The English Football League is second League of England better known as Championship.
There are 24 teams in the league and top clubs are promoted to EPL English Premier League.
Champions of last season was Coventry.

Guys we have EFL Championship league finally started today and we saw plenty of goals and interesting results today.
There are three more matches left to be played in Sunday and Monday, but it is important to remember that Southampton started with 4 point deduction because of Federation decision.
They are playing against Watford tomorrow and they need to win if they want to reduce point gap in first round.
Very good start of the season for newcomer Bolton who win their first match against Preston.

I think this was left from last season thread showing winners from 2 seasons ago. The table you posted is accurate from last season, Coventry won the league qualifying to the EPL along with Ipswich and Hull who made it through playoffs.

First it's a bit sad that we won't have prediction pool this season. Without it I automatically will pay less attention to Championship. And it will be so strange to see West Ham playing in Championship after spending so many season in EPL. Don't know about you guys, but it's one of teams that I prefer to see playing in EPL, so, I hope that they will earn promotion.

Those 4 points are equivalent to 1 ½  games, Southampton began their season with that deficit. I might be missing something here, is their situation related to the spygate case from last season?

If it is indeed linked to that case, then I think they deserve that punishment, it was detrimental not only to Middlesbrough but also to Oxford United & Ipswich Town.

Yes, it's penalty for spygate. 4 points doesn't looks much, but when fighting for promotion, even 4 points can be crucial.

Today Cadiff will be facing Wrexham today at home and since it's the beginning of the season, I normally refrain from betting since alot of teams aren't balance but with the odds given to Wrexham and there performance last seaon, I think I will attempt to play alittle. In this match am thinking od handicapping Wrexham with 1 goal to win. I don't know if there are any other suggestions ?

Game was really intresting from the start,we seen an early goal from Wrexham in the 3rd minute and it stayed like that all the way until the last minute when Cardiff was able to score a goal and snatch a point in the very end. Wrexham after scoring the goal was trying to score off of counter attacks and was really close a lot of times but they were just unlucky. Cardiff pushed the entire match with not many big chances but were able to get a point and avoid defeat in the first match of their season.

I didn't expect that match to end in a draw after how long Wrexham hold on for and the funny thing was that the match given additional time was already exhusted before Cadiff turned the tie, it must have been real painful for the Wrexham fans and players. Since its the beginningof the season, they are going to have a long time to recover and maybe this will be there year to be promoted. That previous post guy @Taricoins but have won tonight as it seems the bet he placed was spot on.

It was really painfull for Wrexham,i seen the coaching staff trying to do everything to close every possible way to the goal and even parked the bus in last 20 minutes but in the end they didnt hold on. If Wrexham continued to attack it would have been a different story because they could have scored for sure,but they ended up choosing to defend and it really backfired for them in the last minute of the game.

Since this is the gambling section of the forum and this is a thread on the EFL English championship I will like to tell my experience from yesterday.
I placed a bet on Cardiff vs Wrexham yesterday, going by last season and how the preseason has gone I was a bit confused on the strength of Wrexham but I ended going for a draw, Wrexham took a first half lead and had the better chance to even get the next goal from their shot on target, I had already giving up it actually took more than 90 minutes before Cardiff equalized the game.

I think this season will be really intrested in the championship i think there are a lot of quality teams in the league and the race currently shows it will be really intense and it is better that all teams have dropped some points. I agree with you i think West Ham will also win the championship this season because they have by far the best team so far.

The Championship is a very tricky league that is not easy to call especially from the beginning of the season. West Ham may be doing very well as a they are sitting at the top of the table if they maintain their two goals lead against Wrexham but behind them is Wesbrom that js also desperate to return to the apex league. So the league is still very tight with so many possibilities, and it will be safer to say that West Ham may return to the Premier League but winning the Championship is not guaranteed.

West Ham looks like the favourite especially with the start they are having, it's not shocking since it's Espirito that's there gaffer, am still surprised he took them down to relegation.

I understand the frustration about teams nor wining, that's how competitive the Championship league has always been and its only going to get worse from here.

Westham is starting the season in a great way by taking all the points they can and placing their team on an advantage ground before the competition in the championship gets to be tougher by the middle of the season. I literally take them to be frontline favourite in winning the championship this season and getting a promotion back to the EPL, it might not be an easy fight against other teams but if Westham can long live their good form to the end of the season then nothing is going to stand between them and the title.

It’s always being a hard to take in on how West Ham United found themselves in the relegation zone last season and consequently the championship this season. They were a relatively stable team but kept loosing games and dropping points. Their performance today against Wrexham was exceptional, they kept the press from the first half right to the second half and didn’t even give Wrexham much opportunities to take a shot at their goal. Only 1 shot on target the whole game while, West Ham United was able to find means to score over 6 goals, all while keeping a clean sheet.

West Hab are kinda looking strong but won’t release that title yet, table can be changed quickly cause championship season is indeed long and consistent, pressure and injuries can change anything.

Majority of the comments in the thread are in favour of the WestHam to win the EFL champions cup and that conviction to that is visible with how WestHam is showing strength and winning all matches it nearly hard to speculate that they will not win the cup. The only obstacle for them will be injuries to their players which they may not be prepared for. But the chance of the WestHam players sustaining injuries and other clubs players not, it is impossible.

West-Ham finishing within the relegation zone in the premier League last season, doesn't mean as they are playing in the championship league this season, that they will eventually remain playing in the championship league, so with the way West-Ham is handling their matches, it seems that they have pick up a challenge upon themselves in this season to be winning almost all their opponents in championship League and probably if they should continue playing with the way they are playing right now, next season is certain for west-Ham to join premier League.

What?! Why you comparing EPL and their 2nd division. And I just remind you that in EPL it's only 4th round, while in Championship teams already played 7 rounds, so, it's normal that there is no undefeated teams left.
West Ham really don't want to stay in Championship for more than season and their big win vs Wrexham is strong statement. Can't wait for next week when they will meet Milwall for the first time since 2012 - it's one of biggest rivalries in England.

This is the reason why I don't like betting on this league because when a new season starts, the best teams from the previous seasons have already crossed to the EPL. So it is very difficult to tell which teams will be worth backing or keeping an eye on until after several games have gone by. During early season phase (like we are now), it is free for all. Genuine title contenders only begin to show midway to the season and up.

That said, if West Ham keep their performance up, they will be back to EPL by next season.
