As a beginner should you first learn the basics of Bitcoin security before using self custody or to use a wallet and be learning along is better ?

And to those that have being using Bitcoin over the years. What is that one thing you wish you understand about wallet security before you start the journey.

Wallet usage isn't that complex to understand, it is something that can be taught in a day and possibly someone can assist you navigate it for the first time and then allow you to find your way around it if as a newbie you want to Hold some Bitcoin first before learning about it. for the sake of opportunity, you can choose to stack some Bitcoin first with some very basic preliminary knowledge before you go ahead to getting an in-depth insight into what is applicable with Bitcoin and how it works, with the knowledge of wallet and other basics around Bitcoin.

choosing to learn and understand Bitcoin first before ever stacking some units isn't bad either, the truth remains that whichever way works for you, you can choose to follow through that way, non of the the above ways proves to be better than the other except that with one you may get lucky to bee on a bullish opportunity but then that could be some subtle FOMO even before you start the journey, personally i always advise you understand whatever it is you are going into first before you venture into it, because it gives you the edge you wouldn't have ordinarily if you had to start without basic knowledge, you may also get to avoid certain mistakes by getting those basics first.

Having just a Bitcoin wallet does not mean that a person knows what he is actually doing, anybody can have a Bitcoin wallet without knowing any single thing about it, the different between someone that knows what he is doing and some who just have the wallet is that the one who understands already knows the risks attached and the safety to protect his wallet from being scammed or hacked and how to store his seed phrases, a person who just have a wallet might not even know what a seed phrase is and how sensitive it is to avoid other eyes from seeing it. So some basic knowledge is very important before getting a Bitcoin wallet, because with the knowledge you can praticalize with it from what you know.
