It is better that you have both because the way this our country is moving,you need to have both to survive. In comparison,I think someone who posseses a skill has more leverage because they are some establishment that you will go to apply for a job,even though you have a degree but because you don't have a skill they might not take you for the job. So having a skill or a handwork will favour you better than just having a degree. However,  education is good but since Nigeria has turn into survival of the fittest, having a degree may not be enough to guarantee you a successful future in this country except if you have connection.

You don talk am all. E better to get both skills and degree, even basic education dey count if you think say you no fit afford degree. because education e never be scam for dis today century wey we dey so, is just be say destiny get em own way as e dey work for different ppl today.
with both education and skills you fit dey improve your skills and also to use general language, like to dey use english to communicate with your clients. Although e no dey necessary for someone to go to school before you should be able to speak the language but school fit dey help you to shape your language and to also help you know different kinds of ethnic groups, and how you go take associate with them. But never di less be little skills because skills go help you to self be employe without you dey roam about different offices looking for job.

Education is important inasmuch as we can afford it. I think finishing secondary school is not too expensive in the government schools, after all a lot of us went through goverment schools because we couldn't afford school fees for private schools. Everybody must not be a graduate because of individual differences based on finance and intellectual capacity. However, even for someone who is very intelligent but couldn't afford university education, he must make sure that he learns a skill that he will be saving money so that he can still acquire University education. Let us just be sincere to ourselves, the society respects graduates, everyone deserves respect too and one of the reasons why University education is encouraged is so that people will not begin to feel inferior when they're in the midst of graduates. Even if life or the country favors you as a result of your skills, where a graduate will enter you may not be able to enter there and one job opportunity can change the life of a graduate.

Let me be real with you man, school has lost value in this country. I cannot count the amount of time that I have seen graduates on the street begging and looking for a way to survive. Just last week I took a bus while I was going somewhere. While in the bus ther was a man selling current affairs,, he looked so rough and unkept, but if you see what this man was spitting out if his mouth, you will be fucking surprised. The man was hundred percent so good in current affairs, date, and so many reciting. At times as he was reciting those things I had to go and check my phone to check if he is correct and he was.

Dude can speak Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba very well. If not for the way he appeared, I will have called him a professor.

I didn't have much cash on me to buy what he was selling so I didn't bother to patronize him. But me and the man came down at the same bus stop, so I spoke with him, and he told me he is a 2:1 graduate of Pol Science from OAU and that he lost his parents and there was nobody to help him, so he had to start helping himself out.  He told me he has not been able to see job after searching and so he gave up. That thing touched me like mad

Form this little experienced I share, we can all see where this country is going to. I hope this next election a better leader will enter and make the country better again, am just so fed up. Till then, any good skill that person can do, person should learn it and learn it very well because that can be what may be able to put food on your table in the future. Meanwhile everyone should get their PVC.

We are currently in an era where what you studied in school (university) mightn't put food on your table, you have to equipped yourself with the new trend before the country will favour you, and there's no place it's written that people that have degrees shouldn't learn relevant skills that will help them earn a living. Education is very important for everybody, we shouldn't look down on getting a good education because getting a good job with your degree is quite hard in the country, if your parents can afford to give you a good education or if you can afford to sponsor yourself through school you should go for it. Apart from getting a job in Nigeria, education plays a very vital role in the life of an individual or I'm the lives of Nigerian citizen, education makes you feel bold anywhere, and eliminate the sign of inferiority complex, education make you even learn skill more faster because some who are not educated also find it difficult to learn even skills. However when it comes to gaining job opportunity in in Nigeria, I believe those who have skill are more favoured in today's Nigeria economy, there is lesser  jobs for graduates, and government is not even giving more employment opportunities, and for this reason, the federal government has even introduced a skill program for graduates or youth coppers to enable them survive more easily without waiting for government jobs .

I believe education is mainly to know how to read and write, if you can achieve this from your primary school to your secondary school, then you are good. You don’t need to further your education to the university because in the university, you will only be educated on area that you choose.
If you want to study law you are going to be educated based on that area and if you want to be an engineer, you are going to be educated base on that area.

If you have achieved secondary school education, and you know how to read and write, after writing your WAEC you can decide to learn a skill.
Some people don’t understand that when you are learning hard work you are also being educated in that area so it is still education.

I wouldn't agree with the fact that school isn't good. Regardless the situation in our country lately where the system do not really favour those that schooled. But what I can't say is that people are still working in a good firm with their certificate but mostly on concrete connections. However, handwork on it side isn't bad either, because it can also take care of someone couple with family but it depend on what you learn. Because I have also seen people that are skillful yet still have nothing to show for it, still from hand to mouth.

I wouldn't advice anyone that have the opportunity of going to school to stay back, though there are slim chances of securing better job in recent time but a single opportunity that requires your certificate can change your story for life.
