[SCAM ALERT] Fake TOAD Airdrop Phishing Website – Wallet Connection Scam

What happened:: This Newbie member promoted a phishing link pretending to be the official TOAD project. The official website and official channels can be found on CoinMarketCap. This website asks users to connect their wallet and check their airdrop eligibility and they have allocated 65.15% for the fake airdrop. The official project has not announced any airdrops so far and I don't know if the project itself is legitimate either, as the contract analysis on De.Fi shows High Risk Items and a Safety Score of 58/100.

Additional Notes: I advise everyone to avoid this phishing website and always verify the official accounts of crypto projects. I also don't recommend investing in meme coin projects, as they are highly risky and can go to zero at any time because these projects have no real value.

There's no problem in earning free token, could be airdropped , tasks , e.t.c (atleast it can be exchange for Bitcoin ) but  investing in them is as act of stupidity.

Having separate wallet for it may not make the person avoid the scam, but you are right. All what the person will do is to set up the separate wallet and use it.

It can be that it is free, but pay VIP fee. Also it could be malware or phishing site like this one and the person may be scammed if he is not having experience or knowledge about it.

don't get me wrong, both are a scam, but there is a difference between getting your wallet drained on a phishing website, and someone willingly buying a shitcoins with no value. even if the memecoin is worth nothing, they get what they paid for (with money or time).

They trust that the projects they are promoting or participating in are projects with good potential, so they never bother to use a different wallet from their main wallet until their wallets are drained; in this particular case, they are in a hurry to claim their airdrops, so they did not bother to check until it's too late.
I always remind my friends to verify, check, and ask about a project; it only takes a few minutes, but it will save your assets.

For now much of the focus is on scam which some bad actors are trying to publish in the forum. If you are to attempt to report memecoin scams, you may waste a good part of your life trying to do it

Yes, exactly. Although meme coins are high-risk projects, you generally won’t be directly exposed to a wallet drain as you would with phishing sites, where all the assets in your wallet can be wiped out not just the loss resulting from investing in a particular meme project.
