I think banning gambling ads is a positive step to prevent young people from gambling because ads is the first step where people see about gambling. Then free spins and exclusive deposit bonuses draw their attention and make them visit the website for gambling. Although banning isn't the solution cause gamblers will find gambling platforms through website or other channels. So better for government to focus on age verification, action against illegal platform and ensure awareness as they already got lots of tax from gambling. So many double on it whether the government able to enforce the law properly even after passing the bill.

Speaking of bonus, they offer enticing bonus in this ads, it reminds me of the gambling ads that always pop up on my page in social media this ads are unavoidable because they are just everywhere in the Internet, I believe if this initiative works out at least such ads will not be flying about on social media, and it has a negative impact on young people because of the bonuses it offers they will be tempted to play just to get the offer, I have been tempted several times by those ads but I am glad I was able to resist. Banning gambling ads will alone will not still prevent gambling addiction nor stop people from gambling rather awareness to young people on the danger involved in gambling at a young age will help.

Even though they ban gambling ads, it not a guarantee that people will stop gambling, gambling addicts will still gamble and pass information between themselves but it will help younger ones who might likely get influenced by most of this ads to start gambling to stay out of it.

This will reduce the awareness of gambling site more especially for new casinos, because ads are one of the easiest means people get to know more of this gambling sites, it might also reduce income for gambling sites, so for that aspect it might be an issue but regardless people will still gamble.
It's obvious that such things are not done to save addicted gamblers from gambling because it's surely not going to work in that case, such measures are taken only to save the rest of the people from turning into gamblers, and it's not only about the youngsters, it's about everyone who are not currently into gambling but if promotions and advertisements continue and reach them on a daily basis, the chances of them also getting involved into gambling will increase, and they probably don't want that.

Philippines is not the only country that is considering such a thing, because if I remember correctly, I read about Australia doing something similar some time ago, I think they were also thinking of banning casino promotions and advertisements online, or maybe even banning them completely within the country because the percentage of people losing money in gambling was increasing rapidly and had reached a very high number, and the government wanted to control that.

One could argue that the government shouldn't have a problem with this because they can get more money through taxes, but governments that care about their people, they do care.

We also face the same increase in the poor using their small returns for gambling in my country. Many gamblers would switch to unlicensed casinos when the government comes up with some stringent restrictions.
Phenomena like that happen in almost every country, even in countries that ban gambling. Online gambling activities can still be done illegally. Even though there are bigger risks, like fines and criminal charges, in reality gamblers always do it to make money from luck.

If the Philippine government has strategic steps and implements them gradually to reduce gambling addiction there, it could be effective. But if all they do is block ads on TV or social media, that step might not be effective enough.
Gambling addiction is becoming a big problem in so many countries and this is why we have been seeing countries trying their possible strategies to reduce addiction from their citizens. Addiction is dangerous especially whyen it involves activities that can make us financially unstable. I have seen other addictions that have been helping people become financially stable and able to work through financial and metal success and it can be a disaster when addiction is involved in gambling. There are other countries that are also working their way to reduce gambling addiction due to the complaints they have been getting.

Maybe they are trying to stop gambling addiction, but entirely eliminating gambling is not going to be easy ,which I think it's not really going to be possible, social media is a broad community,so putting a stop to advert won't make some persons stop ,they will always look for a way out to gamble ,so I don't see banning gambling ads as the best way to reduce it , gambling addiction is very dangerous especially to ones mental health, but most times I ask myself will there be an end to this gambling addiction.

This is a very good decision and thought, that is, the government knows that gambling spoils many things and to control it, its tendency has to be reduced and the government is paying full attention to it. But as I have said before, the government as well as other people whom it has ordered to eliminate this thing do not allow it to be eliminated by taking bribes. It is actually difficult to eliminate the addiction to gambling, but when we understand ourselves and value money and do not spoil the environment of our home, we can retreat from gambling. That is why many people also promote it and lure it, by which they think that we can earn good profits by investing a little money and start considering this thing as a job. In my opinion, its eradication will not be completed because people are very interested in earning money and quick money can be earned only from second digit numbers, but its eradication is very important.

Is it gambling addiction that is the worst people could ever got exposure to on the social media? Are there no other addictions people are used to outside the context of gambling, government cannot relate or do anything to help with such situation than to always fight against gambling promotion, maybe they should understand that gambling adds does not impose arm the way other things being advertised online causing serious addictions on people.

So do you think this will actually pass or is it already too late?

You can also share what is happening in your country if you have a similar situation.
I don't live in Philippine so I won't know how bad the gambling rate over there is right now, but one thing is certain: they are also among the top countries with active gamblers.
However, since the gambling rate over there is high, the authorities can not fully stop people from gambling; even though they are doing all these things, the damage has already been done. It might only prevent some of the upcoming generation from gambling.
On the other side it seems like the authorities are just doing this, but they don't really mean to stop people from gambling. Based on what you already said, those with the upper hand might not be affected because they have connections with the higher authority, which means they might promote their business few few platforms

As far as I know, the gambling problem in the Philippines is already very serious, especially since the previous president was so supportive of POGOs, which made the Philippine gambling industry even more flourish.. although Marcos Jr. has taken various measures to mitigate the impact of the gambling industry, bolder steps are still needed to ban gambling advertising on all platforms to reduce more people's exposure to gambling.

but because the gambling industry is so entrenched and has such a wide network in the Philippines, this will certainly face opposition from local politicians and the mafia who still have business interests in the gambling industry.. don't know if the bill will pass, but at least there are officials who have the courage to voice their opinions on this issue.

You forgot to include people that are going to be jobless after this measures. In as much as the government want to reduce gambling activities, they are going to take away jobs and food from many people's mouth. You can't banned people of their earning means when you don't have another means for them. Some billboard makes an income from most of these gamblings, the TV stations makes money as well, even the government makes money from it because they collect tax.

If they finally closed this door for people, they will kill many peoples earning but you know how stubborn some gamblers can be, even if they banned people from gambling completely from the country, they will not stop gambling, they will continue to gamble through other means. It will be like it's the government that loss at last. They may be able to stop gambling within the country but outsiders will bring service to them and they will do it better to restore confidence in the people.

We still have other things that have been shown online and people usually get addicted to it and it causes problems to the society for example, porn.

One of the causes of rape in the society is because of porn, when some young people watch porn and they don’t have someone to practice it with, they look for a way to practice it and they can even rape someone in order to practice it. Why does the government not go after those people showing porn online or don’t they see it as something that can also affect the society in a very bad way.

There are so many things that can cause a lot of harm to the society that the government should also look at them. I’m not saying that the government are actually wrong in what they are about to do, but I think they should consider it in another way.

They’re trying to do something good but same time it will still cause am , those casinos are someone’s source of income and banning ads will slow down their business. Same time save some young ones but the truth is that many will still find ways to gamble , especially someone with peers that are into gambling too . Banning ads may reduce gambling addiction to some extent but won’t stop it there many will still remain addicted , and some folks were already gambling before the banned was implemented .

If gambling addiction becomes an epidemic, the government must take steps to control it. If the government bans gambling advertisements by law, I think they have taken the right decision. Although such a decision should have been taken earlier in the country, if they are careful about this from now, a big disaster can be avoided in the future. If gambling advertisements are always seen in the national media or social media, then it should be understood that people are being lured into gambling there. If it is controlled, then there is no problem, but those who are young will never be able to control it. Therefore, all types of direct gambling advertisements should be stopped. There is no need to attract those who gamble through advertisements. If the gambling business expands through advertisements, then if it cannot be controlled, disaster may be fall on the common people of that country.

Perhaps the government should look at the people that are responsible for gambling adverts, maybe that will make everything better and not act like who don't know how the adverts are done. Sometimes, even the gambling casinos are innocent of the things they in their country, it's the influencers that are greedy with the way adverts are done, they collect money to mislead people, they are only after what they can get and don't care about the consequences.

We have plenty of influencers in Nigeria that are doing worse that can make the government act with their behavior but I guess even them does not care that's why they are making adverts like they have nothing to promote again except their promo code. You can't even watch comedy, short contents without one gambling adverts, it's either use my promo code on X casino and win % bonus or bet on some platform for reliable odd, I'm tired of their boring repeated ads.

This step has been taken to free the common man from gambling addiction. It is absolutely true that the impact of gambling can be reduced by stopping gambling advertisements, but I really do not know whether it will be possible to completely eradicate it. I must say that this is a good initiative, because the government wants the people of the country and the future generations to protect themselves from the terrible destruction of gambling and enjoy a healthy normal life. A gambler faces addiction through gambling. It completely depends on the activities of the gambler, since the gambler cannot control his greed and gambles, so the person becomes addicted through gambling. It is true that it is not possible to completely free oneself from gambling addiction.

They are actually against POGO's since these operators are not licensed to operating in the Philippines and they are cracking down into those who had been operating on which knowing that you would be needing up to be taxed when you do make out some operation. Now they are even promoting their own gambling platforms on which it is actually that rampant when it comes into ads. Come to think that they've been tracking down into those influencers who do make out some ads with those unregistered casinos that they were promoting and thats really something shows that they dont really want to missed out when it comes on getting those taxes. Well, its understandable though.

From the news, they are not trying to stop gambling completely, at least not from the bill which was proposed and submitted for reading. What they are just focused on is to eliminate anything that has to do with gambling ads, which could be to reduce how much people are exposed to gambling, as for those who are addicted to gambling this won’t help them much as they still have access to their favourite casino they use for gambling.

The government of Philippines may not get instant results now but trust me if they maintain their stand in banning all form of gambling ads on every social media platform they will achieve good results and the kids will no longer be exposed to early gambling because most if them get attracted from the ads they watch on social media platformw. Those who are already addicted will not stop but the intending ones who will be lured into gambling will no longer be seeing the ads and this will reduce the number of gamblers in the country. If the gambling companies are not getting more customers from the ads  they pay for they won't be pushing it everywhere so it's going to reduce more visibility they will be getting.

Maybe they do but, the real score here is that there's a lot of it so they want to decrease the competition. While it's a serious problem that there are a lot of gambling addicts from poorest of the poor to middle class and they don't even know how to invest. They think that gambling is investing and so, this is a plus points to the senator but it won't happen quickly. They're so busy with a lot of things into creation of law and investigations, hearings and wastes so much time to it instead of focusing into making it as a law. So this proposal is only about the gambling ads and not to entirely ban gambling at all because the sponsorship of legal and illegal casinos in social media is rampant.

The question is not whether this ban on gambling in India is right or not, but what means of compliance we have from the government, because this kind of policy can only work well when the government put in efforts outside the paper news, enforcement of compliance os very important in this regard, because the negative impact of gambling addiction on many Indian lately as recorded, is quite alarming.
