In short quantum computer is faster version of our standard computer. And it might be able to solve mathematical problem much faster by using qubits, superposition and interference.

But quantum computer have no capacity to erase blockchain ledger or consensus rule. Primary risk lies in the ownership and security of vulnerable coin. However this threat can be mitigated if Bitcoin protocol migrates to post quantum signature.

I know where this is going, OP you don't have to be in worries because of Quantum computer existence, trust me people who are supposed to do something about it are already working towards that, you are not the only one who knows the possible threats of quantum computer.

There are so many powerful entities that won't want Bitcoin to get rugged because of quantum computer, too many businesses and markets are at greater risks too.

If quantum computer is the end of Bitcoin the likes of BlackRock and Micro strategy would avoid Bitcoin completely.

The thread about quantum computing are more than this but still people will ask about quantum computing and this op said there has been a lot on quantum computing, a lot meaning a lot of materials for them to research on about the said topic but definitely they just want to skip that and come right here.
I wonder if they even read the replies, if they can't at least pick up somethings from where they first saw the topic.

The FUD going around Quantum Computers towards Bitcoin is one topic and question going round, and because of the thoughts that it will have some bad results has made people to not seat to think that there will be a way out when the time of the threat comes to take place. As much as the development of Quantum Computers are fast growing, so are there resources that will help stand against its threat when it arises.

It doesn't affect SHA 256 but makes it theoretically possible to get private keys from its pubkey.

When I saw the title of this thread and clicked it, I wa hoping to see a write-up that says “quantum computers are now fully operational and not a threat to Bitcoin anymore.”

Like the number of threads being created around quantum computer and its possible threat to Bitcoin is becoming something else.

Since we've had several similar threads, it's only sensible that we bump any of them whenever we find anything new to say about quantum than to continue creating generic threads on the same topic.

I totally agree about bumping older post on this subject because alot of topics has been created about this and so many answers has been given, but if I still have to add, Bitcoin has an advantage because it is open source, programmable and that means the network could easily be forked or upgraded to evade the damage QC can do to the network.

Nothing as of the moment. If the US government isn't worried yet, I don't think you have to worry either. If quantum computers are really a threat, the US would probably be one of the first to make a move, and we would know about it. 

Although BTC is down around 49% from its ATH, that's still within a normal cycle and not because of quantum computers. Bitcoin and the crypto market would have dived even more if it were really a threat, don't you think so?
