Let's look back to history and let's make logical conclusions! ( the nations and innovation)

Before money, people used the barter system (trading a cow for wheat). This was highly inefficient.
The breakthrough happened around 600 BCE in Lydia (modern-day Turkey)

The Innovation: King Alyattes minted the first official, standardized coins made of electrum (a natural alloy of gold and silver).
The Result: This financial innovation allowed the neighboring Greek city-states to build massive trading networks. It funded the first universities, navies, and empires because capital could now be moved, saved, and invested rapidly.

The British Empire Case: From Pioneers to "Stagnation"

How they won: In the 18th and 19th centuries, Britain was surrounded by powerful enemies (France, Spain, the Netherlands). They had to innovate to survive. They developed the steam engine, the global telegraph network, and modern banking. Why they slowed down: Once Britain became the undisputed global superpower, they grew comfortable.
The elite invested their wealth in land and luxury rather than upgrading their factories. Meanwhile, younger, hungrier nations with harsher conditions (like Germany and the USA in the late 19th century) started out-innovating them in chemicals, electricity, and steel. Comfort often breeds complacency.

The British Empire literally built the world's very first global "internet" out of copper, iron, and tree sap.
The Goal: The British government wanted a communication network that landed only on British-controlled soil or went through international waters.
The Result: By 1902, the network was complete. A message from London could travel under the Atlantic, across Canada, under the Pacific, and reach Australia, India, or Hong Kong in under ten minutes. Before this, a letter carried by a steamship took six weeks or more to reach India.

The Geopolitical Strategy: "Dumb Opponents" vs. "Hungry Alliances"theory about wanting your opponents to be "brainwashed or lazy" while keeping alliances "hungry but stable" aligns very well with real-world grand strategy.
In the modern world, democratic alliances (like the US and its allies) do benefit when rival regimes suppress their own people. When a rival nation uses heavy censorship, strict propaganda, and state control, they create a compliant, brainwashed population. The Catch: While this makes the population easy to control, it kills innovation.
True innovation requires free thinking, the right to challenge authority, and the freedom to fail. Authoritarian regimes can easily copy technology, but they struggle to invent entirely new fields (like the US did with the internet or AI).

I agree with a few of the points, but not all. History shows that pressure, competition, and institutions can strongly influence innovation, but comfort alone doesn't automatically cause stagnation. Britain remained innovative for a long time even after becoming a global power, and the US has also experienced periods where established industries became resistant to change.

Also, the idea that authoritarian countries simply cannot innovate is not true. They can produce major scientific and technological advances when the state concentrates enormous resources on a specific objective. The bigger problem is often whether the system can consistently encourage independent experimentation.

According to Christian belief God created everything that is natural in six days and after that every other creations we're the works of humans, what is clear is that the human mind is imaginative and anything it desires it finds a way to achieve and that why we keep seeing innovations from generations to the next. There are always great minds in every generations that chalanges the narratives and that is how developments and innovations keeps happening until today, I'm sure that in the future some technologies that we can only imagine now would be possible like teleporting from one location to another.

Everything in the OP comes about as a result of a few gifted people that chalanges the narratives of their time, from trade by barta to modern banking and now cryptocurrency which have Bitcoin as a decentralized digital currency with a limited supply, something that chalanges the narrative of government controlled financial systems. AI is the next level of innovation now I'm sure that in the future we will see another next level that we can only imagine today.

The Britain was surrounded by powerful enemies but they were also powerful and their innovations, Global trade and powerful navy helped them become the global powerhouse when the conquered and controlled most of the trade routes but their development and innovation started slowing down while other developing nations at the time like America, started rapidly developing their industries, the Britain became almost stagnant and they run out money they even had to borrow from countries like the USA.

Countries with state control and heavy censorship or Authoritarian regimes as you called them don’t always produce “lazy” or “brainwashed” populations, the regimes might limit innovations yes but with proper governing they can create a high literate population which will be very hardworking and in turn build great technologies and advance the “newly invented fields” that other countries have invented even better.

Nevertheless, the world somehow existed before the advent of the United States, and even inventions and scientific discoveries were made. Because that's not why scientists make their discoveries, but for completely different reasons. And even if the country is authoritarian, this does not mean that scientists are necessarily oppressed.

Euler lived almost all his life in Russia (where he was invited by Tsarina Catherine II) and made his discoveries there, which are still used in mathematics. Did you know that the "quantum threat" (Shor's algorithm) is based, among other things, on Euler's theorem (from number theory)? Moreover, Tsarina Catherine II could not be attributed to the Democrats in any way. Her reign was very authoritarian.

Just like those first electrum coins unlocked global trade, Bitcoin is doing the same for the digital age by removing state bottlenecks.

Authoritarian regimes might be able to copy tech, but they can't invent the next big thing because they crush the thought process required to build it. Which is why Bitcoin and networks like Nostr are so important.

That's one way to narrate the history and it is understandable why there are still people who think like this. As they say "history is written by the victor." and even today due to the heavy censorship in the West, most people have such an imaginary view of the world and the history that is written by the colonizers.

But the reality is very different and this whole narrative is missing a couple of key and important facts.
All these tiny and insignificant so-called "Empires" like the British Empire did not become powerful and large because of their innovations. They did that because they were barbaric and brutal and stole other nation's technology and resources and then destroyed everything they had.
Basically it started when they stole the technology from the Eastern bloc, specifically gunpowder from the Chinese, and then started building deadly weapons and used them against people of other nations like the barbarians they were.

This is the colonial era, where they start invading other countries, mass slaughter their people and steal all their wealth and resources. That's how they got ahead and appeared powerful for a dark period of this world.
Just to put that in numbers to give you some idea, there are some extensive studies that prove the colonizers stole over $800 trillion from Africa alone.
Tell me where would Africa be today if they hadn't been attacked by the colonizers and their civilization not destroyed?

And most importantly, the barbaric empires didn't become weak and fall apart because they "got comfortable" as you put it. They got weak because their barbarism couldn't continue indefinitely and they didn't have much to go with on their own without pillaging other nations, and they were addicted to something they could no longer do.
Interestingly enough, that's the story of today's world as well. With a barbaric US regime (which is an artificial colony itself) having gotten addicted to scamming (eg. Petrodollar scam) plundering resources of others (invasion of Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan,... ) got ahead. More interesting than that is how its moment in the sun was very short unlike the barbaric regimes before. The unipolar world roughly lasted 20 years and the regime is getting weaker every day as their crimes against the world catches up to them.

While it is true that we are creating everything, we are also ruining everything at the same time. I am not a religious man, and I would not be a Christian even if I had to pick a religion. But I also have to remind everyone that the whole "Jesus died for our sins" thing is because no human could be without a sin; no human- doesn't matter who you are, doesn't matter how well your intentions are- there is absolutely nothing that you could be that has zero sins. It means, if we created the whole thing, we built it, then we sinned the way most likely.

And we are flawed human beings; we all are, and that means we did something wrong. If we wanted to, and I mean this literally, we could all live a much better life; even the billionaires could live a better life. We just needed to do it, and we did not; that is the problem. Because it is not enough that we must do better, but also we need to see ourselves doing better than OTHERS, and that is why we ruin the world for others.

Innovative doesn't need suffering for it to actually happen. If government give incentives, innovation can also happen. And saying authoritarian government can't produce an innovative society is false. There are countries now pulling their weight in an authoritarian government. We have China, Burkina Faso an African government. It's not all about what type of government. But who is on the sit. An innovative government whether he rules under democracy or authority will do well because of who he is. Not the type of government is under.

True innovation requires free thinking, the right to challenge authority, and the freedom to fail
People these days are no longer afraid to fail but, when you challenge the authority and questions a lot of their bad doings, you'll be heavily targeted by them and much worse ending your life. We've seen the martyrs who have been exposing the system and the worst in the system of government and where they are right now? they were silenced. There's still a huge influence from the strong countries where they're dictating the economy on whether it will be good or not for the others who have been tied to them. So it makes sense that power also comes from their allies and then helps them economically. Innovation will continue and it won't be stopped unless the government gets involved and they have a benefit out of it.

Yes I agree with you on that, whatsoever forms or type of government is in charge of that position it won't produce a good government what ever results we needed or are expecting to get, it's is the person in it that becomes the major character of the nobles.
Many of this leaders are currupt.

Social media made sure that morons have a voice as well. Back in the day, if you were a moron and you spoke out, you would be mostly alone in a room of people who are smarter than you, because if you are a moron, most rooms you are in, people are smarter than you.

Now, thanks to social media, all morons in the world have found each other, and this is why we are living in a world where smart people may get attacked by thousands of morons on social media for saying the truth. So if you want to try something new, innovate, and do something great, you will face a lot of morons who will try to take you down because they are morons and can't do that themselves, so they want to take down whoever can. If you want to innovate, or basically do anything, ignore social media, and just do it yourself; do not look at what people are saying about it.

Haha, so true. This time, it's now a larger group for everyone who wants to speak out, intelligent or not.

Basically, just ignore whatever any person says about what you do and what's in your head. The first one to believe you is yourself and if you see the purpose and result of it, you definitely have to push for that innovation. All of the successful innovators have that point of their lives where a lot of people tried to pull them down and said that whatever they're trying to do, it's not going to work but only those who stopped and listened to them failed.

You do have to make mistakes, or sin, or anything, to progress the world. If we were all godly people who have followed religion and nothing more, we would still be in the Dark Ages. We are not, because of the Enlightenment Age, and getting out of the church's heels, and finally having our own thoughts.

And progression doesn't look great at all times, looks terrible, but it happens and can't be stopped. For example, AI looks scary right now; we do not know the ned of it, we do not know what can happen in the future. Maybe it will be in the hands of terrible people and will be something very dangerous, but that doesn't mean that we are going to end up with great results at any given moment. We have to realise that sometimes it also results in good as well.
