How Alarming if Online Gambling Is Reaching Elementary School Children

It is not something I do to see the children in school are being found gambling not to talk of being addicted, they should be limitation to what they are going to be exposed to, many gambling platforms operate under the policy that avoid underaged gambling, but I don't know how effective are some of these rules are made applicable when it comes to reality in restricting them from having access to gamble.

Do you think it's very alarming that online gambling is reaching young people and becoming addictive at an early age?

It is a very big danger to the future of any country if they start having problems of underage gambling addiction from children as young as 10 years old because addiction has the ability to damage every effectiveness that every individual can have, and since these children are at the age where their brain is not yet completely developed, having this sort of addiction at an early age can totally ruin their future and, by extension, the workforce of any nation.

Do you have something like this in your country, and what remedies has your government undertaken?

They are underage gamblers in my country, but I'm not sure it is to the extent of this, and asking what the government is doing about it, unfortunately, the government is doing nothing to the best of my knowledge.

If the government isn't made aware of the increasing rate of underage gambling activities by concerned parties, how will they know when all they are concerned with is the revenue gambling activities generate for them.

Campaigns and seminars and educational workshops needs to be a priority in the country by well meaning organizations to tackle this before the government is made aware and steps in to do the needful.
Parents and guardians too are also tasked with the responsibility of educating their underage children about the ills of gambling at such an early age so as to mitigate the spread of underage gambling activities.

In my country, children can gamble after they reach 18. But I often see and hear teenagers who talk about casino games, and I understand that they have gambling experience.

The problem here is that children want money and want to buy everything they like. But they don’t have enough money (and that is right — parents must teach children how to spend money wisely). That's why many of them try gambling to get easy money.
So, nominally, gambling is prohibited for children, but in practice, they gamble. I can’t do anything about it, so I just try my best to teach my children that gambling is not a way to get money.

In fact, the main problem is smartphones and social media. Along with these tow easy online payment has now decreased the entry barrier to gambling a lot. 71 people aged 10 to 13 have been caught, this is about 19.7% of 361 people. I think this is really alarming. However if we see this as the prevalence of the entire population then it would be wrong. This is actually data on cases caught by the police.

Offcourse smartphone is the issue, smart phone get them exposed to things like this and they engage in it without the consent of their parents at a very tender age, which is very alarming. For me children should not be allowed to use smartphones until after high school or when they turn 18. It helps restrict them from being exposed to certain things online like gambling and other things which they are too young to participate in, that can cause harm to them in the future.
It is better to prevent them on time, to avoid things getting out of hand in the future.

South Korea? I doubt it because i thought they had strict rules put in place against underage gambling and kids in elementary school to be exposed to online gambling with such regulations is questionable. But if this is true then it is quite disappointing that kids at that age would be doing such, you can already imagine how worse it would get when they get older. This makes me wonder if they havw guardians because parental control is something that they lack because I see no reason why anyone at that age would even think about gambling.

In this era of technology, now changes are essential just because these things are getting worse. Even now, South Korea and Japan are having enough troubles because gambling is touching new highs in their schools, which is the worst thing.
Even though rules are strict, they still fail to control it because recently data showed in the last 7 months more than 316 kids aged between 12 and 18 were arrested for illegal gambling in South Korea. While more data show that 1 out of every 5 kids aged under 14 are engaged in gambling, they can be held for criminal offenses for controlling things like these.
There needs to be good awareness and engagement from society because just laws and rules are not going to help keep things in balance.

Here in Nigeria, young children under the age of 15 are into gambling, and most of them are even addicted to it. The only thing I think the Nigerian government has done so far is make it official that only adults at the age of 18 and above are allowed to gamble.
There's a betting store in my area; most times, when I walk past the place, I normally see younger people under the age of 15 there gambling or doing other activities, meanwhile it's clearly stated at the entrance of the building that 18+. Funny how people don't fully enforce the rules; meanwhile, going against them will likely do them more harm than good.

This is a very bad situation if it is true. if you check most of these children you will find that that one or two of their relatives are actively involved in online gambling and they have seen them over time and try to copy them maybe because of the money they make or because they think it is just fun.
One thing is that children don't just develop habits out of thin air it is either they have seen an adult to do it over time or someone is telling them to do it. so the population of people engaging in online gambling within their environment is what is influencing them to try it out themselves so if they really want to stop it or if they are trying to contain it they should start from the adults within the environments of this children

No wonder why countries such as Philippines are looking to pass bills to ban online gambling advertisements and promotions because these are the effects of such promotions and advertisements. We all know how the younger generations are so active when it comes to using technology and digital gadgets, and if parents aren't doing the needful by installing or activating parental control in the devices their children use, these are the things they are going to reach eventually even if they don't seem to do anything other than watching reels and playing games.

Governments definitely need to take notice of such things and take precautionary steps to prevent gambling from reaching children, but on the other hand, I think parents are also failing in their duties of keeping an eye on their children and their activities. If you are a parent, you should know what your kids are doing, and if you are not keeping an eye on them and what they are doing, they can surely get into things they shouldn't get into, because they are children, they don't know what is good and what is bad for them at that age, they need guidance, proper guidance.

People are happy with the development of technology because it's bringing good things for them, but with this, negativity is also increasing, especially this kind of activity is terrible because kids are engaging in gambling, meaning things are not on the right path. Even recently, many regulations are coming to restrict kids from using smartphones, but this cancer is spreading, and numbers are also increasing every day.

Due to these criminal activities, Kids in well-developed countries like Japan and South Korea are facing problems where the law is strict and people are also well aware of the consequences of these activities, but they fail to control themselves, while developing countries are also going to have problems with these because here things are not strict like in the mentioned countries. I see know reasons blaming parents for the misconduct children exhibit now, before this era we are in now there where alot of limitations on things maybe it was because many had know access to them as they where much expensive to acquire but now civilization has brought many things more closer and even created more job opportunities that many can afford the things they where unable to acquire then.
This issue of blaming parental control over children getting involved in gambling is a waste of time because the presence of online gambling has made gambling easy and giving all access to operate without letting others know what they are doing so instead of blaming parents,  I think the blames should be channelled to betting companies so they will limit there advertisements process so children will not get that important information about it.

This is certainly very concerning. Because children are not yet able to think clearly, they are not mature enough to understand the consequences of every decision they make, especially if they are exposed to gambling from an early age, they will inevitably come to believe that they can make a lot of money easily, particularly if they hear stories about getting rich through gambling. This is extremely dangerous because it can quickly lead to addiction. They will not realize that in the long run, they will only suffer losses. Furthermore, prevention cannot rely solely on restricting access, what’s most important is education from parents, thoroughly explaining what gambling is and its negative impacts, particularly on finances.
