If you want to invest in Bitcoin for a couple of years, keeping it secured is important purchasing Bitcoin is the only first step you also need to store it in a server place to protect it from hackers , scam or losing access.
The best way to store Bitcoin is a non-custodial wallet. This is a wallet where you control the Private keys it means you are the only person that has access to your Bitcoin a popular saying in the community is "Not your keys Not your coins" if you leave your Bitcoin on exchange you are trusting the company keep it secured for you. When you create a wallet you will have a seed phrase usually made up of 12 or 24 words Write this word down or a paper or metal back up and keep them in a safe environment do not share your seed phrase with anyone or save it online because anyone who get it can steal your Bitcoin using a hardware wallet is wise choice it your private key office making them harder for hackers to each also use a strong pin and enable two factors authentication on your exchange account keep your wallet software update and regular backup. In more options keeping Bitcoin safely is just as important as purchasing it by controlling your private keys protecting your seed phrase and using secure storage method you can keep your Bitcoin safe for many years and reduce the risk of losing your investment.

It can be easy to keep your Bitcoin safe for many years if you never connect your wallet to the internet and store your seed phrase and passphrase in a safe place away from the internet. If you can take these steps correctly, at least you will be able to maintain a safe distance from hackers or scammers. In this case, you must choose a reputable wallet.
However, your security depends on how knowledgeable and prudent you are, with the main security you have. Your words can also increase security risks and your unusual behavior can also attract fraudsters. You also need to be prudent when storing your passphrase and seed phrase offline. Just keeping it offline is not safe, you need to know the techniques to protect it from theft, robbery, water and fire. Security cannot always be ensured by following written rules, security is a kind of strategy that sometimes has to work outside the rules.

Right on point, it important most essentially having to understand malware and scammers is very important, allot of users will so much focus on choosing wallet, having to forget that the person operating such wallet can also be a weakest point. Having the best cold wallet won’t save a careless user that will expose their seed phase or having to be so careless in signing a malicious transaction. I would keep saying this that Basic security practices is important it should come first before even deciding to choose In between multisig setup, hardware or even air gapped.

You are speaking about long term and you added the "not your keys not your coins" phrase which show you are aware of what it means but why are you speaking about exchanges especially when you are discussing about long term storage? Even before purchase or acquiring bitcoin security measures should be considered.

The summary is always stay updated and keep learning about scams hacks malware and basically any type of threat you could face potentially both online and offline. The recent cold card scam obviously goes to further prove that regardless of online or offline wallets you are never a hundred percent safe. Not just using a noncustodial wallet but also an open source wallet. That's the only way you can assertain at least a considerable level of safety. If you can always try to use custom words too it helps.

In more options keeping Bitcoin safely is just as important as purchasing it by controlling your private keys protecting your seed phrase and using secure storage method you can keep your Bitcoin safe for many years and reduce the risk of losing your investment. I believe this topic has been covered multiple times on the forum but it's always good we remind ourselves on the need of protecting our investment every now and then so we can always stay updated incase there is any changes and improvement on how safeguard our investments. Most people investing into Bitcoin still rely on CEX and custodial service providers to store their Bitcoin for them and that decision is as wrong as trusting your banks to keep your money well for you but both can vanish without much explanation or compensation being given to you and you get taken many step backward to when you had nothing all because you trusted centralized services to help store your assets/money.

Even before purchase or acquiring bitcoin, security measures should be considered. Just trying to connect the dots between 2FA security on an exchange and wallet security; the ops may be seeing the exchange as the means of buying the bitcoin intended for long-term investment before transferring it into his personal wallet. One thing new cryptocurrency long-term investors should know is. Even those with a DCA approach practice you must first learn how to protect your bitcoin assets before you take the step to even buy your first bitcoin, so that you will not easily lose it to the tricks of scammers a d hacker's because of a lack of proactive security measures.

Your asset safety should be your top priority, that’s why we can’t emphasize on securing your assets enough. Nothing is more painful than you losing your assets due to carelessness , just imagine after gathering or building your bitcoin stash to some extent, you endup losing it all . Keeping your bitcoin safe is among the basic knowledge of bitcoin , keeping it safe is quite simple. First don’t be careless with your assets make sure you use the best possible means to store it , like using a non custodial wallet if you have some funds to spare you can get yourself a hard wallet and still be careful with it still because using it doesn’t make your asset completely or 100% safe.

But sometimes it's not all about buying bitcoin alone, but how to control it or holding it for a long-term. It's high time that some newbies should ask thier self a question that, what if I lost all my bitcoins I bought? And how can I have an access to it again? In my own opinions, let's the security should be part of main priority of bitcoin investment, there's nothing hard in identifying the best wallet to use for storing your bitcoin for long-term holdings, once the seed phrase was known by another person, I don't think there's need in your password to take out your bitcoin.
Again another unexpected problems or situations can comes ahead, whereby person or someone lost his seedphrase or sending a bitcoin to wrong address, almost these ones are still lessons to learn from others that were affected. Starting with small amounts you have and it should be amounts you can afford to lose, know how it works by observing the process and learn the learn able, controlling of bitcoin is your own responsibility that bitcoin gives you. The most important thing is, even after a severe years, how can you still get access to it. As such take your security aspect serious

To set up a cold wallet comes with the biggest risk in my opinion and any mistakes here makes other effort almost ineffective. I think it's better to always use a separate device if one has to pair a cold wallet to a wallet like Electrum, probably because of the interface that electrum offers and then use all the security protocol you mentioned to make it solid. It's even good to have more than one cold wallet or air gapped wallet, because from my perspective a backup of a backup mostly when it comes to Bitcoin holdings of large size in one wallet, is better than only one good cold wallet or airgapped wallet with maximum security.

Many people especially beginners don’t seem to bother much about security very well before, they are more concerned about the profits, the price and how they can accumulate but after this Coldcard incident and again trezor data breach, they are now very concerned about security and that is why you are seeing many people taking about security. This is a very important wake-up call about security because it is very important but most beginners like to neglect learning much about it because they think it is complicated but it is not and it should be one of the first things a beginners should learn and understand before that start buying bitcoins.

Some are just talking about it now, but that does not mean they will still take it seriously. I have some people whom I have known who only take life or something serious when there is a trend about it; after the trend dies or they are back to their normal routine, don’t be surprised that people who you see asking some security questions will still go back to trusting centralized exchanges where they can save their coins and prefer closed-source wallets like “Trust Wallet" over Bitcoin-only recommended open-source wallets.

Still, don't be surprised that some individuals literally do not care about the Coldcard incident and Trezor incident, they do not care much about security because they are not really affected by coldcard or trazor breach, but funny enough, no one knows what the future holds, and we still do not pray for the worst to happen but at least people should show concerns whenever they hear such incidents in other for them to be updated and to know how to protect their Bitcoin for any future attacks. Some are just talking about it now, but that does not mean they will still take it seriously. That's correct, and do you know why they don't normally take it seriously? That's because they are not affected; if, by chance, they are affected in any way, trust me when I say they will protect their next Bitcoin wallet with everything that they have got. Some people don't just learn from others; they wait until they have finally become one of the victims before they learn.

If we are to use them, not directly being affected, what then can we say about those who are victims of Ponzi schemes and scams on multiple occasions but still rush to join in the new one each time they come across it? Some people are just too stubborn until they fall victim to something and it hits them where they can’t recover from it easily; they don’t learn.

Is it just them not being affected or their ignorance? If we are to use them, not directly being affected, what then can we say about those who are victims of Ponzi schemes and scams on multiple occasions but still rush to join in the new one each time they come across it? Some people are just too stubborn until they fall victim to something and it hits them where they can’t recover from it easily; they don’t learn. I think these are two different things entirely if we want to talk about ponzi scheme. Isn't it obvious that most people don't really care so long as they are not affected like others? They only react at the moment, but a few days later everything turns to normal. Although there are still some who do learn and stay updated, while there's sre others who are ignorant of most situations. But if we want to talk about Ponzi schemes, then we are going into another discussion entirely. But those who repeatedly become victims of Ponzi schemes are their own problem because they are greedy, always want to get quick profit, and meanwhile they have been scammed earlier.

Even before purchase or acquiring bitcoin security measures should be considered.
I can be certain that is only a few persons that thinks about having a secure wallet to store their Bitcoin before going on to think about profit. What we normally hear people talk of when they share their interest of getting to start Bitcoin investment, it is always about how to make profit. It can not be exhausting to say that having a secured airgap wallet from a good source is an important criteria towards having a profiting Bitcoin investment. A bad investment does not have to do with just about panic selling your asset prematurely out of fear but it adds up with having your wallet hacked with all your coins drained from it dew to the use of a non-reliable tested and trusted HW wallet
