Here comes the Beijing robot conference. I have watched several weird videos of robots falling, glitching and colliding on stage. Engineers were on standby to intervene when they misbehave. So I asked myself, can these things really replace human role in the job industry?
Yes, they can replace human role in job industry, AI and Robotics are improving overtime and the day isn't far when physical robots will be able to do many things that only humans can do right now. Since robots can be better than humans in long run because they can reach far higher strength and power that's why I think such robots might replace many human jobs in future.

As of this time, the physical robots aren't at the level that anywhere close to humans when it comes to elasticity and movements but that day isn't far when such robots will be able to do so many things that even humans can't do. The robots have good applications in use cases in many areas of life and to be honest when they improve overtime they can be very useful as well. With passage of time things will change and we all should understand that, a few years ago AI wasn't that smart but now it's close to reaching super human level of intelligence so can be true for robots in future.

Yes, I heard about this conference where two robots broke the world's fastest human, Usain Bolt's 9.58-second running record. That is, robots are now running much faster than humans. I also heard that it is not just a race, it is another avenue for experimenting with robotics. They say that in the future they want to make these robots more usable by humans, that is, the value of robot engineers is to create robots of such a size that people can use robots as an alternative to humans.
In that case, there is some doubt whether humans will be able to keep up with technology and maintain their professions or most people in the world are going to lose their jobs.

Can humans really lose their jobs? Yes. When I was a kid, a small corn farm needs a handful of people to do all that's necessary. Today, hectares of corn farm could be maintained by one old farmer alone. Everything could be done from start to finish by just riding a tractor.

Although machineries aren't strictly robots, they've been replacing human workers already. They're more efficient.

Can robots replace humans? Yes, industrial robots have been replacing human workers, producing more quality output, faster.

What's at an early stage today, however, are humanoid robots. At this point, they're probably at their rudimentary versions. They probably can't replace humans yet, but it's inevitable for them to develop into more polished versions. At which point, they'll certainly replace humans.

At this stage of robotics, this is just a prototype. Give it some time, and you'll see a completely different picture. Technology is advancing at a rapid pace, leading our lives to a new reality.

Why can they replace us? They're already doing so, with robotic systems replacing humans in large-scale manufacturing, leading to massive layoffs. Just look at how cars are assembled today. Then everything will become crystal clear.

Even AI has already thrown tens of thousands of people out onto the street. Now it's the turn of robots, which don't get tired and don't need food or sleep.

It's increasingly scary with how far AI and robotics are going and surely alot of people are going to be displaced from there jobs, but there is one thing boss always say, "Ai will only take the jobs of people who can't update there skill sets to adapt". I think the best we can do is learn skills that can help us control this AI than us to be controlled when the time comes.

It’s something we should really start paying attention today... As we know that AIare developing quickly and there’s a chance that some jobs will eventually be replaced or changed. I just think that those people who learn how to use these technologies will have an advantages than those who simply try to compete against them. So, keeping our skills updated and understanding how AI can actually be used in our daily lives especially in our work will gives us a better chance of adapting to whatever changes coming...let's be real, change is inevitable. AI is just another tool, which operates by us, humans. whats most important is knowing how to use it effectively, distinguish if the results are correct and reliable. instead of worrying too much about what will happen, it’s kinda better to start learning now and get comfortable with these tools while we still have the opportunity to adjust because we really dont know what will gonna happen in the next more years.

What's the point of spending huge amount to procure, maintenance cost and electricity and then end up with a falling robot? A robot that's not reliable is a liability and not a worker.

The more we try to prove the robot can do better, the more their weaknesses is exposed. For now, human labour still set the price until robot can work reliably without collapsing. The highest we can promote them is through collaboration and not replacement.

You look on robots only when engineers try to look them like humans (skeleton with hands, legs and head), but robots are not only those human-alike. There are many manufacturer where robots are on assembly line. For example they create  cars, and human only need to put some elements to the car to make it look complete. What about those robots? They are more effective "employees" than humans. Machines that work in hazardous environment. They are robots who do job better and safer than humans. Most of jobs where precision and fast calculation is needed, robots or robotized machines do it better.

My fear is seeing robots in warfare. The difference between humans and robots is emotion, which only humans have. If robots are deployed on the battlefield, they will slaughter without mercy. Countries will claim that these robots caused havoc because they malfunctioned. The robots are not afraid of injuries or death. They can be deployed anywhere and still survive. I read that both Ukraine and Russia are lacking soldiers; these robots will become a good alternative.

Honesly, your statement remind me with luddite people were against the textile machines. Someone who being denial to against the innovation. So i tell you everything must be going through the process.

When Android and Iphone released, they were starting from simple gadget. However, it's going to be perfect with the goes of time. So that rule is also applicable to the robotic, which need time to be developed even further to reach its perfect form.

Don't you ever heard that "trial and error"? I guess you don't because your statement feels like robotic sounds the end of the world for you.

At least, you can spend some of minutes to watch a documentary related to the amazon's robotic warehouse.

Let me clear this please. I'm not against innovation at all. In fact I want these robots to work because it's a win win for us if they become productive and reliable. Reliability was my concern from the initial post.

Of course I know about trial and error but phone is not a good example in this case. Phones were working fine with their limited features until they were improved to the latest model. These robots are made for factories where trial and error is a great cost if they failed on the assigned tasks.

Wonder why I made the post in economics board? Because I was looking at the economics effect at the moment. I know in few years to come they'll improve but for now, they are very expensive but not reliable yet.

The more we try to prove the robot can do better, the more their weaknesses is exposed. For now, human labour still set the price until robot can work reliably without collapsing. The highest we can promote them is through collaboration and not replacement.
From what I think, a robot cannot completely replace humans because they have their own limits. A robot can be of good assistance to work for humans, but in the same work there is a limit; a robot would want to go further but it won't be able to carry out a good job.

I was watching a race where there were humans and just one robot. The robot runs very well, but it lacks control when it gets to a point where it is supposed to change direction but still continues to run in the same direction. The robot is a good advantage to humans, but you can't completely depend on it because humans have the capacity to solve problems, even those that have never existed, while the robot is programmed to perform only what it has been told to do.

I think that we should rather commend these scientists whose robots are falling now for their resilience, despite all odds and doubts whether some certain things that were only imagined before now that we only saw in futuristic science fiction movies could become a reality someday, it is already happening. I'm sure that in a couple of decades robots would be fully functional because of the rate that technology and AI is going, there's nothing stoping robots in the future so we should start getting ready to have competitors in some or even most of our jobs by then. If today you can sit in the comfort of your sofa and through your online device shop for what you want to buy, make payment and have it delivered at your doorstep by a delivery guy one day in the future robots will take over the jobs of delivery guys just like robots will take over the job of cab drivers, no doubt whether such a time is coming, the question should be how soon.

I also saw some hilarious episodes, but in any case, the robots are still being perfected, and it's normal for them to have flaws. Sometimes they even perform well in tests, but during a presentation, something might go wrong. I think it's too early to judge that, and I also believe that even if they become perfect, many jobs will still be done by humans, and others will be a partnership between the two.

The more we try to prove the robot can do better, the more their weaknesses is exposed. For now, human labour still set the price until robot can work reliably without collapsing. The highest we can promote them is through collaboration and not replacement.
I think that robots were not created to solve the problems that exist in humans, in fact I think it will have an impact on the gap between rich and poor people. Even though some people think robots can threaten human jobs, I think this is just the bluff of the rich.

Overall robots can cost a lot of money, with maintenance and so on, moreover robots are prone to the limitations of not having empathy, emotional and also does not have social warmth, it is clear that robots can only be used in certain places, not all jobs can be done by robots, In situations like this, it is clear that robots have limitations in responding to situations. In contrast to human creative thinking in general, robots are not a threat, only the egos of rich people.

Do you really think that robots are created to replace human capacity? These are just programmed with commands and they are not perfect, they can fail so don't think that robots will be without faults. Unlike the way people are thinking that robots will take over human jobs, i don't really see it that way, they are just to assist humans and not to take over. From the screenshot you posted, you can see some engineers and technicians rushed immediately the robot fell, what does that tell you? They still need human assistance for them to function correctly. Robots are not replacement, they're our helpers in some critical moments where there can be possibilities of losing a life. There are some high risk jobs that has killed a lot of people, imagine if it was robots that were doing those jobs, the people that died would have still been alive. However, robots are not applicable in everything, their strength and configuration are limited so it's not everywhere that it can function effectively without glitches.

Human jobs are continuously taken over by new technologies that arise from time to time. At the moment, biggest threats people doing job have is from AI. Already companies have started firing people to save money by utilising AI for that job. Now the question should be that will humans completely become irrelevant in future? The answer from my point of view is that it won't happen. Humans will always be there in every work,  though their roles will differ in coming days. We need to adopt new technologies and must foresee how we can fit ourselves in ever changing job model.

Humanoid robots are still in their infancy. For a few days, a video has been widely viewed on social media where a few robots are competing in a race and the robots have been seen running quite fast.

If you talk about robotic tech, then robots have been used in factories for a long time ago for automation, welding and car manufacturing. Robots have long occupied these types of repetitive manufacturing. Which if humans did manually, a lot of time would have been wasted and mistakes would have been noticed in the work.

This humanoid robot will go a long way in the future and if AI is added to it and they are trained with enough skills, they will be able to complete many types of tasks like humans..

Here comes the Beijing robot conference. I have watched several weird videos of robots falling, glitching and colliding on stage. Engineers were on standby to intervene when they misbehave. So I asked myself, can these things really replace human role in the job industry?

What's the point of spending huge amount to procure, maintenance cost and electricity and then end up with a falling robot? A robot that's not reliable is a liability and not a worker.

All robots are not built equal, there have definitely been some disasters and it's the worst thing that can happen when you're trying to showcase your product but this is the future inevitably. A friend sent me a video of a robot dancing in a store in New York yesterday and that thing definitely has some decent moves. If a robot can dance flexibly with fluid motions then there is nothing stopping it from doing lots of other jobs, especially dangerous things like mining or climbing. Humans are perfectly capable of making equally stupid mistakes. The first versions of computers managed to function on just megabytes of memory, now we have super advanced graphics cards and terabytes of storage available on some systems. It takes time to evolve and there may be specialists building them for specific fields, but they are definitely quite advanced already. Be careful looking at the disasters as anything more than a learning curve, SpaceX is another example - it had quite a few rocket failures but is now seen as the primary heavy lifting rocket that many countries are starting to rely on.

Anything robotics or something even Ai is still in development and experimental stages. The floor for failure is inherently present and for anyone to think that both AI and robots can totally replace human resources, it is false.
Even the most AI right now needs human attention to manage it not to talk of robots that can barely function without human assistance just as we see in the image OP shared.

Humans may lose their jobs or migrate to other more meaningful jobs while robots and AI take over the ones that are harmful and hazardous to humans. That's the fact because if humans stop working entirely because robots replace them and productivity is high, who would buy the products when there ain't any funds available for humans to spend.
This in itself will cause a collapse in the economy of any country, thus, there must be a balance of both robots, AI and human resources.

I just enrolled in a course that will make me apply artificial intelligence to my profession. These tools are making the accomplishment of tasks easier and faster. Employers are trying as much as possible to cut costs, so they will adopt any tool that will increase profit. These tools cannot work without human control or supervision, making humans indispensable. If you want to be behind these AI tools, then you should learn how to use them.
