Baseball Vs Cricket which one is you pick?

I don't understand a single rule about baseball but it's always fascinates me regarding the baseball and cricket. Both we're getting played by a bat & a ball. But the structure and the rules are totally different.

So I would like to ask you , if you understand both games pretty well which one you seems most enjoyable?

I have no intention of belittling any game. It's has been a curiosity of mine. Although I've watched some youtube videos but didn't like those.

Btw I was watching a match , didn't even know if this one was live or not.

I am in the same boat when it comes to cricket, I don't know the rules or understand a thing when it comes to  the sport. Baseball is my choice, but I am American so not really a shocker. Is cricket entertaining at all? Never really seen it played.

Your confusion is actually quite natural. At first glance, cricket and baseball seem very similar. Both have bat, ball, batter, fielders and run . But the basic gameplay and structure are completely different.

In baseball, if the batter hits from a fixed home plate and goes around four bases and returns to home plate, he will get a run. The pitcher can also throw ball directly. Here, bouncing the ball is not mandatory. A normal MLB game is usually 9 inning. And if the batting team gets 3 outs in every half-inning, their turn will end.

Anyway, I personally enjoy cricket more. Because its strategy is more familiar to me. However, I will not say that baseball is less interesting. Baseball also has a very deep strategy in pitching, batting matchup, bases, outs and decision making according to the situation.

Well, if you are into it, it is. I think whether you like a particular a sport, it depends on culture one grew up in — for Americans like you, baseball is the norm, for countries like India, cricket is the norm and their people choose what they are familiar with.

As for answer to OP, I prefer cricket. It's what I grew up with and it's the only sport I understand well, and too lazy to leave my comfort zone now.

I don't understand baseball but I used to watch reaction channels and saw a pretty good amount of Americans reacting to cricket-related videos. From their impression cricket is harder and cruel purely based on the intensity of the game, and a lot more techniques are involved in it too. Cricket got more reach compared to baseball still, it is not as widely known as soccer.

For information: the USA has a national team and played in the last World Cup.

I know baseball rules, but I absolutely dont know anything about cricket (except that you have to hit the ball with the bat to protect your "sticks or bats that stand"). If I knew both games, I think my pick will depends on what I want; 1) for betting I would choose cricket as I think there are more countries playing it, that means there would be more games to bet 2) for entertainment - hard to answer as I dont know cricket rules. However baseball looks like a slow game, I think that might have an impact on its entertaining part.

I think I have seen clips of both games, although when it comes to knowledge about both of them, I am quite ignorant.

i have seen baseball being played in movies and also some YouTube clips, and it looked kinda interesting, but not so much that it would make me want to go and learn about it.

If I am to choose, with the level of knowledge I have between them (or we could say the level of ignorance), it would be baseball, simply because I have seen the game being played in movies.

 I barely bet on any so i find it tough to pick which is preferable, it's not even wise to bet on something you have no knowledge about else it would increase your chances of losing cause you'll mostly lose than win if you try to be consistent on it except it's just a lucky first trial then you switch to what you understand better.
 The sports i enjoy betting on are football, basketball and tennis, i understand their rules so analysing their games is not very difficult for me although i mostly win from betting on football games than the rest.

For someone who do not fully understand both games just like me, cricket is more fun in my opinion. I am quite reluctant to watch both games from my DSTV cable but I do tune in sometimes. I feel the rules in baseball are much more complicated to understand when compared to cricket. Atleast I could easily understand that in cricket, if the batter misses and the ball strikes the wicket and the bail falls, the batter is out.

Whereas in baseball I can't even see any wicket behind the batter. I also observed that in baseball, the batter cannot hit the ball to all directions in the field, else it is considered as foul. I mean these set of rules are quite complicated when compared to that of cricket.

I have no pick from either sport, i know absolutely nothing about either of them and i have never watched a game of Cricket or Baseball. It is only Football for me, Tennis is a distant second and maybe basketball in third. The sport we follow has a lot to do with the culture in the region where we grew up and our interests too as well, just as Indians are crazy about Cricket.

I’m a lover of cricket, but I must confess that I don’t understand how baseball is played, I was playing cricket in my high school days, I was a very good player I think I would’ve been a cricket player if I had the opportunity to pursue a career in cricket, we were playing games with other schools, there was a popular school that always carries the Championship, but I and my team had to challenge them to get that trophy high school games, I would’ve loved to learn more about baseball if I had the opportunity to know more about the sport, because baseball is also a sport some individuals are going to tell you it’s their favorite sports.

As a Bangladeshi I would definitely choose cricket. Because cricket is not just a game here, I grew up playing cricket in the neighborhood or on the street since childhood, Cricket is so popular in Bangladesh that almost everyone is familiar with the game in some way or the other. Baseball also seems interesting to me but as a non baseball fan, I have to learn a lot of new things to understand baseball, where the rules of cricket scoring and match situations are much more familiar. So in addition to entertainment ,there is also an emotional connection to watching a match in your own country. The moments of today's Bangladesh vs Australia Test victory show why cricket is so special to us.

Cricket is also entertaining, if you enjoy the matches with attention. Not all cricket matches are entertaining, like Tests and ODIs, which last for a minimum of one day to a few days. Test matches are particularly boring to me, because they have to be played for a minimum of three days. However, T20 and T10 matches are entertaining, because the matches are over in a short time.

I'm quite ignorant myself to learn about baseball and cricket, I do see their clips on sports channels but I'm always too lazy to follow up and seriously learn about either of them but from my little understanding about the both I think that cricket is more complex to understand than baseball, ofcourse cricket fans would disagree with my opinion which is normal. I've never watched any of their live games before but I've seen more baseball games in movie scenes and that is as far as my experience goes with the sport so from that angle I would say that I like baseball better than cricket because the movies makes the sport  to look very interesting. The two sports are not popular in Africa, i don't know if any African countries have either of their leagues.

What I think is that baseball is more relevant. I hardly know anything about cricket and haven't seen any matches; I don't understand it much. Since I've been in the USA, I mostly watch soccer and baseball. Here, there are more fans of baseball than of any other sport, that's what I've seen.

There's also a considerable number of cricket fans here on the forum, but there are more of them for soccer. But between baseball and cricket, I prefer baseball. Besides, baseball involves a lot of money, betting, and the players themselves earn quite well.

Still not familiar with cricket but it's not too late to know even the basics of it.

Whilst for baseball, I've grown up watching those sports anime which are in baseball. And that's why even with the little knowledge, I've got an idea about it.

That's why for the choice of two, it's an easy pick for me. I'd go with baseball and I've got more athletes that I know there than with the cricket.

Two gamblers or two spectators can understand the two games equally and still have different choices because sometimes understanding does not influence preference.

The most enjoyable between the two options will be different for any two gamblers in most cases because each gambler knows exactly what he or she wants except you are among the immature gamblers who are oblivious of their actions and are simply just living a roller coaster life like everything dun dey okay

I don't think I can make a choice here because I see both games having same pattern and to me it isn't really a popular choice of games to just watch in my part of the world right now. I mean we can discuss football with almost just anyone when we want to strike a conversation with someone familiar or a total stranger, but baseball or cricket, they just look at you like crazy...no idea.

If however I find myself in a situation where I have to make a compulsory choice to place a bet on, I think the odds might just be what would make up my mind on which side to pick, because I sure as hell don't know any of the players or their capabilities or the team strengths or even the rules of the game between baseball and cricket.

It's may look like that cause cricket is played in nations which are hugely populated. But, in reality, it's nowhere close to popularity of soccer

Cricket has format which is played for 5 days (game can end early though) —  6 hours a day, which is called, 'test'.

It looks like you only know surface level cricket, it goes much deeper than, 'ball hitting wicket and batter is out'.

If I should be watching people playing it, basket ball is more fun to me than cricket while watching the players playing it. But if I should learn one and be playing it for fun, I will prefer to go for cricket because it is not as stressful as basketball. If it is about betting, I will prefer to bet on basketball and I have not bet on cricket before. I do not even know how to play cricket and I do not know the rules.
