There are many factors that affect the growth of man in the society especially in Africa. Sometimes you feel sorry for those trying so hard to earn a living through legitimate means. Some of the factors are (1) Environment is one of the key factor that contributes to someone's economic development because you can come from somewhere where potentials are not properly rewarded or not seen example football players. But the moment you found yourself in an environment where your potential can be seen the rest will be history.(2) Society also play a key role in developing you economically if the society you find yourself is working properly. Because a working society recognizes and bring out the best in you.(3) Family name also is another factor that contributes to someone's economic development because a made name or high placed name can actually open doors that are closed to some people but will open for you.
That's why life is not a bed of roses, even if as a footballer or any other professional in the right environment if you don't put in the work you will not grow in your field or financially.
There are many professionals in the right environment but the could not compete with others.
Nothing is meant to be easy, if your environment doesn't favor you then find a way to move to places where you can grow economically and in your profession. If you keep giving excuses and start crying about how unfair life is you will still not make any difference.
