A warning for Najia board

I wanted to send a reply on a topic created on najia board but it was locked so I am creating this thread as a precautions for all of you guys.

Karl_3000 I would advice you take things easy, nobody is ganging up anywhere to force pidgin on us. The incident that happened recently concerning TokenTikas opened a lot of people's eyes, foreigners are coming to hide in our local board, but that's not the problem.

Yes it will , as far as I know if any new account has been created from Bangladesh it will come to Najia board because of it's popularity and merit transaction. (I've some insider news you can belive ). Since there was no merit source and even mods are discouraged to giving merit on bangla it feels like abandon and they are leaving bangla to najia.

The rest is upon you either you belive it or not lol.
Atleast I have some confidential news and it's not a single person.

Lol I will get backlash from both community now. But I think it's necessary.

Thanks for raising this this awareness, and I'm glad that many will see that people from other regions are creating accounts and come to the Naija local board. Tomorrow when these accounts commits one or multiple offences in the forum, they will trace them down to the Naija local board and blame it on innocent Nigerians. Well foreigners are welcome to our local board, provided they will maintain good reputation throughout their stay in this forum. What we only fown at is bringing the names of Nigerians to disrepute.

You can confirm this by checking some of the contests on the local board and seeing the judges that were invited who are not Nigerian local board members, to supervise for fairness. There is no disunity, and such will not be allowed or tolerated by anyone. As long as you are not going to come here to violate the rules of the forum, you're welcome; our local board activities will increase more than before.

Point of correction, nobody is trying to stir up any argument here, but all we are trying to say is that people should stop claiming to come from a particular local board which they are not, because it doesn't make any sense. And for the fact that their is no restriction on which part of the forum you are supposed to post, it doesn't give you to right to jump into a particular local board with an ulterior motive, which is to farm merit and grow your account.

All the reputable members you are talking about all belong to a particular local board, and unlike the ones O.P is referring to who are hiding under the umbrella of the Nigerian local board. So those are two different things my friend. And nobody is stopping anybody from coming to our local board, inasmuch as you have already identified yourself with your original local board.

There is no disunity, of which I agree with you, but rather such act brings bad name to our local board if they are caught committing a crime, and should be totally not encourage at all.

I can see that you talk without reasoning, if you feel or think that there is no restriction to where someone can post, why are you not posting on other local boards?

In a normal sense, what @Mahiyammahi did is not appropriate. trying to reveal the little secret of the Bangladesh people simply he has been red tagged doesn't really sit well with me, but even as that the information he brought to us have confirmed the things I said in my comment he quoted to be true.

However, even before now, I already knew that some usernames on this local board are not Nigerians, they are just pretending to be Nigerians. And you know this forum, you can't say things without proof to back them up.

You are sounding as if you aren't aware of what is going on lately on our board. People that are not from our local board are now taking advantage of this and  when the problem arises it is being generalize to everyone. When we see something that isn't right what is stopping us from addressing it appropriately. If we don't do the needful now i wonder when is the right time.

That is just the real point. If for any reason, any user find it interesting in joining any of our discussion on our local board then it is cool. But the user should identify that he's not from the board that he is only visiting just to share his thoughts or whatever just in case of tomorrow. Claiming an identity that isn't yours is the real problem here that need urgent attention.

It’s simply because our local board uses English in our discussions, if it were to be another native language that others don’t understand and will require a translator that’s when it’s becomes a problem for them do visit the board and engage in discussions. But since our discussion here is in English I don’t think we can restrict them and if they make good post that is worth meriting, it will definitely be merited by the merit source or anybody that feels the post is worth meriting. I don’t think it’s a problem for another country man to engage in another country’s local board if he can write with the language the board uses for discussion. It only becomes a problem when you’ll have to use a google translate or something of that nature.

The biggest issue is the absence of a language barrier. Everyone is speaking English even if it's not our first language. Can we use pidgin? Yes but how practical is it actually? Pidgin can be very vague when written down because it's more transactional and comprehendible when it's  spoken compared to written.

All those problems come from intonations as being the back bone of pidgin. Again Nigeria is very diverse and have alot of ethnic groups and tribes so the language subset is too much for a single subset to represent em' all.

That is not how it works, you don't expect a foreigner who is not popular in the forum, that came to your local board to announce that he is not from your local. If he does that, his purpose is defeated.

If Nigerian local board doesn't want unnecessary intrusion, they should make their local language a major language, it will be difficult for foreigners to intrude, but if they do, it will not last long before they'll get tired of using translators and ai.

As long as English is used there, there's no how to identify who truly is a Nigerian. This situation will linger and may become worse in the future.

Whenever, I see an account that doesn't belong to our local board, I do know but since, we are using English as our general language that makes me just ignore them because everyone can understand what we are discussing and free to contribute.

I have also seen a few accounts proclaiming to be Nigerians posting shit in the general board just to tarnish our reputation here in the forum. I'm not always happy whenever, I see such threads. It's good things are revealing itself now.

Maybe we can have some kind of test for every LB members to know if truly they are from Nigeria.. it’s quite simple though.
The test will have to do with writing a short post under your own language in local>others…For example a new member that understands Hausa will write a short post under Hausa thread, Yoruba under Yoruba thread, Igbo under Igbo and so on .

I’m not sure any user can cheat that by using an AI.. The threads can also be created on this Local Board [ or just a single thread but I think that may be too crowded], or whichever decided by the LB member ..
