Very true, the economy of a nation has alot to do with the way its people grow or suffer, so a thriving economy would mean the people are thriving, simple and short. For China, i would say they have gone through alot and they decided to take a different path so their nation's progress can improve and it worked out great for them, i think if alot of nations were to follow the same path, they would also see improvement in the lives of the people who live there as well as the economy of the nation.
To be honest, it takes a lot of effort and determination from the leaders of a nation to make such a commitment to better the lives of its people but thats the sacrifice that the leaders in China made and now we celebrate them so its something for the government to consider hard and then do.

Why do we think some countries are more developed and powerful than others, because they have strong economy and also have dedicated leaders, when the economy of a country is increasing, then they will have strong affinity to develop or afford the necessary infrastructures they needed and as well improve their security defense, whereby other countries will not serve a threat to them, neither will they have tit depend on others for what they will need for their sustainability.

Well it all comes down to the root of the economy. I agree that an economy must need a plan if they really want a massive innovation as time passes, because with each year that passes by, if an economy cannot at least achieve one growth per year, then that economy and the system is highly corrupted by the so called government who are supposed to rule, organize, and access the issues/opinions of the people to further systematic growth. That said I believe apart from the government, the people are also to be blamed for the downfall of an economy. There was something I read recently, it said the difference between humans and animals is that a wolf doesn't choose a fool to lead the pack, but humans when it comes time for election, we often choose based on fake promises, bribery, and so many more. It's easy to say for an economy to grow, it needs honest citizens and a quality government that's all......

He made mentioned of a "planned phase" from from 1949 to 1978, which means that they must have made many mistakes within that and kept trying till they became this great, that he didn’t made mention of the challenges China faced before they got his far doesn't mean they didn't face any challenges or he's not aware of it. You seem confused about China's golden moment and it certainly wasn't from 1949 to 1978 - that era was arguably the worst position China has ever been in. Mao was so dumb he ordered all the birds to he killed because they were "stealing" grain from the peasants, only to cause a famine when the insects devoured the crops instead. It was only after the terrible form of government that almost any alternative would have produced an uptick in the economy. They turned to quasi-capitalism and did propel themselves out of poverty, but this was because they opened up the country a lot. Talking about reoccurring mistakes, it's under current leader Xi Jinping that dictatorship has returned (instead of committee rule) and he is closing the country back up again while oppressing the people - which causes erosion to all the success they've had so far. There is no doubt about that, but it takes a good administration to make that possible, because only planning wouldn't work, the plans have to be implemented as well, and that can only be possible if the government of a country is good. If a country has a corrupt government, and every person that comes in power one after the other are all just greedy pieces of s**t, then the country can never have a good economy because they won't execute any of the plans they promise to implement to their people whenever they need to fool them.

Countries that had bad economies in the past and managed to get through their difficulties and proved to the world that they are capable enough, those countries were lucky enough to get good people to run the country. In some countries, the people can't actually do much, because even if they decide to vote, the corrupt leaders won't count their votes, or there will be cheating so that those in power can win again in the elections.

Yes that's true, the problem most economy face today is lack of correcting a recurring mistake. The growth of any nation lies in their hands and there downfall also lies in their hands. China has moved from consumer to producers, for any economy to grow, they must  be productive, not depending totally from what others are producing. They must build factories that will enable them refiine their raw materials and export to other countries and sell them in dollars. It will creat employment opportunities for the masses and Also attract foreign investor to come and invest. They must must first value their products before people from outside will value it. The Economy is the Nation, most problems a country is facing can be solved with proper economic planning and policies that is why the country that manage its economy and develop it will become more prosperous and better. China had a bad time earlier in the modern civilization but they were able to bounce back and use their human capital among other resources to become the second largest economy in the world only after the USA. it is indeed a great example of how working on developing the economy can change the lives of millions of the citizens and bring more opportunities to the Country just like how many companies have shifted their production to China because of its cheap labor and that has also contributed in the economy.
