What's the point of spending huge amount to procure, maintenance cost and electricity and then end up with a falling robot? A robot that's not reliable is a liability and not a worker.

Because it's part of building and evolving.
I do see how much did the AI models evolve in.. what, 3 years?

We do have reliable robots for decades. Now they try to evolve them for more use cases. It will take time and funds, but at the end it may pay off greatly.
And where a robot is not reliable yet, it will be improved and/or will be used as a helper for human, doing together (one person and one robot) maybe 5 or 10 people's work.

Of course, not all the companies and not all the robots will succeed. Also part of the evolution.

It's still in the developing stage, and development will continue, so that's not really a big deal. What is more concerning is that robots could really replace some jobs, especially repetitive ones, because robots don't need salaries and they don't need to rest, so I think that's already inevitable.

However, we should still believe that robots are not superior to humans in everything, so we will certainly survive and continue to prosper, maybe just not in jobs that robots can already do better.

I think you just made a very good point here, the robots are still at a developing stage and they will definitely get better, but I really don't think they will take away the jobs of humans. They might be able to do some human jobs, but not all jobs. Aside form robots not earning salaries and not getting tired, I believe that theie cost of maintenance for it to keep functioning properly might be one of the major reasons for humans to still maintain their jobs in some firm. I also agree with the fact that we are human and we know how to adapt,  so definitely we will still find a way to survive even with the robots.

The use of robots is increasing day by day. People think about them, and companies are very interested in making new models and conducting new experiments. A day ago, a user shared an article about robots replacing humans in an office in China, which shows that the world structure is going to be changed in some decades. The failures do not stop the engineers from continuing AI projects, the more failures arise, the stronger the robots will become by solving the issues.

Workers may be worried about their jobs in China after the state forces them to work on AI software, encouraging people through state level initiatives. So, if in that case, humans are replaced by robots, what will humans do?

AI/Robots or Embodied AI is an active area of research right now. It still has some issues, but the future is that robots would be able to do many things that the humans are able to do, things that are manual and repetitive.  Even the robot can become more "intelligent".

That said, the human mind is a creative one. The most creative jobs/things are still left to the human beings. So in short yes, some jobs will be replaced by robots, and the human need to continue to innovate to value add to whatever they are doing. We can't be in denial anymore on this (have seen many people in my workplace stating that their jobs are irreplaceable).

While a lot of us are out here worried about whether Ai would take our jobs a lot of people are actually taking advantage of it, these robots were created to make human work more easier and that's the truth. people are already advancing and others are still worried about a conspiracy theory or fiction that they are not sure of. Robots and a lotnof things being invented are done to make our work more easier and faster.

For now use these inventions to your advantage instead of worrying or stressing over what's going to happen in the future if these robots keeps on improving or getting better.

Human jobs are continuously taken over by new technologies that arise from time to time. At the moment, biggest threats people doing job have is from AI. Already companies have started firing people to save money by utilising AI for that job. Now the question should be that will humans completely become irrelevant in future? The answer from my point of view is that it won't happen. Humans will always be there in every work,  though their roles will differ in coming days. We need to adopt new technologies and must foresee how we can fit ourselves in ever changing job model.
People can be irrelevant if they don't cope up with the fast-changing technology brought by AI, but if they keep embracing every new technology and innovation that come, they will continue to play vital role in different companies. With that, they won't be replaced by AI, but having AI will make them more capable and skillful on their chosen field of work.

This isn't a threat for us, but more on a motivation to help us achieve a higher quality of  work where companies will find us excellent and satisfying.

Robots still have a long way to go before they can completely replace human beings in every fields. Under controlled conditions, robots can perform different tasks efficiently, but real workplaces are quite unpredictable.
When something goes wrong human beings can simply use creativity and experience to adapt to the changes, but when we are working with the fault and the environment is not right, robots simply stop working and require human intervention.
But I think that failures at the conference do not mean robots will not replace jobs in the future. Technology become important and improve through repeated failures. There are unreliable machines in today's time that could become much more the capable and affordable over the period of time. I think the best solution is collaboration between human beings and robots. Human beings can do creativity, conclusions task where as robots can perform tasks efficiently and fastly.

Here comes the Beijing robot conference. I have watched several weird videos of robots falling, glitching and colliding on stage. Engineers were on standby to intervene when they misbehave. So I asked myself, can these things really replace human role in the job industry?

There is a point. There is always room for improvement in designs and stuff.
In 10 years, these engineers into robotics would have been able to figure out the solutions and challenges to these things. And we will see an improved version of Robots.
I do believe that humans and robots will collaborate on stuff, especially those work processes that are redundant.
In the end I think they will figure it out.

The more we try to prove the robot can do better, the more their weaknesses is exposed. For now, human labour still set the price until robot can work reliably without collapsing. The highest we can promote them is through collaboration and not replacement.

I like this your point rather than thinking that AI robot cannot do the work and will continue to collapse when given a task to handle, they can become more of a collaborative effort. For every project to come out live, they’ll have to pass through some developmental stage where they’re been test run and continuously improved and scrutinized until they’re safe to be used in the industries. Just because their robot keeps collapsing on stage doesn’t mean that it cannot still be effective.

The advantage of AI robots cannot really be measured, but until the full potential of it is out, people will continue to criticize it based on its flaws they can see now. As for me, it is better we give them more time to see if they can come up with something more tangible and works well without collapsing.

I believe in about 50 years from now, nobody will do physical work anymore. It will all be taken over by robots. The problem is, there will not be enough jobs and a lot of people will become jobless. And that will cost the state a lot of money.
Companies will profit from robots, the state will suffer from it.

They would be able to replace, a lot of roles in due time, but not every role, since robots cannot think and coordinate things like human, they can still malfunction and need maintenance and validation of their output, so humans would still be in demand, but not the average Joe. This time, skilled humans who are able to embrace the world of AI properly would be more in demand.

It's still evolving, in the foreseeable future, they would be able to do better, most technologies goes through several stages and upgrades until they're able to fully render the services envisioned. A day would come when they'll be able to prove a point and prove you wrong. Robots have advantages, as long as it's charged, there's no resting time or Fatiqued moments, it keeps working endlessly and can do a lot of work in limited time. I was watching a video on X sometime ago where a robot was able to Interlock a large compound which would've taken manual workers days to achieve in just few hours. It might be simulated, but that's where they're heading, more productivity at lower cost.

Not everyone can collaborate with it, some people would still have to be out.

This is not true, not every country is advancing in technology at the same pace, some countries would still be developing as at then and would still use human labor a lot. Even in technologically advanced countries, there would be smaller companies who would still prefer to use cheap labour than go for sophisticated robots. If robotics industry gets very efficient of which we don't know when, it's integration into production environments would take a long time, it's not something that just happens out of the blue.

There's no time physical labor would phase out, robots would need to be directed and supervised and that's where humans still come in, there's certain job deliveries that would need tactical human judgement of which it would be risky to use robots there since they can malfunction and deliver out of context.

Many people are frightened by such radical changes in technology. They're not ready to accept the new reality. In my country, older people are still wary of the internet. I can't understand this phenomenon. What is this? Some kind of mass psychosis? This technology is decades old, and they still don't accept it. It baffles me.

So what kind of robots can we even talk about with this perception of the changed world? It's not even funny anymore. People find it difficult to adapt to a rapidly changing world. Fear of the unknown paralyzes them.

Honesly, your statement remind me with luddite people were against the textile machines. Someone who being denial to against the innovation. So i tell you everything must be going through the process.

When Android and Iphone released, they were starting from simple gadget. However, it's going to be perfect with the goes of time. So that rule is also applicable to the robotic, which need time to be developed even further to reach its perfect form.

Don't you ever heard that "trial and error"? I guess you don't because your statement feels like robotic sounds the end of the world for you.

At least, you can spend some of minutes to watch a documentary related to the amazon's robotic warehouse.
It is true that when the machines first started, in factories, people were against it. And they were right; while we have reached a point where we can buy a shirt even for the poorest of us, hell, we can run a factory for a day and dress every unclothed person for a single day's production of all machines in the world, so there are no more unclothed people in the world. So yes, it was an improvement, but to whom? With machinery, with industrial evolution, we did not get a better world just for us; yes, we were able to get shirts for cheap, but that also meant that we were unemployed because they needed fewer people. And the more it improves, the fewer jobs we will have.

The world is at a point where we have improved so much that we do not have slavery anymore, and yet we are unemployed, so we have no money either, so we are starving. Maybe not you, maybe not me, but there are people out there who are homeless and starving, all because there are not enough jobs in the world.

Human could lose jobs if they don't want improving abilities and skills. So there will be a time for companies using AI replacing human works. Perhaps AI now is not fully function and far from what they expect but following the advance technology, AI will reach a new step where human can rely on them to do their daily works. We don't know when but that time could comes sooner or later so we should prepare for that by learning more and ready with the next. If we have more abilities and skills, the companies will not fire us easily, they will thinks benefits.

That situation you have said will going to happen, if people will not going to adapt on the changes happening in the world. If they stick with their traditional knowledge then there's provably a replacement of new emerging technologies will come in future.

So right now its good for people to prepare on those changes, since we need to exert effort on this matter to survive.

Sometimes I think that its good for government to regulate those new emerging technology to protect the human workforce and to avoid raising the unemployment rate in future.

I can't think of a befitting title than what I have above. Few months ago, I posted about Ford company rehires engineers after AI fails quality checks here.

Unlike the AI revolution, I don’t believe in the real value of robots and their benefits at all. They’re not agile, and they’re constantly being made to look human‑like, which looks great but actually makes their functionality too varied. Because of this, any narrowly focused robot will be better than these clumsy automatons. Any mechanical arm in a factory, designed for specific tasks, will easily be able to handle them, and it will also be cheaper for the owner and easier to manage. Therefore, I don’t believe that robots will replace people. Automation lives only when it is narrowly focused and repairable. But that’s not the case with these walking human‑like entities.

---
Here comes the Beijing robot conference. I have watched several weird videos of robots falling, glitching and colliding on stage. Engineers were on standby to intervene when they misbehave. So I asked myself, can these things really replace human role in the job industry?

What's the point of spending huge amount to procure, maintenance cost and electricity and then end up with a falling robot? A robot that's not reliable is a liability and not a worker.
---
I also saw a video on YouTube as well that contains robots on China as well that are doing 100 Meter Dash like they're an Olympic athlete. What's surprising is that, one of the robots who won made a "world record" where it broke Usain Bolt's current record.

Now as for robots replacing humans, I believe that NOT ALL will be replaced, but there will be some jobs that will be replaced in the future as soon as these develop even further. Speaking of development, correct me but they're on an experimental phase still and seeing failing robot seems pretty normal. We can criticize and say negative things to these robots, but technology is evolving in such a RAPID pace, so don't be surprise if in the next 3-5 years, you will see robots doing the job that a human supposedly is doing. Of course, I will not be surprised if it will not.

I believe in about 50 years from now, nobody will do physical work anymore. It will all be taken over by robots.
Do you expect robots to fix the roof of your home?
Do you expect robots to fix your water pipes of your home?
Do you expect robots to build fence for you?
Do you expect robots to mow your lawn for you?
Final question, do you expect robots to drive those trucks out there for a company?

The more we try to prove the robot can do better, the more their weaknesses is exposed. For now, human labour still set the price until robot can work reliably without collapsing. The highest we can promote them is through collaboration and not replacement.
I dont want to get too religious here, but indeed, God is the greatest engineer. Before AI robots can become completely reliable in the physical world, humanity still has a long way to go. Machines have been part of the production industry for years, but replacing specific jobs that require humans may not happen as quickly as some people think.Whats the point of spending millions on AI robots, only to hire more people to monitor them and make sure they dont malfunction? I simply dont see the full benefit of that yet.Of course, these robots can reduce labour costs and other expenses because they mainly require regular maintenance. But I think the issue is much bigger and more complicated than we realize.

It's increasingly scary with how far AI and robotics are going and surely alot of people are going to be displaced from there jobs, but there is one thing boss always say, "Ai will only take the jobs of people who can't update there skill sets to adapt". I think the best we can do is learn skills that can help us control this AI than us to be controlled when the time comes.

The truth of the matter is that AI can't completely replace human manpower. Why is it so..? Because, so long as AI robots needs human to control them, correct there malfunctions, do check on them and also maintenance always, then humans still remains on top of them. This proves only one point, which is that robots can't replace humans.  Humans are naturally built, with so many inbuilt structures that cannot be imputed into the robots. Humans have a kind of Brian that's does not need to be controlled to do the right thing. Humans have conscience which I believe the robots don't. So, with these few unreplaceable characteristics of humans, they still remain at the top, far higher than robots. Therefore, while robots helps human to reduce the work load for them, humans will still be needed to control and manage robots and still do alot of work..
