This discussion has a lot of hidden facts that mere way of analysis can't give accurate courses of the failure of the independence of Africa but by deep research. But let me  paint a scenarios in like manner, if I am hold your control of your valuable asset you don't know it's worth and the fact you don't know your asset value, your too curious to take it from me holding it do you expect me to tell you all the worth and value of your asset knowing full well I am eyeing to lay hold the asset. Africa have be given independence but refuse to learn and improve from what they have been given, because you improve on some in various medium, speaking in one voice, been truthful to yourself through avoidance of any deceit. Africa are not ready to change their narrative by developing their own rather than embezzling that has reduced their value making them worthless before their colonial masters.

African countries are definitely independent countries. What are the qualities of an independent countries,  they have their own sovereignty,  they have their constitution,  political leaders, structures, currencies etc. These makes them independent, so it's wrong to ask such question if they are truly independent or not. I believe the countries in the world are intertwined,  so they definitely need each others to survive,  so if African countries collects aids, loans or grant from western countries,  that does not mean they are not independent,  because they make their own laws and have full control of their territory without any external influence. We should not forget that most of the western countries also gets their raw materials from Africa,  which is something that Africa countries also supply to the western nation. So asking for aids does not make a countries less independent.

As a child in school,i was told Africa got Independence from the Europeans some long years ago and people celebrated. Each country celebrate her independence on the day the country was granted independence. But my question is if really the independent granted is real or not. Today, Africa run to the countries they gain independent from for aids and grants. Because if you are truly dependent you should be able to provide all your needs and not going to cry like a child. I don't know what you will mention and someone will boldly tell you it manufactured or produce in Africa.

Africa is independent in name, but not in practice. We have our own flags, anthems and seats at the UN, but we still depend on foreign aid, foreign loans and foreign expertise to run our countries. True independence is not just about political freedom but also about economic freedom. Can we feed ourselves!! Can we build our own infrastructure and Can we make decisions without outside pressure. Until we can sincerely answer yes to those questions, we are still very dependent.

Honestly Op you are not the only one asking such questions, alot of us have felt that same celebration of Independence Days as children back then and now it just pops into our heads to ask wait?…are we even independent? Well on the political language in the real papers yes, but a plan terms most African countries didn't really get that legal independence from the colonizers' master but as for many such as Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa etc and lot more got there own as for the 1990s and they really battle for the independent and that’s why you can see we all have our own flags, presidents, laws and we celebrate Independence Day every years in each country that got independence…

Well the fact remains that most Africa countries are still have unfinished business with them because they still run back to the countries for the aid, loans, grants, and even imports 80% of everything from there which to me it still feels like dependent…
