And so Tom Lee and his Bitmine company continues to buy Ethereum and almost had 5% of the total supply now. It's obvious that he wanted to be the Saylor on Ethereum.

But we all know that Saylor have sold some of their stash and then rebuy again. I'm not saying that Tom Lee is going to sell, but sooner or later they might and so we don't know what will be the effect on Ethereum market if his company sold.

What are your thoughts? Will it have a big impact if he sold in the future? Or do you need to factor like what is the current cycle of the market first?

Yes of course, it would have a significant impact on the value of ETH in the future if they decides to sell off their entire eth holdings, because just imagine ethereum dropping in value, like 5% of it, that's how it would be when they sell off their entire holdings, but I doubt that they will even think of selling now or in few months time from now.
When I think they might sell is when the bull run kicks in , but even at that, we cannot be too sure that they will sell it off entirely, instead they might even buy and accumulate more, but we cannot be too sure of what they have in mind.

Ethereum is not a bad asset to invest in because after Bitcoin, it's the most reliable asset out there, but if I am the one,  I would rather choose BNB than ethereum due to some reason best known to me, not that ethereum is a bad choice.

He's already become a saylor in in ethereum version. It's so dumb to see how he's still rampant in buying ethereum while he's suffering a huge impermanet lost for his assets.

However, we remember back how he wants to launch his own preferred stock like STRC. So it's likely this is the reason why he's acquire more ethereum.

Nevertheless, the latest proposal of ethereum has proposed to cut the ethereum inflation even more. We will see ethereum to have only 1.2% yield. So it's a life or die decision to buy more ethereum without even caring his avg price and its yield won't help him a lot when he launches his preferred stock.

Beside that there is a possibilityi he may think he can benefit from the cut of ethereum inflation, but there's no guarantee this is gonna happen.

Back in 2021, each ethereum priced more than 3600, then after ethereum foudation has executed several EIPs to cut the inflation, the price is still underperform.

So his decision to go all in can be a death spiral even if he launches his preferred stock or gamble with less inflation due to the new EIP effect.

Based on the statements he makes, I thought Tom Lee owned more than 5% of Ethereum. he will sell it at some point, but not necessarily in the immediate future.
Ethereum is not a bad asset to invest in because after Bitcoin, it's the most reliable asset out there, but if I am the one,  I would rather choose BNB than ethereum due to some reason best known to me, not that ethereum is a bad choice.
In recent years, Ethereum's performance has not been as expected. If this had continued for a longer period, it would have benefited more investors.

$18 million is a very small amount for this market.
Bitmine wants to own 5% of all Ethereum, and I believe that, over the next 2-5 years, buying Ethereum below $2,000 is a good idea. AI agents and RWAs are the future, and most of these projects operate in the Ethereum ecosystem.

That amount he used to buy Bitcoin is indeed small compare on ETH market size. But those explanation truly have sense, since that plans to accumulate more ETH at $2000 is still alight with its long term fundamental.

As what data shows over 30% of ETH supply has been staked, then supply of this coin keep shrinking and also we could see this coin is been widely used by Ai/RWA projects. With that we could see that there's great future coming ahead.

There are several forecast that it could possibly climb at $5000 - $8000, but let see if ETH would really hit this figure. Also if investors believe on Ethereum's role and those technologies emerging using its blockchain.  Accumulating now make sense, especially if their strategy is for long term.

Although in the end sales in the future will not be significant, we see how Microstrategy selling only a slight decline due to panic.

Reports say the ETH for staking is already 87% with a yield of 2.61% this goal is possible Bitmine continues to buy ETH, I'm not saying it's entirely true but there is a projection plan behind it.

What do are your thoughts? Will it have a big impact if he sold in the future? Or do you need to factor like what is the current cycle of the market first?
Yes, he's got that impact to the market of ETH once he starts selling. But I don't see it happening for now.

ETH is one of those stagnant altcoins and he's preparing for the next bull run cycle and trying to get into it once we're back.

He's for sure going to sell when the right time comes. IIRC, Didn't he sold majority of his LTC before when it's near the peak or actually in the top?

Bitmine has already met their 5% ETH accumulation target aka "The Alchemy of 5%".

Also I agree that ETH priced under $2000 is a steal. I'm surprised that it has stayed under $2K for much longer given that Bitmine has been accumulating every week for the last 1 year, but its worrying that the largest marginal buyer of ETH in that time period is in deep losses.

I think people need to pay attention to the yield of Bitmine's staked ETH. It's unlike STRC where Saylor need to profit from capital gain solely, ETH can be staked and Bitmine is getting 2.61% of yield and it is enough to make up part of the preferred stock dividend if combined with the ETH which was acquired long before they decided to copy Saylor's move. If I remember correctly, Tom Lee said their 4% supply which was their reserve in December 2025, when the interview takes place, can already generate over $1 million net income per day.

If they keep buying at low to decrease the average costs of acquiring their ETH. The business makes more sense than Saylor's STRC. However, it doesn't necessarily guarantee that BitMine won't sell, despite the chairman Tom Lee stated they will never sell their ETH because there is no reason selling it from his interview, we already learned that you shouldn't trust someone easily.

What do are your thoughts? Will it have a big impact if he sold in the future? Or do you need to factor like what is the current cycle of the market first?

That's great. Because now Ethereum can enjoy massive capital inflows like Bitcoin. The only thing is that $18m isn't going to do much to help elevate ETH's market prices to the moon. More money is needed to keep the ball rolling. But at least, we're off to a good start.

It seems like Tom Lee wants to mimic Michael Saylor with his Bitcoin purchases. Saylor has more money, so he is able to "pump" more into BTC. Tom Lee has a lot to catch up. Having a lot of ETH at his disposal, surely comes with its benefits. But it would also pose a risk to the price of ETH. Especially if he sells it all. Many long-term ETH holders (like myself) are waiting for ETH to finally cross the $10k mark. The question is: Will it happen? Only time will tell...

It won't change much because the downward trend will continue (from 0.11BTC down to 0.03BTC) and since ETH is mostly useless and has an unlimited supply that is going to continue.
Also because these companies know how to dump without affecting the price since that affects their net worth as well.

We can safely say that Tom Lee, is to Ethereum what Saylor is to Bitcoin, it is a good thing to have big institutions that believes in the potentials of these number one and distant number two cryptocurrencies, I believe that these whales are some of the reasons why some investors have strong believe in the potentials of the top coins.

If Saylor, with all his assurances of not selling Strategy's Bitcoin would turnaround to sell we shouldn't be surprised if Tom Lee, does the same thing with Ethereum, we shouldn't expect any institutions to hold indefinitely, what we don't want is for them to suddenly make plans to suddenly dump their stash on the market. I know that if any whale dumps their Bitcoin on the market that the shock would be for a short time and the market would recover, if Ethereum has such a strong community and Tom Lee, were to decide to dump his Ethereum I likewise believe that it can recover but surely not as fast as Bitcoin.

And so Tom Lee and his Bitmine company continues to buy Ethereum and almost had 5% of the total supply now. It's obvious that he wanted to be the Saylor on Ethereum.
But wait, the ETH's issuance isn't capped, which means that over time, that 5% share of the total supply will shrink, right? In other words, Bitmine would have to keep buying more ETH; otherwise, its share of the total (currently nearly 5%) would decrease.

And didn't this buying activity have any impact on the price of ETH? I haven't really noticed any significant rise since last week.

But we all know that Saylor have sold some of their stash and then rebuy again. I'm not saying that Tom Lee is going to sell, but sooner or later they might and so we don't know what will be the effect on Ethereum market if his company sold.
Any investment in an crypto asset (buying) must eventually lead to profit-taking (selling). Consequently, at some point, all these institutional giants-investor will want to sell their assets. The sell-off might occur in stages to avoid crashing the market or eroding profits, yet it could still impact market conditions and the crypto industry as a whole. Everyone anticipated the arrival of major investors; they have arrived, and the market has now turned into a ticking time bomb that could one day bring everything crashing down and set this industry back significantly. It is impossible for institutional investors to hold these assets forever.

What are your thoughts? Will it have a big impact if he sold in the future? Or do you need to factor like what is the current cycle of the market first?
I am certain that a multitude of factors will influence the consequences. In other words, some things might soften the blow, while others could actually exacerbate the impact.

I believe that, like any sale, this will trigger a market downturn. The severity of the decline will depend on the surrounding circumstances.
