Can Reputation Be Considered A Form Of Wealth?

I want to believe we all can agree that money is not the only thing that can open doors for someone. Sometimes a person can get a job, business deal or any just because someone trusted them enough to recommend them. In that way reputation can have real value even though you can not put that in a bank account.

Reputation is Interesting because it doesn’t only seem on what you personally do, sometimes another person action affect how people see you. If you repeatedly recommend people who turn out to be dishonest or careless, people eventually may start questioning your own judgment.

We often talk about money, education, skill and connection when discussing what gives someone an advantage in the society but where does reputation fit into all this?

Can being known as someone whose word can be trusted be a form of social or economic wealth?

And if losing that trust, can people lose opportunity, relationships or influence, does that make reputation  just as important as the things we normally consider valuable?

Human resources is the greatest form of wealth you can have. If you've got the required connection, then it's not only your reputation that's opening the door, but it's been merged with that if the person recommending you and let's not forget that some people spend a lot to get that recommendation that you'll get effortlessly if you've the human resource. Connections bring money, it opens doors to get more money. I've experienced it first-hand getting jobs even when I'm the least qualified, but because I've a friend who is an insider in the organization whose reputation speaks for me from the inside and he can only do that because I've demonstrated great integrity towards him and he trusts me to deliver accordingly.

Your reputation can be converted to it's money equivalent if the right people trusts and recommends you

Whether or not reputation is a form of wealth depends on whether it is validly earned or unearned. Unearned reputation is a rampant problem in today's world, especially in governments who are automatically given faith without having earned it, and in fact they have outright abused populations in most cases, making their false positive reputation a curse on society rather than wealth.

One major project I'm working on is a web of trust network and the biggest challenge is to avoid people falsely earning reputation.

The reputation you stand to get is a measure to the value you have created in a society, you cannot see a useless person being rated as a reputed individual in the society, what people celebrated and appreciate most is the value we have created, what problem are you fixing and how relevant are you in the society you lived in, who are those benefiting from the impact you are creating and how do people see you being a problem solver than the one that creates more problems to complicate the challenges others may be facing.

For example, if a business person has been doing business with people in the area for plenty of months and every person knows him to be a honest person who is nice and keeps to his word, it will be very easy to trust and even recommend that kind of person to someone that you know.

The honest businessman will be getting lots of jobs and appointments and he not even know that it is his reputation that is making people to trust him with jobs. This is how powerful reputation is.

In real life, person may not be able to withdraw reputation like money in the bank, but it is worth more than money.  Person can loose money and get it back after some day and month, but if person loose their reputation. It will be very hard to get it back. This is why it is always good to to good and honest everyday of your life. Respect people and treat them right.

In many establishments especially the ones especially the ones that involves the constant flow of money, reputation is considered a form of wealth. I've gotten access to opportunities I know couldn't afford with just money. When you're known to be an individual with that's very fidel and keeps their word at all times, you can be easily recommended to do highly profitable businesses.

Reputation is an invisible asset just that you'll need to maintain it at all times because one bad action can affect everything you've spent years building.

Reputation Isn't entirely wealth because it doesn't mean that you will become rich if you are a reputable person but however is an important quality that would always distinguished you from people wherever you are and at the same time favour could also locate you, however I want to use this case to share an experience, their was someone I no who drives taxi, there was a day a passenger left his wallet on his car and inside there was some money and bank card of the passenger including other things and the driver had every chance to take everything but he chose to go back to return it and at the end because of his principle his life change through the help of the passenger so actually this are the favours that could be attracted by being honest and is also the same in business because without reputation your business will be unstable and unrecommended by people.
