Lock the League discussion thread and start new league discussion every season.

Some OP that created some league discussion thread needs to lock those thread and start a new thread since the season is about to start.
Some OP actually locked the league discussion thread they started immediately the league ended and started a new one, for example the OP that created the Champions League thread.
Discussion league thread like the premier League and la Liga thread should be locked and a new one should be created. I believe doing so will help reduce spam and keep the gambling board clean a little bit.

All league discussion thread should be locked immediately a season ends and a new thread should be started.

This will end no where. The old threads will still remain. Since people have been discussing about it, no changes.

But is it not self-centered thinking? You can prefer new threads to be created for it, but I can prefer to use the old thread. I mostly post on the old threads, although not frequently.

Sometimes post league discussions will keep this thread alive until the next seasons starts and discussions continues, where I see problem is in the hundreds of replies that have already been made in those old league thread and it seems to be the biggest mega thread in the board's around thie forum, suggestions to get it locked have not yielded any positive outcome. I don't know why it hard, but then there is little that can be done about this as long as people still find the old threads interesting to keep discussing new seasons.

I actually think the opposite - we should have just a single thread for discussing each of the top leagues, all other ones should be locked. This would make the job of the moderators easier, they just have to make sure no new one is open. If you want a new thread each season you will get multiple new ones which will make the boards worse.

I think we need less new threads for the board. The existing ones exist as a sport chat section which is normal for a gambling community. Most of the newer ones created with little motive makes the board messier.

I wonder if the mods will locked those mega threads if the gambling community report them. In my opinion, you shouldn’t complain if you have not done your bit by making reports. Like Charles-Tim said, this has been discussed multiple times on meta even recently.

This topic has been discussed before, new league threads have created since then and I don’t think anything is going to change in the future as long as there are signature campaigns.

Having the old thread has its benefits just to ensure that similar threads are not being created on same discussion, so that they won't be having multiple topics on related discussion, but to the other end, if we are going to support the creation of a new one, I think new discussions and updates are easily buried due to high post coming with the old thread.

I kinda agreed. If topic title can be easily update and edit then new threads arent necessary unless the topic creator becomes inactive anymore and needed for a new one.

This isnt only on gambling boards but can be applied to other section as well like local data updates on merit and etc. But seeing gambling boards has a lot of league of different sports this should be well discuss and uniformly do on whats needed on topic like this.

You have a fine point actually. Personally I don't fancy making replies in mega threads and it's because most often seem like repetitive discussions sometimes people even vear off the topic. Well there are a couple good sides to it like less congested topics and more summarised ones.

Anyways personally if I had to suggest I'll say it would be ok if a new topic is used every season and after the end of the season the moderator can proceed to merge them with older ones just for the sake of proper moderation and organisation.

Without even the need to always visit the meta board to be updated on latest happenings within the forum, it just creates more confusion both for those who are new and even for some of the oldies, when they see new topics of same thread discussion in same section every season.
There's always a post from the original poster to iterate members of the new season resumption in the older threads and one should have to see this to know it's a continuation of same discussion but in a new season and time stamp.

More threads on same subject of discussion means more shit posters and more spamming and it's better to avoid this scenario than to heap more load of work on moderators.

I know that someone has raised this kind of topic and it was discussed, but I think this thread should serves as a reminder to admin in charge of gambling sections, so that will know those mega threads needs to be locked and open new one as said, I have not seen anything bad about it, but we need to know that we have discussed this before, if this thread have a lot of replies that will drag attention of the mods to consider it and trash the other thread that have so many pages, I have not noticed it, if mods usually done it, but base on this kind of thread have repeated itself severally that means it needs consideration

I think the reason why OP and some persons might want new topic to be created while the old one is being locked after a season has passed is probably because the old thread grow into a mega thread and some persons don't like going to mega thread, like myself, I hard write on league discussion mega thread, I know I did that before but stopped at some point. So, even if old leagues discussions thread is locked after a new season and new one is created, I don't think it's bad but where it would be bad is if everyone starts creating the same topic individually.

Yeah, but imagine if the member who created it is not here anymore. Who will create the new thread for the new season? I think this is also why we should just keep on using the old thread to avoid too many threads created in the gambling discussion board. There are already a lot of different versions, but just the same discussions inside. We don't really need to make more and lock the old ones if it's still working perfectly for the members who have been using it.

Just go to the last page to keep yourself updated. It's not that hard. Then just edit the title of the page.

I don't agree OP. Why should there be new threads for the English Premier League, for example, for each season? That's not going to stop spam. A new topic for the 26/27 season is not a guarantee of quality posts. I would rather have everything contained in one place and if there is spam, users can report it and mods will act on those reports. Quite a few users have received signature bans in the last couple of weeks. That should lower the spamming somewhat.

I don't think that there's anything wrong with the old thread because it's a continuation of the league even though, it's a new season. Creating new thread every season will lead to a lot of spam on creating it and that will give the mod a lot of work to do by deleting similar thread because of too much duplication in the threads.
