes and they do it while posting on other threads. So I do not think it is because of it. Probably it will be because of how he is posting. But any pyramidal quotes that is not referring to all the people quoted should be avoided, to make the post and thread look clean.

I looked into your account and checked your posts, you post in mega thread too much and when you post on mega thread many people won't see it and won't read it, so I believe that is one of the reasons why your rating is low in the post health checker.
You make good post and that was the reason why they gave you a short signature ban.
Stop writing on mega thread too much, focus on threads that people are going to see your post and read it, which is new threads.

Skimming over your recent posts (and not looking into it deeper) one thing that instantly sticks out (besides the annoying pyramid quoting) is your lack of full stop use which falls under "basic writing skills" and makes your post harder to read and understand. Maybe that's why you got that comment.

The post below is a good example of that.

Most people already know what they need to know to start buying bitcoin even before they decide to start buying, you will find that most who fall for bitcoin related scams were scammed because they were greedy enough to buy into promises of short term gains even when common sense will tell you that if such short term success was possible with bitcoin everyone would already be investing in bitcoin, just figure out what to buy with which is your discretionary income, once that has been settled you can start buying bitcoin, all the knowledge you think is necessary to start can be learnt while you invest.

If I were you, I would start working on proper punctuation and text formatting in general.

Maybe it's the fact that people use this forum too much on smartphones, so it's hard for them to format posts in a way that's pleasing to the eye, but the OP is a classic example of what I find very irritating - completely unnecessary use of the quote option in most posts.

However, I don't believe that he was banned just because of that, because realistically his posts seem very generic and repetitive, and when I look at this post on page 190 of the topic, I wonder what to call it? Maybe the simplest thing would be to say that it's "Megathread quote shitposting".

Do managers even pay for posts in such topics?

Some do, some don't. You can take a guess whether OP was paid for his.

User Script: Automatically remove nested quotes v1.1.1. It's available for mobile like Android as well as on PC/Mac/Laptop.

Good posters or at least not spammers can quote without nested, pyramid while spammers will not need to use this user script because they only have time for spamming.

The issue of pyramid posting is one thing, I do edit some of the quotes to just the one I want to respond to, though sometimes I leave them because they are all still related. Going forward though I definitely don't see it as too much stress to make sure to edit anything else I will be posting from today.
On very few occasions I miss editing for typos and end up posting with some misspelled words, I've had to edit some of those in the past when I notice the typo in them but I can't say I do that all the time.
To a good extent people can still make out the actual word from the mistake and I get enough quotes to believe that people read the things I write since I doubt someone will quote without reading, I definitely won't quote you if I haven't read what you wrote.

I do want to know if it's the pyramid posts (that most times also has my previous quotes in them), the typing mistakes that I sometimes fail to edit or the mega threads that qualify as need to improve my writing skills.

You know I wouldn't be bothered with few months of bans, I'd just live it out and heed the improvements but I agree with the note here — it's vague, and doesn't really say anything. Since I read in sigban thread that bans are done manually— I am sure the notes could be precise specially for sig banned users, so they don't have to try to 'figure out' what exactly went wrong.
