Can Reputation Be Considered A Form Of Wealth?

Reputation is a self developed character that triggers people to trust you mostly in financial dealings so yes, Reputation can actually aid in wealth creation but that will happen if you have something to offer because if you do not have anything to offer, your Reputation cannot open any connection for you. It is important that while you maintain a good Reputation, also have something that people will trust you for. In business, Reputation can help you get more referrals from those who trusts you. In politics, Reputation can also make people trust you with public office because they will look at your track record and know that you cannot mismanage government funds and you are going to be transparent and accountable.

Do you believe that your reputation is fully under your control, and no one else can change that?    Because once you realize you have no defense against long cons or corruption, you'll understand something that can be taken by anybody at any time is not valuable.  The bible was written for a society that no longer exists.

It's impossible to control what other people think and say about us, the way we greet, dress, speak, and approach real life problems adds to our reputations, some things people love or hate about me, I can decide to change, I've got the control to dress nice or not, it's also up to me to become a reputable stand up comedian, If I work so much on my public speaking skill. We're so in control of the building stage, its digression is left for what people chooses to believe about us. I could become a great comedian for a decade, and in the next decade a laughing stock in the entertainment industry for cracking a bad joke about a well respected and reputable person that didn't turn out well with my entertainment career. You see instances as the ones I used, will never be under my control, but one good news is that those values won't be taken out by anybody else, it stays with the builder for life.

Reputation might not be considered a form of wealth,  but I think it's a good thing to have as a human, because a good reputation can open opportunities for you. I believe your reputations speaks for you even before you get to the room. Like I said it might not be considered as a form of wealth,  but it's definitely source that can make you wealthy, because if you have a good reputation on what you do, you definitely get good recommendations from people and that will definitely amass to wealth for the individual.

Reputation and wealth are two different things. Reputation is not a form of wealth. What someone will use connections to achieve, someone without connections but with a reputation will take a longer period to achieve. The world is not fair to anyone.

Having a good reputation in society will save you from a lot of problems, and it will be easier for someone to intercede on your behalf when you are having challenges.

I know of time, health, consistency, hard work, knowledge and understanding, skill, and career as forms of wealth. Reputation isn't a form of wealth, IMO.

Opportunity, fame, self-respect, money, everything is a basic personal matter of a person, but in this society, the person who has more money has more respect. If a person can live his whole life with honesty, it is natural that that person's self-respect will be high, but in the current society, people's respect is considered depending on money.
However, a person has the right to get the respect he deserves, while people should definitely consider these basic personal matters. However, if you lose only money in your old age, because your self-respect will also be lost,

Having a very good reputation is the most important thing in life, because by so doing you will not be struggling to defend yourself since others have understand you and they all know that you have a very good character, so in this case people speak for you. Reputation is a form of wealth, for example take a look at some companies that people trusted today, it their goodness that open more door for them, there are something which they have offered in the past that make people have confidence in them, that is why they find very difficult to speak bad about them because of what they have been doing.

In my opinion, your reputation can likely be considered an even greater form of wealth. And unlike the wealth and riches we mostly strive to acquire, it's entirely up to the individual on building or breaking his reputation. Noted earlier on the thread, it is also mentioned in the bible, for those that are religious, on how a good name is better than riches.
You can be extremely wealthy and still be a shitty individual. But you can always depend on the individual with a good name.

A good example of how a good name/reputation can be considered as a form of wealth is on here on the forum. On here, your reputation is mostly everything, irrespective of how much you've got IRL.

We often talk about money, education, skill and connection when discussing what gives someone an advantage in the society but where does reputation fit into all this?

If you are a business owner that obviously rely on sells for the growth of your business, then you will understand that your reputation is far more important than some of the physical asset and even the money you have in the bank. it is mostly those that are just starting there life and that believe that there is nothing to loose that always think that reputation don't matter.

You can own a multi million investment that easily get wrecked by reason of a bad image (reputation) that the public holds about you and it directly have effect on even the services you are rendering. even though reputation on itself is not enough to build wealth, it absent can destroy the wealth that took you a long time to build.
