It's hard to comment anything about this, because it's a totally absurd situation. It's the kind of dumb challenge people do on the internet for views, and some end in tragedies... Ironically, if that man was working, carrying one bag of cement at once as a laborer, he wouldn't have died that ridiculous way.

Instead of chasing easy money/gadgets through gambling, people should be focusing on working their way to financial success in more conservative ways, even though it doesn't sound exciting.

This is really insane, I wounder what amount that triggered him to accept this type of bet. I can't just believe that some people don't value their life, emagine gambling your life with a 4 bags of cement to lift, knowing that each bag weigh atleast  +/ - 50kg for each bag of cement, totalling of 200kg . Now he has passed on for what could have been avoided. We should learn from This type of act. People can gamble on ordinary thing but anyone that involves the treath to life should be totally avoided. Owch this would have been an extremely painful injury and death.   I personally would not have guessed it would be lethal in this way but he pushed himself too hard, if it was proper weightlifting in a gym he might have been ok still or suffered a survivable injury only.
   Bets like this can be a kind of taunting someone, macho male ego wont let the person back down in front of a crowd and he dies in a stupid risk he knows is too far for much too little reason.  If he was was trying to save life it might have some sense perhaps but just some ego bet, I will always opt to take the loss and be happy to walk away from stupid bets.   Easy to say but harder to do also.

This is just a careless act by the person and lessons like this are most times thought the hard way. He could have still have his life but with the breaking of the spinal cord, he’ll be paralyzed for life and even the money he bet on cannot actually be okay for him, to fit to take care of him for the remaining times in his life. Such a horrible news which had also reminded me about group of friends who actually went bet on who among them could finish a 750ml of 3 bottles of 45% alcoholic.

It could be a cultural games or challenge or bet if we can call it that way. Perhaps the man thinks that he can obviously do it. But many things can happen like what we have seen it here. His mind is saying he can do it, but his body can't.

I wouldn't say it's gambling per se, it's more of a challenge that's why it's very dangerous. In my opinion, the biggest lesson here is risk assessment. Just because professional weightlifters can lift 200kg means that an untrained person can do it, it is not any logical comparison.

That was a challenge bet maybe they were making some argument probably he could see someone lifting it without knowing the secret or how often the person has train for it and he decided to try it without any second thought, such argument sometimes starts this way, Mr A will say i can take on four bags of cement while Mr B says no you can't from there they can place a bet on it if he lift it he won and if he can't he loss and it's unfortunate that he also lost his life on the process.

There is a limit to what the body can carry and when you put too much on your back you can end up getting paralyzed. How much was the bet you asked? I will predict that it will just be around $5-$10 or maybe $15 at most. I mean the news is from Nigeria and for them, that's already a huge amount.

Sorry for the word, but it's a very stupid way to end your life. Lifting 4 bags of cement for more or less $10 worth of bet? This is the reason why before we make a decision in life, we should think twice of thrice of the possible consequences that we could face. I feel sorry for the one who died, but I wonder what pushed him though to do that thing.
