You said a working society brings out the best in you. True in theory. STill, most societies are successful for a certain group of individuals. and then the rest of us just float around in it. One could grow up in a society and never be recognized by its social institutions. For many locations that is just the design in action, as intended.

Family name is where it gets personal. When your family name is significant doors will open differently. Check out how legacy admission works in American universities. So go and see the business in Japan and Italy and in the Gulf. Who-you-know networks are used throughout the world. The only difference is how much paperwork they wrap around it to make it look like something else.

Is it possible to create an economy which is not subjected to these patterns? Every individual system that humans have ever used will eventually develop their own version of "family name". The term meritocracy is pretty good until you remember who is getting to decide what is merit and who is not.

There are several things that contribute to the growth and development of the country including Supportive environment, surrounded by motivated individuals, cooperation, no discrimination or tribalism, availability of agricultural infrastructure, availability of social amenities, good educational system, creation of job opportunities and most importantly good governance. If the opposite of all the things that I've mentioned occur in a community or country it will hinder the growth and development of that country. Yeah, the environment can really make progress on humans. I've known of people with so much natural gifted artists and got their gifts terminated because they grew up in a wrong environment with no limited opportunities, no support from politicians and no one to push them, that's how their talent got wasted. while a young with little talent in the right society i.e environment with perfect last name will you succeed in just little period of time. Mindset is really important in development because how a person sees and reacts to a situation affects his next step. Two people in the same situation can make different decisions. Because everyone's thinking, confidence, experience and learning mindset are not the same.  positive and supportive environment gives a person the opportunity to learn something new. If a person stays in a negative environment for a long time  he often becomes reluctant to think outside his conventional ideas. However  blaming the environment is not entirely reasonable. But even people from the poorest parts of the world could get richer thanks to the online world; you do not have to have an insane amount of money. I agree with a lot of this, but ultimately, it depends on the person. People have a way of adapting. Some, born into poverty, accept their fate and believe they can never achieve anything more. But others break that cycle. There are plenty of examples. Conversely, there are those from wealthy, well-known families who squander everything they were handed on a silver platter and amount to nothing. I believe it all comes down to upbringing. I always tell people that if they want to succeed in life their environments and people they associate themselves with matters a lot. As someone who have a good skill or is talented you need to be in an environment where you can be easily noticed, note, I'm saying you should live above your means.
