According to a popular saying in my region, "common sense is not common for everyone". This was unnecessary, this was avoidable dead. How could someone bet to carry 4 bags of cement? And that is 200KG. How much was the bet that he has lost his life. Though I have seen different kind gambling in the local communities. Mostly eating biscuits without drinking water and that is another deadly betting which I will not partake.

This young man broke his spinal cord after lifting the 200KG cement/4 bags and was rush to hospital and died in the hospital after some days. We should avoid this kind of careless gambling. Assuming he won the bet, he is still at the losing side. He he didn't use the money or probably to treat himself. There are some gambling we thought it is for fun but there just careless and unnecessary to involve.

In my opinion, the biggest lesson here is risk assessment. Just because professional weightlifters can lift 200kg means that an untrained person can do it, it is not any logical comparison.

Why would they even agree to this the first place , Carrol’s 4 bags of cement at once is crazy. Especially when your body is not used to carrying heavy object that weigh that much . And another problem is the way he lift it , the method alone as already assured that is not going to end well , you guys are really taken betting too far, is like he staked his life to win a certain reward. Something that is as common as sense, yet some people couldn't still understand it.  There was no point in taking up that challenge knowing fully well that he couldn't carry four bags of cements.  I know things are hard in the country, but doing what is beyond your power just to make money is foolishness.  I did a quick research, to see if I can find the amount that was placed but I couldn't find it.  People should better think twice before accepting some dangerous challenges, because for me no amount of money is worth risking your  life.

There is a risk of losing money through gambling, it is normal, but gambling with your life is absolutely not right, it is completely crazy. Is this something to bet on? I really don't know. A healthy person would never bet on something that could result in a loss of life. Gambling is certainly for entertainment, but if there is a possibility of death while having fun, it is best not to do it. If you lose money through gambling, it may be possible to gradually recover it, but once your life is gone, it is never possible to get it back, so we need to be aware and distance ourselves from such bets.

The kind of activities which some people think of betting on is very alarming and should even be punished for reasoning that way. I don't even know where to start, whether I should call the man a fool or call his friends fools for actually allowing him to try such a thing. I have seen people carry two bags, but I don't think I have seen the one of four bags before.

By the way, why would you put your friend or someone you call your friend, through such stress before you give him what you intend to give him? People ought to realise that there are things that they should never even attempt, and as long as it puts their life at risk or their wellbeing, then they should avoid such an event.

I guess this victim thought he was Thor or Hulk; that's why he agreed to this bet. Obviously, this is a very reckless bet because what's more important than his life?
All the suspects and the opposing bettors should be arrested and charged so that they won't try such a thing somewhere else in the future.

There are many other insane and dangerous local betting patterns out there which, of course, take people's lives, and most of them the authorities are taking action to stop, but the participants are still doing the same things. I don't even know what generation we really are right, people are taking a very dangerous risk just to prove one point.
Before I forget, what's the prize at stake? Because it will be very bad if the prize isn't worth the risk.

When I read some news like this, I always wonder if the reason why some people take this type of risk is because of the money or because they just want to prove a point and keep their pride intact. I just don't understand what really tempts some people that they don't even think of their life for once at least give it a second thought what if my body can't carry this etc.

Betting on what they can do, I know that it's a common with friends or co-workers in a construction site. But that victim, sorry for the loss of his family, shouldn't do that if he's possibly not carrying that much weight. I guess that it's just out of the bet and he's not really doing that at all.
