It happened today in early Saturday, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake. 38 people have died because of the disaster and the official death toll is rising.

The quake struck the island of Flores shortly before 05:00 local time on Saturday (22:00 GMT on Friday). It had a depth of 15km, Indonesia's meteorology and geophysics agency stated.

It is very sad to see the number of casualties rising, hopefully the rescue team can reach those who are still trapped and more lives can be saved.

Earthquake are scary because there is really nothing anyone can do once it starts. The only thing that matters is how prepared people are before  something like this happens especially in countries and areas that are earthquake prone. Proper emergency response needs to be made and also people knowing what to do before and when this earthquake happens can save a lot of lives.

Indonesia is one of the most earthquake prone countries in the world. Along with Japan and the Philippines, they are among the countries most prone to earthquakes, as they all lie on the Pacific ring of fire. This is a geographic region where most of the world's volcanoes and major seismic fault are concentrated.

I read about this news and happened to come across another report. Flores was the site of a devastating earthquake and tsunami in 1992 that killed more than 2000 people.

Earthquakes, tsunamis and natural disasters are really hard to fight against. As long as human keep destroying the environment for their own ambition, we will continue to face more disaster and increasingly serious consequences.

Those people that are experiencing all this natural disasters are really suffering, I think we are lucky when it comes to natural disaster because we don't experience it, the only natural disaster that I know some part in my country face is flooding and it does not kill people like that because it those not come with force.

One of the natural disasters I fear so much is earthquake because when it happens it is usually kill a lot of people.

Sad news. Natural disasters has been predominant these period with Countries in Asia and America taking a big hit. I don't know how far metrological stations and metrologist has gone in making the detection of an impending natural disaster known.
Technology is here to make things better and integrating technology into the detection of natural disaster can help evacuation process to become faster there by saving lives and properties.

 It's so sad that it's the third recent earthquake news one is hearing and I'm just feeling so sad for those who were hit. Infact, the country at the moment. Last time it was Colombia whose death toll has risen to 290 and about 4000 injured while over 140 are missing. It's a sad time and these are natural disasters and as such not every time there will be information about when such is about to happen so that there'd be less casualties.

Earthquakes happen at vulnerable areas where the soil is not strong enough and research should be thoroughly carried out before one will go ahead to raise a building in such areas because when earthquake happens, one will easily know the corners available. Earthquakes are spine-chilling and I wouldn't even wish that to happen to your enemies because the end result is always horrifying.

The government should ensure the area is safe and also instruct a proper emergency ward responsible in case earthquake happens, atleast the lives of the citizens would be safe.

Its indeed a very bad news to hear, especially now that people are fighting to find possible ways of overcoming the already established chaos all over the world.  I don't know if i will channel the blame on the governments failure but on the other hand natural disasters cannot be stopped when it wishes to strike.
At this point all we will do is pray for such not to repeat again as the lifes of citizens are very precious and also the government needs to step up a little,  at least create a strategic method through which such occurrence can be spotted out next time so as to save the lifes of people within that premises since it cannot be stopped.

This is another worrisome news about another earthquake, this time it is in Indonesia, we're just recovering from the news about the Colombia, quake and this is happening now and I'm wondering if we're yet going to hear about another one but I'm sincerely hoping that we don't because innocent lives are lost everytime we hear about it. People in these earthquake regions should either relocate or be very vigilant and look out for early signs like when there is slight tremor in their locations, I think that it is better to relocate from these areas so they won't be swallowed during the high magnitude quakes and probably die, I wouldn't live in such areas. Despite the flawed governments in Africa, we hardly record any natural disasters, we don't have earthquakes, hurricanes and the rest of them, I sympathize with the bereaved families of the deceased in these natural disasters.

Some countries have not experience earthquake for ones while to some it has become a normal experience for them.
It a natural disasters which makes it some how impossible to permanently stop it, but can be managed and with cautionary steps and that helps reduce it effects on people, life and proper before it occurs. It has really taking the life's of many.

Earthquake can not be managed, it will happen when ever it wants to happen up the magnitude it wants to be. No one can stop it from happening and no one can reduce how severe it would be. Only what people do is to prepare for it so that it will not affect them. The country's geographical area sits on a few different tectonic plates underneath therefore it's just not surprising that they're prone to such natural disaster as earthquake. The unfortunate thing is the loss of lives that goes with the occurrences, interruptions to people's plans as many people would have to start all again with their plans due to how perhaps the earthquake may have submerged their properties and fields.

Is unfortunate to be seeing sad events all the time within this period because is not more than eight days ago we were talking about the same earthquake that also strike Colombia and now Indonesia is also witnessing the same disaster that has caused a lot of emotional trauma to the Colombians, although considering the magnitude of the both earthquake that happen in those two countries I think Indonesia was very lucky as they did not loss too many people as the Colombians, although the island it strikes could be the reason why it wasn't able to damage up to the Colombia earthquake but however I feel empathy for those countries.

What is really happening these days with the experience of earthquakes in some countries? I know that most of these occurrences are based on natural phenomenal than what human activities contribute to the incidents of earthquakes. It is time for everyone to be careful and also know the kind of environment they live in, because this is so devastating and claims several lives unexpectedly where it occurs.

Earthquake can not be managed, it will happen when ever it wants to happen up the magnitude it wants to be. No one can stop it from happening and no one can reduce how severe it would be. Only what people do is to prepare for it so that it will not affect them. And only country who managed to reduce potential damage of earthquake is Japan - they have very strict requirements for buildings as it has to be earthquake-resilient. But such things is barely possible in poor countries like Indonesia.
