The game is simple and it need to be played with different set of plans, if the focus is short term profiting. When our plan is long term profit making, then there is nothing to worry about. Just hold it and continue accumulating unlike the price movement. With short term profiting we should enter the market at the right point and have the right exit point. This is a continued process and we need to be observing the market in a much closer way. If one plan didn't work, we need to be prepared enough with next one expecting the better outcome. Market won't be moving exactly as our prediction and comparative data will help us take better position.

if you are making extra $50 per week for investment only, put $25 in Bitcoin and $25 in USDT every week.
That's not a bad recommendation, just that i wouldn't do it using usdt or any other stablecoin, for obvious reasons. I would rather put that amount in fiat currency and store it in the bank.

Another slight alteration i would make is, i'd put lesser than 50% of that extra cash into fiat. My own way would be, at least 80% of that amount, which is $40 would go into BTC, then 20% can stay in fiat, for emergencies and other stuffs, take note that these percentages would apply irrespective of the value of the extra cash. Other than that, your suggestion is great.

No sides only grabbing opportunities should be the game, have enough cash to buy at any given opportunity and buy at every moment regardless of what it might seem to be whether bottom or not just as long as you can get it at a cheaper rate is the point, if you can buy for a discount price that should be the most priority and not taking sides for the game since we are playing an unfair and unlimited game. Unfair in the sense that some people are buying with an amount you can’t afford to, so you have to buy at your pace.

@Lontor : Playing both sides kills the focus. DCA into Bitcoin keeps it simple without hedging against your own conviction.

@Ambatman : Exactly. The roller-coaster is part of it, which is why stepping away beats trying to micro-manage every dip.
The DCA is the best because you will be certain of accumulating your Bitcoin if you have been consistent, it will actually save us the stress of checking through the market always or waiting for the price to go dip for us to buy some, it is more than what others will think, but the peace of mind in DCA is far better than waiting for an opportunity that might not come.

Trying to play both sides will actually not go well on a long run, you might get distracted with your DCA if you see the dip, and what makes you target the dip can actually convince you to sell once you see a good profit and think of waiting for another opportunity.

One strategy is better to focus on how you will accumulate your Bitcoin, you can decide to use the DCA method, or buying the dip if you can have patient to wait, the main aim is to buy and hold some Bitcoin.

These people do not really intend to invest for long term because they are here for short term profitability, and really believe that getting-rich-quick with bitcoin will be highly possible. That's why they often check the market charts and see how bitcoin price is going, so that they won't miss every single opportunity with bitcoin. But isn't this putting more pressure on their part because they keep timing bitcoin whether its already top or in the bottom?

Personally, I see this isn't good in the long run. Aside that you can't have peace of mind, you can't also focused on what's your next step on your investment since you keep relying on how the market moves and how the price is doing.

Instead, focus on DCA and never stop stacking bitcoin. Bitcoin is more profitable when its stored for long term, so let it stay safe in our wallet without getting tempted to sell or fall into panic selling.

Holding is a roller coaster and checking market price frequently won’t make the ride any less easier. You are only increasing your emotional stress , especially as a newbie that’s interested in holding for longterm investment. While some are trying to play smart one on the market thinking they can time the market buying the bottom while targeting the top , i won’t completely call that holding I will rather call that trading . I literally went through the phase of always being unsettled whenever the market prices is dipping or undergoing correction but with time I began to understand that the dip is like the market gathering strength for the up .

Agree ?

Not really. Before you draw conclusions, first of all, find out whether they are investing or they are trading. A trader has the right to time the market, buy low, and sell high. I respect that decision. However, our definition of a Bitcoin investor is an investor buying Bitcoin and intends to hold that Bitcoin for the long term. Mind you, we have short-term investors and long-term investors. I don't agree with that rule that short-term investors are called traders because I don't need to hold my Bitcoin for 20 years before I should be considered an investor. Five years is enough to invest in Bitcoin, which is placed under short-term investment.

We have to stop checking the charts every five minutes
I have realized that long time ago, although I still check charts from time to time or whenever I want to.

But not to waste my time anymore in checking it almost every minute. Someone who's dedicated in investing to Bitcoin realizes that this is a long game.

A long game that must be taken seriously because if not, you're in it to just enter and will come out later because of having series of panic attacks.

To each their own for how long they want to stay but once they have figured out how to stay long here, they'll be the ones to do it in silence by staying consistent in dca.

Most people are trying to time the top or bottom of Bitcoin .

Honestly ? This ( Best strategy ) has always been the most boring one : All we have to do is stack sats then log off .

We have to stop checking the charts every five minutes , Our future will thank us for the peace of mind.

Agree ?

Best way and advise is  to stack up money together buy bitcoin at once’s base on what you can afford, withdraw the coin down to your self custody wallet safe keep the security key and then uninstall what ever that will be sending your price notification and live a peaceful life as if you don’t own any bitcoin.

Or you can DCA, while doing that pay deaf ear to what ever that appears to be news which can give you negative mindsets about your accumulation plans, treat your investment like a locked savings which you can’t temper with until 1 full circle or up to a decade, only search about bitcoin when you are about to buy anything other than that don’t accommodate it so that you don’t create room for doubt.

Honestly ? This ( Best strategy ) has always been the most boring one : All we have to do is stack sats then log off .
Most holders do this. What differs is likely the method. Whether buying via a lump-sum approach, DCA, averaging down, or another strategy. Clearly, the choice depends on our individual financial capabilities and strategies.

We have to stop checking the charts every five minutes , Our future will thank us for the peace of mind.
For long-term holding. Yes, it is true. It is also about controlling and managing our emotions. But for traders, it’s different. That’s why there is a distinction between hodlers and traders. Traders constantly monitor the market. Which makes trading activities commonly more stressful. So, when it comes to holding, just keep that in mind and keep your peace of mind.

This is obviously playing the game wrongly. You can't time the market and tell in certainty when the market turns bearish or bullish, or when the bitcoin price stays on top or reach its bottom. The whole market is highly uncertain, and bitcoin moves with high volatility, we can predict but we can have no guarantees.

That is why DCA exists, so we won't be pressured when to best enter the market. Through DCA, we will still continuously accumulate bitcoin regardless of its price, and through DCA, we can avoid the burden and high risk of lump sum buying.

Checking the chart every five minutes is an act of lack of knowledge by becoming restless in the market. You don't have to go through with that, just trust DCA and you will be fine and calm.

Some people try to be smart when investing and bitcoin market, but the truth is that no matter where you buy it as long as you are already into the investment that is what is important, some people prefer to buy from the deeps I will consider that not to be a wrong approach not literally timing the markets but just a safeer way to enter, what I will totally disagree with and will not ever support is buying from the top that is a wrong way of investing. Now that the market is at this point that's it has made a deep this is the wisest time for an investor to accumulate more and try to get a better position in the Bitcoin market

Although I speak off investments and not trading some people try to buy low and sell high I personally do not support that because you might be putting yourself into a problem you will later have to regret.

DCA is indeed a good strategy.

However, if people are willing to invest a bit of time, I think they can still get a higher ROI simply recognizing patterns of panic sales and exaggerated FOMO phases, i.e. where Bitcoin seems to be overvalued and undervalued.

I agree to investing a lot of time to recognizing patterns but, the market still gets to beat us more often than not.
Notably, the market in recent times when we take a look at what was obtainable in the previous cycle’s bullrun and bear market season isn’t what we have experienced and so also the patterns.

This is one of the main reasons why most people would always rely on DCA and holding for a long term to be the most ideal strategy towards Bitcoin investment.

this is also the worst game not would be only defined as "wrong".
once you will stop to have a look at the value of btc in the FIAT terms you will get the truly essence of this invention.
just imagine the real chances that are added, provinding a truly advantage like a complete service that could easily manage your coins in a safe way... even the chance to use a censorship resistance network... The price in fiat could be easily manipulated in a short timeframe.

I don't think its a strategy either, since it's actually not helping us but is only giving us stress and headaches especially when bitcoin price continuously drop in the market. But what do we really expect, bitcoin itself is highly volatile, so we can't anticipate that bitcoin price will stay on a stable position for long. If we can get rid of checking the market price more often, then we can stay unbothered even if bitcoin price is deeply crashing.

But with DCA, even if the current price is dropping, you won't experience losing because you aren't selling as well, but consistent buying through DCA will help you won't miss any opportunity in the market and will help your bitcoin portfolio fast growing as long as you have regular flow of income that will continuously sustain bitcoin DCAing.

Notably, the market in recent times when we take a look at what was obtainable in the previous cycle’s bullrun and bear market season isn’t what we have experienced and so also the patterns.
I also expected the bullrun in 2025 to go (a little bit) higher. But I was suspecting (and it was confirmed) that we were already "well in the FOMO phase" when we hit the 120k area.

That FOMO phase for me becan when people were starting to talk about that the US strategic reserve would leave no spare Bitcoins for the common folks, and it would skyrocket to millions of USD. This was in late 2024/early 2025. We had similar predictions in earlier FOMO phases.

In contrast, I think now is a good moment to buy (no investment advice!). I think we can go lower still, but the panic triggered by Saylor's first ~30 BTC sale had the character of a capitulation already. People were acting as if he would sell his 800,000 BTC in one single second. Tongue

It's these exaggerations that matter to assess "where we are" in the cycle, and of course the relation to the longterm price. In the image I showed in my previous post, you can see that 120k was well above the "adjusted long term" price, which in October 2025 was even below 80k (~ around 70-75k). And in the past, every time the price fell below that line, it was a good time to buy.

It is of course possible that we go into a longer bear market eventually, which would be painful because the "known patterns" would not work anymore. I think in this case one should be very wary about the state of "real adoption", i.e. how the exchange user and merchant payment stats and also the transaction volume and L2 (e.g. Lightning/Ark) stats evolve.

Currently for example we see stagnation at LN, but a new second layer making its first steps (Ark), and the on-chain volume has recovered a lot in 2026 after a low around late 2025. This means that even if Bitcoin's price is falling it's activity shows that it is very much alive. If we go into a bear market of more than 1-1.5 years, then these statistics become paramount to evaluate if Bitcoin will recover strongly or if there is indeed a decrease in popularity (which doesn't mean that it will die but can mean it will take very long to see new ATHs). So in those cases, if all stats are going down, it is perhaps good to pause your DCA until there are signs of recovery (of any stat, not precisely the price!).

I firstly don't think 5years should be considered a short term because that's half a decade of waiting patiently and consistent effort. Short term investment in Bitcoin for traders may be for those who do scalping or day trade and want to just make daily or weekly profit from Bitcoin and we know that trading Bitcoin in this way isn't at all profitable because of the near stable market price it has maintained over the months, so it's more better to DCA Bitcoin for that 5years you mentioned or wait ten years before diversifying or liquidation of Bitcoin asset with the best returns and it qualifies as a Long term investment.

I will have to disagree a bit, personally I feel like if we looking at one holding their coins for a very long time then 5 years should be the least number of years that they should be holding and considered long time holders. This isn’t because of duration but within this five years the historical bitcoin cycle which usually houses both the bearish and bullish market cycles would have occurred and the market would have reacted to both, given the investors an opportunity to either sell within this period or buy more.

But a duration less than this is usually risky to consider it long term and if it’s even within a year then your are actually trading in my opinion and not investing although the trader can be a swing trader for like a year.

The problem with timing the market while trying to buy bitcoin is that you can never do that because of the market volatility even if you have the knowledge to actually analyze the market and that’s why as everyone pointed out DCA is the ultimate solution for this, if you find opportunity within this DCA period then you can simply double down on buying

Agree ?

The strategy is more important, than just saying someone is a trader or investor by the amount of time they hold the asset. Five years is a long enough investment period even if the investor is thinking about selling. Investing is more about establishing a position and giving it time to play out, trading is about capitalising on short-term price action over and over again. The 5 and 10 year periods are not necessarily short term or long term periods. Some people may find DCA and patience to be better strategies than continually guessing the next move of Bitcoin.

The wrong game is playing one side and ignoring the other, you can never tell which one will play out first, instead of doing that why not play both sides? Like buying some Bitcoin just in case the bottom is already in and safe up cash just in case bottom isn't in yet?

This is not something where you must pick 1 side only, it's game where there is no rules, so DCA in Bitcoin and fiat all together, if you are making extra $50 per week for investment only, put $25 in Bitcoin and $25 in USDT every week.

It's called killing two birds with one stone, you cannot never miss out.
I think I understand your point which is combining the DCA method with buying the dips. In a bear market like we have now and in which it is extremely difficult knowing when the market will hit the bottom, such methods can be very helpful and will make the investor not to miss opportunity of getting in when prices continue to go lower. The only downside of this method is that you will find it hard to invest the other 50% of the money you are saving due to the confusion of aiming for the absolute dip. However, if you have some key lower price points you aim to buy from with those funds, then you will be safe.
