TabTrader shutdown

So all of sudden my favourite mobile charting app has shut down...

I've been using it for about 8 years and absolutely loved it. Yet, seems like something went wrong for them.


Any other Tabtrader fans in here? What alternatives (besides Tradingview, of course, althought it's a bit different) do you plan to use now?

I stumbled upon this account on Twitter, claiming they are a team of long time Tabtrader users and are already building the replacement (sort of a copy) app of Tabtrader:

No idea when it goes live or how good it will be so currently actively looking for alternatives.

I am surprised that they have still been operating after all that time. I used to use it during the old days of Bittrex, but with the emergence of more trading apps and exchange apps, I stopped using it, and I can understand why they are shutting down. These days I use PC to trade more vs. mobile, so TradingView is good for me. There's another Chinese trading terminal for PC that I also use, but it's not yet very user-friendly.

I still used it until yesterday. It was a very convenient way to track many assets from many different exchanges on one page.

The app was super light and fast. Unfortunately nothing really comes close now.

I have hopes that someone just vibe codes a decent copy of it to be honest. Really awful timing right at the start of the bullrun

I have used their app before for portfolio tracking and charting, but I think the main purpose of it is to use it for trading, where you need to connect the API of every crypto exchange.

The problem is I don't trust them enough to use them as an all-in-one trading tool. I just want to avoid any third parties using my API or accessing my funds.

Well, right now I am using self-custody or self-hosted portfolio tracking. If you know Rotki, it is good software with open-source code.

Not necessarily, it was a great, light, ultra-fast tool for checking many charts very quickly. TradingView is just too heavy and slow for that, but it's a tool for professional charting and moreover the best one, so can't blame it.

Unfortunately, still no decent alternative to TabTrader for now.

If you know Rotki, it is good software with open-source code.

I don't use this platform at all and I'm even hearing it for the first time, but what I seem to think is not right about them is the time interval giving to notify for their complete shutdown, which was stated on the announcement that this seized operation on the 21st of August just some few days ago, but the exact question is when was this actually published and do people really have enough time to get this circular in order for them to take action before the due date.

I work in the FinTech industry as my day job and deal heavily with networking/security/devops. Currently building a replacement called TabMira. It is gaining some traction on X. Not selling anything here, it is free, no ads. I just genuinely wanted the app back to use it myself. Trading will be implemented eventually and API keys will only ever stay on your local device. Nobody will ever see that token but you.

I've tried it, will probably wait until there's an iOS app (if ever) but can give you my feedback on the PWA if you want:

1. There should be a way to go back to the main page by swiping the screen to the right, as it was in TabTrader. It's pure having to click the cross in the upper corner of the screen just to close the chart. TabTrader allowed to check lots of different charts very quickly, that was one of the main edges.

2.  When I try to add a ticker, the default exchange is always set as Coinbase and it only searches within that exchange. On Tabtrader you could just type the ticker and see all the pairs across all exchanges.

3. Manually picking an exchange is so much hassle. Need to scroll forever and the icons are not recognisable at all.


I appreciate you wanting to provide the service for free, but I don't mind paying (or watching ads) if the service is good.

Well, I'm not complaining about anything, and comparing it with TradingView, that app has unique features, but the main purpose of using it is for tracking or monitoring coins; the unique feature looks like a tab, mainly called a ticker, where it shows immediately a small chart of every coin you are monitoring. I don't mainly use it for trading because I have a subscription to TradingView.

For now I  don't see any good alternative to TabTrader, but Rotki is my option. The only problem is it is for desktop; however, the good thing about this it is open source have freemium and paid options.

The closest one that I could find is GoodCrypto, but the unique feature from TabTrader's ticker seems not to exist, but it has a crypto screener that also shows the small chart of every coin.

I used Tabtrader long ago and it is sad if they really shutdown their services. But we will see new TabTrader Mobile 2.0 as that notification, that is good because they are back with a new performance.

But looking at TabMira app, I see a different views from TabTrader. Hopefully, the old team gives more and best is not pay

If memory serves, Tabtrader 2.0. was released long time ago so that could have been an old announcement stuck in the unopened app.

As of now the official website is down and the apps are removed from the app stores, so it's pretty much over.

I noticed that, for some reason, they have separate sites, and one of them actually has more comprehensive tools.

I'm not sure if it's that common, but this is probably the second time I see a product get shutdown, then the team move on to a similar project with more or less the same features. One of the possible reason is to restructure the funding (removing lifetime subscriptions, for example), although it seems ineffective to do that when you can just change your current model. Especially if the user base is still going strong.

I also used TabTrader quite often in the past. Kinda surprised they do this, but at the same time we have more competitors now,.

I am not remembered but I am sure that is not the last year. I am not too often opened the app to analyze because the situation is not good to trade. I checked Coingecko first before open the app to see how the market moves and if the market looking good, I will analyze further. Perhaps I don't update the app so I don't see the news. If that so, I apologize.

I have never used TabTrader because I mostly trade on desktop for me trading view works very well. However, it's strange to see a platform shutting down that way although there might be many users like you who might be using that TabTrader for a long time. Surely, they'll get sad to see their useful service shutting down its operations but instead of being sad I suggest you to move to either desktop or find another alternative of TabTrader.

I am very blind and totally missed that you had already mentioned TabMira. Sorry about that.

I have been working very hard to make it as close to TabTrader as possible. If you would like to give the app another go, I fixed all the search issues. Working on issue 1 now as it has been bugging me as well.

Actually, you are the one who is blind;  you just see it in quote. He never mentioned it.
By checking your site, I don't see similarities in your site. Look at TabTrader; they have their own apps for Apple iPhone and Android, but your site looks like it only use as watchlist even the alert tab has no list of interesting alerts.

If you want, I can help you with that tab to have some feeds. You can use IFTTT; it's free to automate feeds.

If you want people to be interested in your site, I believe you should include more features than just watch lists, such as portfolio tracking, because TabTrader is mainly used for portfolio tracking, not watchlists.

Sad to see TabTrader go. I had fun memories with that app. Iirc, they used to have bittrex in the early days. Anyway, I haven't used it for years simply because trading applications and even the process of doing analysis have improved a lot in the last 5 years and that probably had something to do with why TabTrader shutdown.

As for alternatives, sorry the only one I use right now is either tradingview Desktop for actual charting and their mobile app for quick chart view.
