The two languages that we all know how to speak in Nigeria is English and Pidgin.

Both should be accepted.

It means freedom to post in anyone you like.

If you do not want an outsider to do competition with you, make it as a rule in the contests. If not, no rules against them. But to post, they have the right to post. But it will be good not to deny that they are not Nigerians.

I believe say you fit do your own research, so I go want make you try search for the two major languages wey Indians dey speak, then you tell us.

But one thing I go want make you actually observe well be say make you check those boards wey dey on strictly with their local language and those wey dey on both English and their other local languages, then make you tell us watin you observe.

Well, in case you no observe anything or you no get the time to do those things, make I tell you plainly: those boards wey dey on both English and their other major languages dey always get more complains for the forum than the ones wey dey always write with their major local language for their local board.

The simple truth be say all these pipo wey dey form say them no sabi pidgin, aswr to God, them dey chew am raw anyhow if you meet them in person, everybody just dey form here because of reputation. As for the voting aspect, I vote for strictly on pidgin language.

I don ask myself tire why e be say anytime them raise this matter, our able Mod Dey always Dey active to wire am enter off-topic. But I guess with the explanation and the points wey our mod don give for this thread now don really make sense and I see reasons with am. Pidgin fit Dey unofficial, but the truth be say, na e be the most spoken language for we country, and e only make sense say we normalize using am more often than we Dey use English, at least e go give us somewhat level of identity.

For me o, I feel like say na this talk of say secret or say people dey put eye na make some of us no want make this changes, make e for no be like say we get something to hide. But the motivation for this suggestion dey different and the link dey for the OP.

I believe this thread will put the topic to rest. So far, we have only 30 voters. I’d have to check the monthly report thread to see how many active users we have on here. It will be helpful if at least 85% of members have their say.

I feel like this na the right time for us to revisit the discussion of approved language for our local board. I know say na big adjustment but imo na for the betterment of the board. Wetin una think?
PS: please use the poll. I know say the topic go vex some people, abeg try resist the urge to post “I told you so”. He dey okay for people to get different opinions and also change their mind over time.

I for agree to the thing you talk to they acceptable by everyone but AI now fit write pidgin for person and e get as how the person go arrange am, e no go they detectable. This mata done come out almost 3 times this year and ever since then e no get any solution to the thing. About 70-80% of Nigerians both in and out of the country speaks and write pidgin very well. It's almost everybody's first language with English being the third.( Aside your native language). I wrote many discussions, many thread, many guides on this board all in pidgin. It was lengthy but possible because pidgin is my second language. But I don't always put every discussion in pidgin, not because I dey form or something but because I believe everyone here on the local board can read any of those two languages. So it would be wrong to say that people who chose not to write in pidgin are selfish( dey form).

I honestly understand why it is even becoming more important for the local board to be in pidgin, because of how we now have perpetuators here. It simply won't stop them from coming or would change any thing. We just have to find better ways of identifying these persons or like igebotz opinion, make your threads pidgin restrained.
