This raises an important question: Should governments do more to support small businesses?
Yes, the government needs to actually show up for small businesses. They are the ones who employ the most people and keep money circulating within the community. Government support is not a matter of charity; it is a long-term strategic investment. When small businesses gain access to capital, training, and fair markets, they grow strong. Consequently, the national economy as a whole becomes more resilient and secure against the shocks of a crisis. If the engines driving the grassroots economy stall, economic recovery will be sluggish. The government must step in with concrete measures, such as low-interest loans, streamlined bureaucracy, and protection against unfair competition. When the government supports small businesses, it does more than just strengthen their foundations; it enables them to scale up and create new jobs.

It is possible to establish many profitable businesses from small cottage industry management and farm management, especially it makes a big contribution to the economy of Bangladesh. In our country, small cottage industries produced from various agricultural products have developed and there are ample opportunities for employment for the uneducated and poor people of the villages. In our country, the impact of the weaving industry is very much, especially on the basis of the cloth developed above it, many jobs are created. Therefore, although all these small businesses are relatively small, they are capable of making a big impact on the economy. Still, they have some limitations such as being deprived of the benefits of large loans. They are not supported by any government sponsorship and even in the competition with large institutions, their survival is a very difficult challenge.

This raises an important question: Should governments do more to support small businesses?
Yes they should, if they can, But we know the government and they react to small businesses even after knowing that small business are important in the economy of every nation, financial institutions prefer to give loans to big names, which is big businesses because they think that it might be easy for those businesses to pay back easily because of the terms they reached with them, since your question is centered on what can do to support the small business, if they government is serious, soft loans or grants can be given to small business owners, to enable them grow their business more, but I doubt if the government of some nations really care about this and how impactful it can be in the life of both the business owner and their employees.

Small businesses play a huge role in the economic development of a country, especially if small businesses are formed on an area-by-area basis, then many people are provided with employment in that area. Just as small businesses play an important role in the economy, they also play an important role in solving the unemployment problem in the country. If a food hotel is established in an area, many people from that area can work in that food hotel. If a small brick sand cement business is done in an area, then many unemployed boys in that area can work there, and even small freight cars in that area get work based on that brick sand cement. In this way, even if the business is small, it can play an important role in the economy.

Small businesses like restaurants, local shops, and other small enterprises play a huge role in every economy. Individually they may seem small, but together they create jobs and keep the economy running. That’s why they are often called the "backbone of the economy". However, these businesses often face big challenges like - Limited access to loans - Higher taxes - Tough competition from big companies
This raises an important question: Should governments do more to support small businesses?
Yeah. Small businesses or SMEs are really the backbone of the economy in many countries, especially since they can also create a lot of jobs and indirectly reach low-income communities. Of course, the government has a responsibility to develop these SMEs, which can be done by providing training, supporting capital through loans, grants, and of course not burdening them with taxes. In my country, sometimes the government does pressure SMEs, but they are more pro big companies. That's why in my country, almost every year on Labor Day, there are always protests because the government really doesn't side with SMEs, even though SMEs are actually the backbone of a country. So ideally, to make SMEs more productive the government should help out and make improvements so that the overall SME business climate gets better. Reducing taxes and offering special loan interest for small businesses is indeed one of the most direct and relatively easy ways to do this. As long as it’s really targeted at SMEs, the impact on state revenue and even boosting a country’s economy becomes more tangible. One of the clearest examples of this is China, because for the Chinese government paying attention to SMEs is seen as the most realistic step to keep their economy improving.

The best way the government can support or encourage small scale businesses is by making loans available for them and also creating opportunities for skill acquisition and employment, every big business today started small and also contributes to the economy as they also pay the necessary dues, I work in a small scale business I am aware of the payment my boss made to the government some are monthly others yearly and that is not all, they still make some payments to the community, this business also makes impact not only in the economy but also in the community.
You are right, the best way for the government to support small scale business is to give the business owner access to government loans and government grants as well, so that the small scale business owners can run affairs of their business. The government can also enroll them into payroll, because i don't think small scale business can move forward without government intervention. Every big business today started from small scale business and grew bigger today. Small scale businesses do make very impact on the societies because they create job opportunities and reduce unemployment in the societies.

The importance of small scale businesses in an economy can never be over emphasized, and without them many consumers will find it difficult to survive. The truth is that those small scale businesses or retailers sell directly to consumers, and have very wide customer base since the majority of the people are consumers. On the other hand the big companies or businesses sell to wholesalers most times, and does not sell products to consumers in most cases. In the area of gaining access to loans, their are actually loans designed for small scale businesses to access, loans from cooperatives which they can become members sometimes, and even government loans for SME, s even though they can be very small, but they can still be accessible to small businesses as well .

The small businesses have multiple benefits, the biggest one is that they gave employment opportunities to many people and this also lessons burden from government to provide employment opportunities to every citizens. If you have a business mind and also have a small capital to invest then its best for you to start your own business in which you have interest like running a small restaurant. With time as your have more capital at your disposal then you can expand your business and this will not only help you as business owner but also help local people in getting employment opportunities.

There is a reason why we see content creators telling "support small businesses". These mostly aren't even trying to make huge profit but just there to barely survive. They have small family to feed and as well as the supplies that they're also buying which creates a chain of economy that helps each other from raw materials, to finish product. They are not there to make so much money and become rich unless they scale and they have to operate bigger than before. If that's the case, that's much better because they will provide more employment and help not only to people but also to economy.

"Backbone of the economy" is one of the phrases that politicians use too often. It is lost all texture. Like it is no big deal anymore. It is applause bait. Everyone claps, nobody follows through.
You mentioned loans. Right. Banks approve maybe 13-15% of small business loan applications. Let us take a moment to reflect on that. The "backbone" cannot even get funded.
Tax is more layered than people realize. Major corporations have full departments to lower their effective tax rate with structures. A local store owner is unaware of such things. So the corner store pays a higher relative burden than the corporation three blocks away. It just happens that way and that is even worse.

When the pandemic came, many of the people from my country have started to do businesses. Even on small shops, side carts and stalls, they have been done due to realization that no job is secure until forever. Might just make their own businesses that thrives even if their only reason was to survive. The impact is real on these people and I even made a small business that I am happy to manage that it comes with little profit but it's a continuous one that I can say really helps and very impactful in my life. How much even more those who have been doing it full time and they have been relying their daily lives from the income they earn from it. I've watched a lot of these small businesses and they have the same words about being reliant on it and proudly saying that even with little they earn, they're coping.

Indeed it brought employment and is also the kind of business that's look too common but generate a lot of income to the owners because is a business that knows no boundaries when it comes to locations even if busy areas also matters. However I don't think there is a challenge for a restaurant to take loan whether in the bank or anywhere because if you have some properties it could become a collateral to the loan and they wouldn't hesitate to give you if the properties is worth more than the amount. As for taxes they don't charge them much because they're only obligated to pay the same percentage as other private business.

It is the duty of the government to support small scale business so that they can continue their operational duty to give relief to those that needed their services. Big companies can not have branches in every corner of a city, there is need for these scale businesses to provide their own services to people to perform their duty is providing cheaper food, provisions and the necessity people need for their day to day lifestyle. The government need to provide cheaper loan with small interest for these businesses so they can grow in size to employ more workers.

what sustains small business owners is continuety, savings and commitment, it maybe difficult a times but when the don't give up in the business it will keep growing and increasing no matter the pressure it going through in the pressen. Sustainability is a common challenge small businesses face because everything thing is from it, like expenses, gain, profit, maintenance, tax, and many others. And mostly there is not enough capital to run if at the initial time which is likely to collapse after some time of in the business.

It is a duty of the government to work for small businesses because they have largest impact relative to their sizes. Small businesses provide employment opportunities for local people to keep the money circulating among people within the community. When the small businesses become successful, they can change the perspective of whole economy. The government should make it easy for the small businesses to take loans, pay taxes, follow rules and regulations and provide them with necessary training rather than just giving them direct benefits so that they can compete with other big businesses and achieve success. Similarly, at the same time, it is also the responsibility of the businesses to develop their skills and make them adaptable to the technological changes so that they can surviving surroundings.

This is a very good idea, and perhaps the government could consider it. However, if the government doesn't truly care about such matters, no matter how much we voice our support for better businesses, it will ultimately fall on deaf ears. And if all government officials were willing to see this as crucial, perhaps there wouldn't be any complaints from small businesses. In some less developed countries, many people still lack this kind of support, and they often struggle to start businesses due to a lack of government support.

Yeah, size doesn’t always say much about impact. A small business can still create jobs, serve a solid community, and make a real difference. Sometimes the smaller ones are the ones doing the most meaningful work.

In a functioning country, having cheap loans to finance this kind of business are hard, there may be other access to loans but the interest rate are always higher which discourage these business people. There is no way that you will want to start a business with a high interest when you know that there is risk in what you want to start. But the thing is, if you master the art of this business, it can change your life for good, they looks good in the long run. I don't think there is any business there is no competition, they are but all business has level and the customers they are after. The big restaurants have the kind of people they sell their things to and small restaurants has the people they covered and each of them can be a king in there lane, do very well and make profits they never imagine. Just know that even big restaurants do have challenges, not all of them do well and some of them too don't succeed even if they are big with resources.

It's just sad that in my country, the small businesses doesn't get that much priority and help from the government, they're heavily taxed and doesn't get too much subsidies from them. Instead of empowering and encouraging people to put up small businesses, the taxation and compliance make people complacent about it.

All the big companies or businesses we see today started from small before they became what they are today, just as you stated, small businesses also play a vital role in every economy because they contribute to economic growth, they creat employment, drive innovation and also support local communities. Apart from the challenges you mentioned they also face limited access to marketing and technology, poor infrastructure and high operating costs, therefore, government should support small businesses, as a matter of fact the government is not helping small businesses at all. Indeed, businesses desperately need government support and facilitation. Without government support or relief, small businesses can potentially go bankrupt, for example, if the government requires high taxes while the profits generated by micro-enterprises are minimal. However, hopefully, those with governments that are less supportive of small businesses will quickly realize this and help them. It's certainly not easy to thrive in business under such a government. However, many small businesses eventually become large corporations, and this is undoubtedly due to the owners' intelligence and often government support.
