I've been thinking about this for a while in my head and was like it's time to make the thoughts tangible so to speak- write it down, distill it, and be succinct as possible.

Between trading, purchasing, sale, and goodwill of BTC collectibles- loaded, unloaded, related, and/or themed, I have transacted on 6 of the 7 continents- I've sent to 6, in turn helping promote BTC collectibles.  I'm sure there are many of you that have done the same or similar, perhaps not the same order.

However, there may be some of you that have found and sent to someone in Antarctica as well.  If so, I'm sure there are others, including myself, that would like to know the process and what it takes to spread some BTC cheer to Antarctica, and by virtue promoting BTC collectibles on all 7 continents.  And by chance if no one has hit Antarctica, that's fine too.

Here's where the community can help and play a role:

1)  Finding an Antarctica scientist or support staff.  In terms of "population", it appears the largest station by far is McMurdo Station; therefore, it would seem most efficient to focus efforts here.  Also, McMurdo Station classified as military Army Post Office destinations, meaning UPSP shipping and in turn a significant reduction on shipping costs.  I'm sure further research may be needed to find a scientist or support staff, but here could be a couple of potential starting points:  https://polarnetwork.org/education-and-outreach/polar-pen-pals/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/268093540794150/posts/2104248483845304/

2)  As far as a central point for sending the collectibles to, I'm thinking our esteemed logisticians such as Mopar and MJ.  And, thinking the same as to who will make the package shipment to Antarctica- Mopar and MJ.

Please share your thoughts and inputs, Thx!

I would love to go there and visit - also the only continent I have not set foot upon. I am not sure if it is a place you can just go to visit though.

Also happy to assist with any shipments as needed.

Oh I never really thought about it, but now thinking about it, I am still missing two continents, including Antarctica ofc.

Would be cool but also slightly suprising if anyone has already traded with anyone from there.

What are your plans once contact ist established? I think getting them intererested to buy collectibles will be an even bigger challenge.
If you plan on sending some freebees, I'd be willing to participate, thinking of maybe a roll ob Bitcoin pennies, they are fun to carry in your purse and it's a few items that could be given to more than one person.

Hello! I’m from Argentina and I live very close to the Atlantic Ocean. I have friends who have visited there, but it requires a lot of permits. Flights there can be difficult, and the weather can be dangerous.
I’ve been to Tierra del Fuego several times, and if you ever need me to help get a coin there, I’d be more than happy to help.
When it comes to shipping and packages, it’s much easier to arrange through Argentina national postal services, such as Correo Argentino, etc.

The goal wouldn't be to trade or sell collectibles to anyone there, but rather spreading some BTC goodwill via BTC collectibles, in turn helping promote BTC collectibles and foster our niche space.  And you are correct, the idea would be to send some freebies from those in the community that wish to participate after contact is established.

I could easily toss in some 3d printed items. and I have a lot of signs/coasters/magnets etc similar to the ones below - he (nowastesigns) constantly sends me fresh ones to give away.

Sounds like the ultimate in cold storage.

I once worked with a guy who did research sabbaticals to Antarctica for a couple of weeks/months per year.  I don't think he does it anymore, but I could try to reach out.

Oh this sounds fun! Let me know and I can probably put together a small bundle of low denomination funded bitcoins for people to enjoy and use for trade in Antarctica.

Sounds good Mopar!  Please set some of the 3D printed items aside for inclusion in the package to be sent once we have everything sorted and figured out.  This should be a fun and an interesting project.

Hey hybridsole, hope all has been and is well!  This sounds promising, esp if he still does it and even if not, he may be able to provide some contacts.  Yes, please do try to reach out to him.  Thx Again!

Hi CT, should be fun as it seems this will be its own mini adventure getting to the finish line!  You putting together a small bundle of low denomination funded bitcoins is definitely welcomed and appreciated.

It all sounds interesting. I could donate some **Bitcoin Penny coins, since I have a roll of 20 coins with their holograms. I could ship them from here, as shipping would be more direct.**

Antarctica fascinated me for as long as I remember. The spark came at a very young age and was likely ignited by the candle light I used when reading about the expedition of Roald Amundsen's to the furthest South. It was a dusty old book, like good reads tend to be.
That being said I'd be willing to contribute as well! Maybe some themed items could be created for the occasion, maybe something around the Cold storage concept (pun intended  Tongue).

Being from Argentina certainly would help a lot! Ushuaia being one of the Antarctic gateway cities and the Argentinian Esperanza base being one of the biggest all-year-round bases AFAIK.

How about reaching out to some of the bases there? Draft an initial version, set some clear points and reach out. Worst they could say is no. Some bases are summer only, some are all-year-round though so keep that in mind.

Fantasizing a bit, but maybe even do an Antarctic crypto expedition -- in homage to the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. If there are any sponsors and other people willing to contribute reading this then I would likt to volunteer  Cheesy

I’d be happy to get in touch with someone there, since many of the workers are Argentine. It’s just a matter of coordinating and organizing everything to make something happen. If we manage to secure good funding, we could even travel there ourselves to create some videos or organize a small event. Anything is possible!

Icarus/I would also like to support this great idea from 2stout and we could offer 1-2 Icarus cards for that purpose
in fact, i've already successfully shipped BTC collectibles to 6 continents and like everyone else here, i'm still missing the seventh and final continent (antarctica)

It's great to see the community coming together in such ways. The more people join, the bigger the impact.

An Antarctica themed polymerbit note sounds fantastic.

Creating a list of potential freebees for our freezing friends in faraway Antarctica might be a good idea.
so far we have several makers joining in:
- CT
- polymerbit
- Icarus
- Doblebit

Also 2 different packs of Bitcoin Pennies (DIY by alandelon and regular ones by myself).

Has anyone thought about random social media contact ?
I can imagine a quick search on some platform like Facebook or Instagram you would find some random person/worker that would be happy to help the cause.

Having shipped all over the world, just a random thought of logistics.....alandelon may be in the best position to make sure a package gets there successfully.
But I imagine, once/if there is contact socially, we may be better informed as to how/where to ship this package!!

OP updated with a list of contributors and potential items and also a list for reach outs for potential contacts.  The more the merrier.

First time posting -- so quickly sharing who I am: been in Bitcoin collectibles since 2021 (ex-scarce.city, Bitcoin trading cards, now - CLCT).

I'll actually be in Antarctica in December for ten days. Would love to be part of this!
