Baseball Vs Cricket which one is you pick?

Cricket in the Philippines isn't known, if you ask kids who likes sports probably those who are quite well in life are familiar with it. Even I, as I've grown older I only used to see it being played in the movies and haven't seen an actual competition played in the usual news or sports channel because we're a basketball and volleyball country.

Baseball can be slow at times but at least home runs make it exciting

If this is the case, now I understand why it's not adopted early in my country because of long games. Because our attention span isn't that long and let alone with the technology and doom scrolling, it's even shorter. I'm choosing baseball too, in fact it's one of the games that I have installed in my old phone.

When it comes to sports I prefer something that has a little liveliness to it and suspense as well and when this is the feeling I get from watching games like rugby, soccer, basketball and boxing. I watch sport channels and I usually come across baseball and cricket, including ice hockey as well but I don't really have any interest in these games because I consider them to be very dull, I don't think everyone has the same thoughts about these games but that's just the way I see them. In conclusion I don't really pick anyone between them. In my country these games are not even that common and bettors don't really bet on any of them.

There's no doubt cricket and baseball both are interesting game but i would like to go for cricket. As i know most of the rules of it which makes it easy for me to understand and i can enjoy it better. It's true that both sports looks similar at a glance and you may enjoy any game but when you can understand a game properly then that'll be more exciting for you. Actually our choice is depends on what we are grew up watching and most popular around us. Someone who watching baseball from childhood, cricket may seem confusing to him. Well for me, i aware about baseball a little but i love to watch cricket

However very few countries actually play cricket even today, India being one of them which is one of the most popular games in the country. For them there is no such thing as baseball. Opposite for the American population.

Still choice is of the player what they want to gamble on. People who have played cricket in their childhod would wish to gamble on cricket only, because they never got a chance to play baseball.

Interest is the most important factor here. When the interest towards a particular game is there everything seems more nice and entertaining but in the absent of it, there is no way it can work. Personally, I don't have any interest in any of those two games and that's the more reason I can barely choice them.  What I do is football sports games, it's a common sport that's very easy to understand by everybody. Therefore, patronizing what (a game I can't comprehend)  I don't know is some kind of throwing away my fund's which I wouldn't do.

I don't have personal experience with this since I have not purchased a ticket for test match (only in this format matches are played over several days), but Google search tells me, tickets can be purchased for each individual day or for whole match (i.e. 5 days).

Lol,  5 days long match? That is insane How come players stay focused for so long (even if match last few hours a day, and they they meet next day). There are so much thing that might happen to players when "they are not in game, but game is still running". 5 days you say... Does it mean they have or might have different lineups for each day? Or it enough time for players to rest? They more I find out about cricket, the more I want to learn its rules, and the more I lean to picking cricket

That is also what happens to me. For reasons of availability in my country I have not had access to this sport in my childhood, and today although I can enjoy it the same thing happens to me as with many others, which because I did not know them at the time now it is complicated for me, but knowing these curiosities awakens an interest in me that I didn't know I could have.

I've always thought about cricket like some kind of mix between baseball and golf/hockey, but now that I'm getting a little more interested lately, I see that it's a much more technically interesting sport.

I've watched baseball matches, read the rules and observed the gameplay couple of times without it driving my interest for real, so in the end, I can't really tell you I understand anything they're doing there. It's kind of boring to me. I think it's about my environment, here in my country, the only game that's played with a stick that's a bit common is golf. I can't remember seeing any baseball or cricket event ever here around here and that's why it doesn't resonate with me at all, I've found myself falling asleep several times while watching the two games.

I like baseball and I also understand the rules ,unlike cricket I don't understand it ,probably because I don't like it and I do not pay attention to it ,and I feel this games has a countries where their preference differs ,there are places where the cricket is mostly liked and been played unlike other places,but talking from an individual perspective,I choose and prefer baseball, not that one is better than the other,it's just about the matter of choice and preference.

I guess I already answered this question before, but not here on bitcointalk. I think it was on discord server. My answer is still the same: baseball.
I chose baseball because I’ve never actually experienced playing cricket. It’s not really popular here in the Philippines, and I don’t really know how to play it. I do watch cricket sometimes because I bet on it, but that’s very rare like usually only when I have some Indian friends in the chat and we’re just having fun placing small bets.

I’ve never seen anyone playing cricket here in the Philippines.

Myself I really do not find them interesting even when watching I still do not understand it because I pay less attention to the game, I wonder how people actually enjoy it maybe because in my side it is not common the most common sport games in my area are football and golf and aside in TV show and the Internet I have not watched a live baseball and cricket before I guess that is the reason it seems boring to me too, in places where it is common I am sure it is very fun to them, I can not pick anyone as my best because to me both games seems similar to me but a bit different from the other I will try paying attention to the games so I can understand what it is actually all about and the difference between both.

I know that some people that might have to decided for either of these already have an experience on how it is been played, while for someone who is completely a novice like me will not try to play it except I just want to risk it or play to have fun in doing so, there is no doubt that there are similar to each other in terms of the way it is being played, but they are rules and strategy are quite different.

I am in the same boat when it comes to cricket, I don't know the rules or understand a thing when it comes to  the sport. Baseball is my choice, but I am American so not really a shocker. Is cricket entertaining at all? Never really seen it played.

It is because of the regional bias where we grew up. I have not seen a single baseball game live in my entire life, while we literally played all the other sports on a daily basis. As kids, you didn't need much space to play with improvised rules, be it cricket, football, badminton or volleyball.

The only time I played Baseball during the rainy season, simply because you cannot play in wet grounds while growing up, was on Sega Genesis cartridge video games, where the graphics were really good for the 90s and I would imagine playing cricket while actually playing World Series Baseball or Triple Play Series cartridge games.

I will not really say anyone is better than the other because we all have preference. They are similar... more like cousins .. from the little games that I've watch on the two, I will say that baseball has like a more tactical approach that is more present and gives more quick engagement action while cricket has much slower pace and the build up is usually longer in terms of tactics .

I disagree (though, I accept that I don't have any idea about baseball whatsoever). In cricket, from bowler's perspective, on every ball new strategy is deployed like field setting, the bowl bowler is gonna bowl or it could be set-up through the various deliveries to end with the intended one to to confuse the batter.

From the batter's perspective too there are different tactics according to situation the team is in; cricket goes deeper than what meets the eye.

Well, whichever team loses focus, they put themselves into disadvantage.

No. Lineups stay same. As for rest period, players have 2 breaks during the play— 40 minutes lunch break, and 20  minutes tea break.

If they add a 30-60min nap it would be a perfect sport for me There are breaks between rounds and period, but I have never heard that there are breaks to eat and a tea break lol. That is so strange. For me watching sport at stadium was always a entertainment with snacks and drinks. I always felt sorry for those who play under sun at hot day, and all they can do is to take few sips of water because game was running and they had no time for more. Turn out cricket players can have a full meal. VIP most probably have chances to have meal and tea with players during the game. Now I am even more pumped to learn game rules and watch it

P.S. I have learned baseball by playing it on SNES. Had cartridge 99-in-1 with this game. Used to play it when got bored with other cool games

International cricket is split into three main formats, each format has its own pacing.

Test Matches go on for five days, giving both sides two innings to bat. If nobody clinches a win by the final evening, it's a draw. Because it's a marathon, players get a solid 40 minutes for lunch, 20 minutes for afternoon tea, and brief drink intervals throughout the day.

ODIs (One Day Internationals) each team gets 50 overs each. These games wrap up with a clear winner since actual ties are incredibly rare. There will be a 45 min innings break and the match usually last around 7 to 8 hours total.

T20 is the shortest as it is just 20-over per side and it is fast paced game. Innings break is  a 20-minute break between innings, the entire game completes in roughly three and a half hours.

Like I mentioned earlier regarding the different formats, one thing is definitely not possible during a game—you can't actually interact or have lunch with the players while the match is running. The anti-corruption rules are crazy strict once a game kicks off. Players are completely cut off from the outside world. Even though VIPs get elite suites and high-end menus, meeting the players is out of the question until the match actually finishes.

I still remember the trick ball where you press the key continuously and the only reference are those cartridge games.
