The government has to carry out several policies at once. And I’m sure there’s a big consideration the government is facing.

A Senate bill wants a nationwide ban on online gambling ads across all media platforms, so that probably means TV, social media and other online platforms. So what's really happening in the Philippines now? They make the problem worse first before making this kind of measure. I wonder if it's just for show because it's not really preventing the problem, it's more like showing that they are doing their job to protect people even though the damage has already been done. And to think this is still just a bill. If there are powerful people supporting big casino operators, then maybe it will not be that easy to pass. So do you think this will actually pass or is it already too late? You can also share what is happening in your country if you have a similar situation. They will not be able to overcome all online gambling advertising, even in their own locale, because it is too difficult, and it is enough for only one gambling promoter to want to advertise and send it to the Filipinos, as it will be difficult for the state to figure it out and prevent it from promoting advertising. But in general, this is a good initiative and I would like the state where I live to also have measures to counter gambling advertising, but unfortunately the state is the main owner of gambling and therefore there are a lot of advertisements on the streets of the city and people are already collecting signatures for a petition to reduce the number of advertising banners. I am glad for the Philippines that there is a counteraction to gambling and gambling.

If they succeed in passing the Law, then it will really help reduce how people gamble over their however it will not stop people from gambling. Many of them already know a lot of casinos and they will be sharing the information to others. We have a lot of Philippine people in this forum and they see a lot of casinos through this forum and other forum, so it’s actually impossible to stop them from gambling.
I think there government, should also focus on providing jobs for there citizens, I mean very good and well paid jobs, I believe it will help more than this action they want to take.
That's just the simple truth about it, because it will be very hard to stop the ones that have been in the game, because they already knows how to maneuver without anyone knowing if they are still in the game or not. So I think it's something that cannot be stopped permanently. Rather, it will definitely prevent them from going deeper in gambling, because they wouldn't gamble openly anymore, because they wouldn't to disobey the law.

It's not going to prevent people from looking for gambling and promoting it. Only education can avoid the problem. The government isn't concerned about the solution for gambling addiction, rather they are concerned about their personal image towards the public.
If they were concerned about the population for real, they would launch their own advertisement campaigns teaching people about the dangers and risks of gambling, how the outcomes are selected and why it's not possible to turn gambling into a money making method.
I honestly agree with you, this would have been like a good strategy to use to avoid people there from gambling rather than only wanting to ban gambling ads. Most people don’t really know the dangers of gambling or how bad it can affect or is affecting them. coming up with the launch of advertisements about the risk of gambling will really deviate minds from wanting to gamble, more especially for persons who haven’t gambled before and young ones coming up.

I think you guys are missing the major reason behind the step taken by the Philippine government; the major reason is not to ban gambling but to prevent an illegal nd offshore gambling market. According to my understanding, the Philippine government is concerned with citizen safety and the taxation of gambling platforms, which i believe is normal; there are a lot of shady gambling platforms going on in the Southeast Asian market..

I wouldn't emphasize much on banned not achieving it purpose without knowing purpose and area the government banned the gambling. But focusing on how ban will work, and become effective is when that which makes the citizens to gamble is completely eradicated through education. Rehabilitation and others means of cutting down gambling addiction, gambling banned don't stopped or take effect by mere or verbal words but through action because gambler mindset and brain is what leads the action until the mindset and such reasoning is killed through knowledge it's impossible to stopped. The major reason most gambler persist either by hiding or openly in gambling despite banned is the idea or knowledge towards gambling is not eradicated .

One thing about human beings is that we adapt very quickly. There will always be ways for people to bypass restrictions, even if the government decides to completely ban gambling in the country. It may be illegal, but people will still find ways to gamble secretly. Governments in every country try their best to stop activities that they believe are harming many young people. I have said this before, unless there is a way to completely eliminate gambling, many of these restrictions may not be very effective. One way or another, people will still find ways to gamble. I think more focus should be placed on preventing gambling addiction and underage gambling. I don't see how removing gambling ads from social media would solve the bigger problem.

Even if the goal is to reduce exposure to gambling and/or addiction, I don't think banning advertisements will prevent someone from gambling or "cure" someone who is already addicted. What I find problematic is that children watch the games Banning gambling advertisements might not necessarily cure someone who is already addicted, but it could prevent non gamblers from becoming addicted due to the misleading ads that they might have come across. Since the banning includes all social media, her citizens can not see gambling ads through their social media platforms and TV channels, it will help greatly prevent many individuals from becoming addictes since the major cause of the problem is probably because of the so many ads her citizens see online. This measure might not prevent people from gambling, but it is before said that some ads makes gambling looks likes a get rich quick source of income and that has made most people become addicted, so if the ads is banned, others might stop seeing things the way they do and it could reduce the rate of addiction. I do not think is bad for children to watch the game but what I find problematic is how some parents doesn't pay attention to what their kids do afterwards.

I don't believe this, illegal gambling will still be available but there will be peak FEAR, if they are going to implement this there will be some tough rules backing it up, you should know the kind of punishment you will get if you gamble. South Koreans have the most cruel punishment for gambling illegally, it's just one of those ways that works, same thing must be done if truly they want to control illegal gambling. No fine will be allowed, prison straight when you are caught, this will scare the shit out of everyone and the idea of gambling illegally will slow down even if somehow it's still existing.

Banning gambling adds is one thing another thing is proper implementation of this ban. To some extent it will affect gambling very well and even make some who would become gambler not to be. But then it has nothing to do with stopping people from becoming addicted but such ban can reduce the intensity at which people get addicted. After all, some few years back adds wasn't so much on the internet yet gambling was happening ruthlessly.

I guess they are really serious with this. Imagine getting jailed just because of gambling when you only wanted some entertainment, then suddenly you end up in prison. No one in their right mind would want to take that risk, except maybe those who are already seriously addicted. So I think this could really discourage a lot of people from gambling. It might not completely eliminate it, but the impact could be huge and a large number of people would probably stop.

Yes, it will help to reduce gambling addictions and it will help discourage people who have not gamble before not to go into gambling. I think that the government are aware that this bill if signed into law cannot stop people in the country not to gamble. Trust me people will figure out a way to gamble so it will be a waste of time if the government are trying to stop people from gambling. Regarding providing jobs for their citizens,I think will help to an extend but it will not make people not to gamble.

I dont think removing the advertising has any effect on those who are already addicted, it might do some good to those who are playing and eventually are at risk of getting addicted. Like a primary prevention of a disease.
However these type of bans are nothing new. Those who want to and wish to gamble will always find methods to play either online or offline.
What the government eventually should do is control the underage people from gambling and raise awareness about gambling addiction in college and university level.
Either way the thing to see now is whether the battle between casino owners and casino haters tilts towards which direction.

Banning advertisment won't stop them from gambling ball they did was turn of physical platforms from actually operating. Not online platform. If only they can focus on the root cause and tackle it once and for all, instead of beating around the bush running in circles and not doing that needs to be done. Another issue they might encounter is enforcing such bill. Passing it is another thing, enforcing it one major thing.

In doubt this is the case,. Did a quick search on cases for this year alone and found this SEOUL: South Korean police have arrested 2,319 people in a major cyber gambling crackdown targeting illegal online operators.
The operation increases pressure on gambling networks that process large volumes of online bets and move suspects or proceeds across borders.
The National Police Agency’s National Office of Investigation said the arrests came across 1,746 cases during a seven-month operation that began in November 2025. Police also detained 154 people and confiscated 107.2 billion won in alleged criminal proceeds.
LinkTheir ban only resulted in having lots of illegal gambling operations. Seems a lot of people aren't afraid of being jailed .

Such bans are not an exception in any particular country, and it seems that some countries are deciding to ban gambling, but whether these laws will actually be enforced is another question. In my country, there are also no offline casinos, and gambling advertising is prohibited, but it exists online, it’s everywhere, and whether the government likes it or not, people still gamble and find ways to withdraw their winnings. Everywhere, it seems, there is an emphasis on caring for the population, but nevertheless, everything remains only on paper, and ensuring a good standard of living still remains only in plans. It seems that no one is planning to solve these problems.

Gambling will never be completely banned in the Philippines. For me, what they are doing now is just trying to control the damage that has already been done. Im from this country and I know how massive corruption can be here, so even with this proposed bill, Im still not convinced that they are really serious about solving the problem. Even if it gets passed, I would not be surprised if the implementation becomes very lax. A law can look strict on paper, but what really matters is how seriously it will be enforced.

Banning gambling advertisement on social media or TV can actually help to reduce the way they gamble however it will not stop it, let us not say it won't be of help because that's not true. There are other things they can actually do to reduce or stop people from focusing too much on gambling, and the only way to find out the things they can do to actually help people not to focus on gambling anymore or too much is to find out the reason why people are actually gambling, if majority of people are gambling because they want to get money from it, then the best thing to do is to provide a lot of jobs however if they are gambling not because of making money but because they see it as fun then I don't think there's anything they can do to stop people from gambling.

Gambling usually thrives, and can therefore cause more harm, when a country has high levels of poverty and stress, as well as low levels of financial literacy. That’s why banning advertising will have absolutely no effect on whether people continue to gamble and lose dangerously large amounts of money for them.Instead of thinking about what to ban, we should think about how to genuinely improve people’s quality of life and financial literacy. Then there would be less need to ban gambling advertising, and it could become an additional source of revenue for the country’s budget.

I can agree that banning ads could make gambling less appealing. Especially to people who were hardly interested in it before. Less often someone sees ads for casino, bonus and betting then fewer extra temptation they have to give gambling a try. But in my opinion it is obviously impossible to completely solve this problem this way. You know, problem is often not just lack of money. But more importantly desire to get it quickly without putting in much time or effort. Job provide you stable income, while gambling create exactly that illusion of being able to make large amount of money almost instantly without much effort. If you gamble purely for entertainment then I don't really see any reason to try to stop you completely. If you control your spending, don't try to chase your loss and see the money you spend as cost of entertainment then that is completely different situation.
