Why a rebirthKittehCoin was launched in 2013 with a simple, honest brief: be a real cat coin on its own chain, give the dog coins a run, and belong to the people who mined it, spent it, and kept the nodes alive.
That brief did not survive the years that followed.
Development drifted. Contributors with other agendas stepped in. Stewardship became inconsistent. The original chain was left exposed to dumps, neglect, and a reputation it could not outrun. Later, another party tried to keep the name alive by rebranding on the
same damaged ledger. The damage was already done. You cannot polish a history the market has already priced as broken.
After that came the novelty era: the name appeared as a token on somebody else’s smart-contract chain. That is not KittehCoin. A token riding another network is a label. KittehCoin was always meant to be a
coin — its own peer-to-peer network, its own miners, its own addresses, its own rules.
So we did the only honest thing left.
We rebuilt it from the ground up on current Litecoin Core source, repaired the original consensus and client problems, and started a
new genesis. No premine. No recycled chain. No borrowed contract. A community coin, again, with a clean ledger.
Because the name has been copied, forked, and tokenized, this project is published as
KittehCoin 2.0 with ticker
MEOWS (not MEOW), so nobody has to guess which network they are on.
This is not a wrap, a rebase, or a ticker swap.
KittehCoin 2.0 does not continue the old MEOW UTXO set. Old wallets, old private keys, and old explorer balances do not credit here. That is the point: a fresh start the original chain could no longer provide.
What KittehCoin 2.0 is- An independent Scrypt proof-of-work coin
- A new genesis and a new P2P magic, so it cannot sync to legacy or impostor nets
- Fair launch: no premine, no founder allocation, no ICO

A note to the original communityIf you mined MEOW in 2013, argued in this forum in 2014, or kept a paper wallet in a drawer: thank you. That coin mattered. This project does not pretend the old chain can be unwound, and it does not ask you to treat a token as the same thing.
